We had a one night stay at the Pierpont Inn in Ventura, California. The hotel is located on a hill adjacent to Hwy 101, which is a very busy highway in California. The location is very close to the ocean and the local beach. You can easily walk to the beach and the pier, which features a couple of good places to eat. Our room, which was purchased through a Groupon at a very good rate, was about 30 minutes late in being available. The room had a nice ocean view from the second floor. The ai... Read more

This is an older hotel that is in the middle of renovations, but the grounds & views are still worth a visit. Some of second story rooms have a view as well as a fireplace and a balcony, though as of now no elevator. It is a bit dated, but charming and romantic. I had great customer service from the front desk, my room was clean and comfortable and the view and grounds are mesmerizing. It is close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. I am surprised by some of the negative comments on here. It is understandable that because the freeway is right next to hotel, there WILL be noise throughout the day. By all means, if that ruins your stay please go elsewhere as there are others who will gladly take your reservation and enjoy the beautiful scenery and historic charm the Pierpont Inn has to offer. My husband and I recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Pierpont Inn on May 16, 2015. We fell in love with this prop... Read more

We were highly impressed with the friendly and helpful staff at the WGP. Dorothy went out of her way to get us in a room early in the day following an all night flight with our one year-old (It was Memorial Day weekend and they were fully booked). We were incredibly thankful. Javier found us out at the pool to tell us our room was ready and always greeted us with a smile. Well, this is an old hotel. Over 100 years old. In it's peak years, the 101 freeway (previously known as Highway 1) hadn't been built yet and the view of the Anacapa Islands must have been awesome. But - it's old now. Very old. And the 101 freeway is teaming with life and abundant noise. The hotel bones are still good and Wyndham Hotels has taken on the daunting task of rehabilitating it back to it's original glory or something close to it. The grounds are pleasantly well kept. I treated my friends to dinner while they were staying at the hotel on Thursday evening. I was not hungry so I just ordered the bruschetta appetizer. One bite and that was enough. The bread was soggy. I mentioned something to the waitress. She took the plate away - gave me the bill and I would have thought she would either offer something else or deduct from the bill. She did neither. I will never go there again.

This is a wonderful hotel and is very close to the beach. Even though Highway 101 is nearby, there is little road noise in the rooms. The rooms are spacious and updated. When we checked-in, the clerk could not find our reservation but work efficiently to recreate it. I would definitely stay here again.

We chose the Pierpont for its central location to beach, wine country and Channel Islands. Room was clean and received an unexpected view of ocean. We stayed here close to a high school graduation party for a relative. The property, while compact, is quite pleasant, with fountains, separate outdoor seating areas for visiting with friends, great views of the ocean, and great service anywhere on the property. The only 'ding' is being right next to the 101 freeway which presents quite a bit of traffic noise outdoors. The staff were all wonderful, the food, wine list, and service amazing! The only downside was the ongoing remodel (really not a problem, but I'd love to see the main original public rooms) and there's been a freeway added nearby since the 1908 opening, so one can hear that.

We stayed here for two nights and feel that there are pros and cons to the hotel. It offers a balcony, great location, personable staff, and great breakfast and outdoor eating area. I forgot to mention it has a fireplace, as well. However, the bathroom grouting was mildewed, and there were only 2 bath towels, dingy at that. The curved shower curtain on a straight edged shower allowed water to land on the floor. The bathrooms are really lacking.

Upon arrival I was flabbergasted at how close the hotel and rooms were to the 101 freeway. I was even more shocked that the hotel had no signage to indicate that they were under renovations and so I thought that the sorry excuse for the Reception area was an indication of the hotel itself. Than goodness things got better. The front office staff were helpful, the grounds were pleasant, our room was comfortable and well insulated from the noise outside. The onsite restaurant was actually pretty go... Read more

We booked this hotel just a week before our trip, and stayed just one night. The cute cottage is one of 2 in a small, grassy area with an arbor, flowers and small fountains. It's adorable and has been modernized. The room had a somewhat musty smell, but was spacious, with a comfortable, older queen tempurpedic bed. There was no carpeting. The TV had a sound system with wall-mounted speakers. The bathroom was amazing, with jetted tub and separate shower. The room was very clean. We heard a trai... Read more

I booked 2 nights at the Wyndham Garden Inn in Ventura, CA to attend my son's graduation from Brooks Institute of Photography. At the same time, I joined the Wyndham Rewards Program. I was clearly told that after staying 2 nights at any Wyndham property, I would earn a free night's stay. After I received my Wyndham Rewards member # 156619851J, I tried to book that free room at a Ramada Inn, I was told that my member # had not earned that benefit. My wife and I just came back from a very pleasant stay at the Wyndham Pierpont Inn. Although it was for only one night--I wish I had booked for a longer stay--it was quite delightful. The grounds were very clean and with well manicured gardens. My wife mentioned that it was a great place to have a wedding--which, by the way, they were hosting in a couple of days. We were there on a weekday, so it was not too busy. We managed to get there early and we were right away able to check in our roo... Read more

I really wanted to like this hotel. It is one of the few (with the high rise Crowne Plaza and the not-on-the-beach Marriott) hotels easily accessible to the very nice Ventura beach. But it falls short. It was built in stages, beginning in the 1920s, on an attractive bluff overlooking the ocean and long, white sand beach. Unfortunately, during the 1960s, Highway 1010 was built, squeezed in between the hotel and the beach, running about 100' in front of and below the hotel. The six-lane highwa... Read more

Wasn't sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews. Had originally booked one night in a double queen, but ended up wanting a king by the pool. Dorothy made the change for us without a hitch and with a smile. The room, 420, was on the ground floor, refurbished, with a small patio and two chairs, partial ocean view, and was mere steps from the lovely heated pool. The tempurpedic king was very comfortable, and we couldn't hear any traffic once inside the room, maybe because we had the air condi... Read more

I had a devil of a time deciding where to stay in Ventura. I'd always been curious about the Pierpont - perched on a hill over the #101 freeway with views of the ocean. I also knew it was a historic property. When I called to make my room reservation, I asked for a room that would be quiet. The reservation agent said I'd be missing the point of staying there, as the rooms with the views faced the ocean. She assured me that the freeway noise would not be an issue. Short story: I'm glad I ... Read more

I'm sure the owners of this place are waiting for the electric auto to become mainstream. The grounds of the property are beautiful, with some great ocean views from many of the rooms, pool, and restaurant.
