This hotel is in a good location you have a short walk to the beach, a few diners all within walking distance. The public areas are nice but the rooms are very dated. The rooms don't have safes, fridge, or free WiFi its 9.95 dollars a day. However you can have a free safety deposit box at reception, they will bring you a fridge on request (not a mini fridge its about 3ft tall) and if you sign up to marriott rewards you get your WiFi free. Car parking is $14.00 a day. The room we had was poo... Read more

This hotel is near the state beach and close to freeway 101. The rooms were typical for a Marriott. Our room was clean and had a small refrigerator which was quite handy. There is a McDonalds one block away and an In and Out burger place across the street. The buffet breakfast was good but quite expensive. We have stayed here several times and will again. However, we will continue to eat off site. There is a pool and adequate gym. Good place to stay with kids due to location.

My daughter and I spent Mother's Day weekend in Ventura, CA, staying two nights at the Ventura Beach Mariott. The hotel is in a great location, a few short blocks from the ocean, and about a mile from downtown Ventura. We had a double, ocean view room on the 4th floor. It was very clean, quiet, and the window overlooked a pretty garden area with a view of the ocean in the distance. The only complaint is the beds were very hard and uncomfortable, making it difficult to get a good night's slee... Read more

I have stayed here once a year for most every year for the last number of years. This place is in need of a renovation. For the past 2-3 stays, the non smoking rooms have been smoked in. You can tell as soon as you open the door. This is a sign to me that the place is in desperate need of a renovation. On the ups side, it is only a few minutes walk to the beautiful Ventura Beach. This hotel is in a amazing spot.

The service at this hotel is awesome. They go out of their way to make you feel comfortable. Especially Melissa at the front desk. Spectacular service. If you are under 6 feet tall and under 200 lbs., you will be comfortable here. Anything else, and I would suggest looking elsewhere. The beds are ultra soft with no support. The chairs in the room are small and low to the ground. The seats at the bar only come to the middle of your thigh. It's like sitting on a ledge. I was very uncomfortable. I... Read more

I am a loyal Marriott guest, having been a platinum members for many years. I am embarrassed for Marriott with this hotel. Here is why: Our "upgraded" room (4005) was old, stale, and dirty. We called to try to get the AC working well but it never worked well. We asked for a blanket and got one with holes in it. The bathtub drain was backed up every time we showered. From a service perspective, the best part was the parking attendant...pleasant and engaging. Encounters from nearly all other staf... Read more

I was in Ventura to visit the Channel Islands National Park. The Mariott hotel was good, similar to what I expect of any other Mariott. Location is ok, near the highway and there are some fast food places surrounding the hotel. The beach is a 5 minute walk away.

Okay, this is not the fanciest place around, but it is clean, has a nice pool and very serviceable fitness room and the location is fabulous. Not in the great views sense, but in the short walk to the beach sense. It also a block from the Pacific Coast bike trail that provides GREAT cycling through Buena Ventura State park ( which next door to the hotel) and well beyond (you can ride up into Santa Barbara along the coast or take another bike path into Ojai). We arrived at the Marriott and were running late for a wedding, the front desk was quick, accommodating got a bell captain right away and all staff was very pleasant. The Wedding reception was held there later that evening, food and staff service was excellent. Left Sunday morning for a trip up to San Mateo, liked the Marriott so much, stayed there on our way back to Palm Desert Monday night, no reservation, not a problem! Excellent !

The hotel is centrally located in the middle of all Ventura's attractions. The free shuttle will pick you up in the parking lot and take you anywhere in the city. I was impressed with the bell service Pete provided. He was very friendly and provided some great insight into the area's attractions. I was also impressed with the front desk service. Maureen was very friendly and had a special gift gift sent to my room.

Great location with town only 5 minutes away and close but not on the beach. Once you are in your room or public areas of hotel it feels like any other Marriott no where near any water. Older property that needs an upgrade. Been to many Courtyards that are much nicer. Typical good Marriott service and great place for a business trip. Parking lot jammed and had to park a long way from room. Easy to find freeway close and many restaurants in Ventura to pick from.

recently here on business, excellent front desk staff, very helpful, I loved the late spacious lobby, lounge area, lots of sunlight streaming in from so many windows, pool and terrace area also well laid out. Coin operated laundry facility available, also a good menu, and room also large enough with small balcony overlooking the parking lot, but providing some great sunsets, beach a short walk away, would gladly stay there again.

Ok hotel, easy access to freeway. Not worth a detour. Restaurant was reasonable, but I wouldn't go there if I didn't stayed at the hotel. Could use some updating. One would assume that having "Beach" in its name, you could see the water from the hotel...not.

Was here for business and they served us well. The hotel is clean and close to the beach (within walking distance) and a short drive to downtown. The price is reasonable. It is a Marriott and delivers on its brand. The rooms are clean. I did not use the pool, but those that did praised it. Right off the freeway and easy to get to.

The hotel entry hall is nice and open and features a peaceful sit down area to read a book or chat with friends. The location is nice - near the beach. Unfortunately when I was staying at the hotel the beach was in a bad state, it looked like a huge storm had hit not long ago, there were huge rocks everywhere that made it difficult to walk along the waterfront without twisting an ankle. A good nights sleep is my #1 priority in booking a hotel. Although this is a bit older hotel, I was pleased with the cushy pillows, sheets and duvet. A/C worked well and updated room was nice. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Valet parking was a great convenience for just $2 more than regular parking. Starbucks coffee in the lobby is another big plus! I would book there again for sure! I'm glad it was recommended to me by locals.

We stay in Marriotts exclusively because my husband gained platinum membership while traveling for work. Now we are retired and love all their perks like free stays once a year and using points for free nights. This Marriott at Ventura was sone of the best in the US. But overall, whilst the main reception and bar appeared to have had a recent refurb, the rooms really let it down and felt very dated considering the price paid - over $320 for a suite. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! It's as good as it gets: across the street from a big, beautiful beachfront park! Beautiful atrium with Happy Hours, Art Exhibits, and a good restaurant. The rooms are comfy - and relative to the location - a decent value. Of course, Downtown Ventura with it's trendy, vibrant Main Street is reached in a few minutes by car - but there's also a Trolley, which is fun - or rent a bicycle. If I could afford it, I'd just live here. :-)
