Great bed & bedding, spacious room. Very friendly/helpful employees. Good breakfast. Cons: weak internet at my end room (typical on any end room) , no plugs for devices. Not one. Not on end tables, or even the desk. The front desk did offer an extension cord, which means I am not the first to complain. Oh parking is $10! I will return in spite of the issues.

Very quiet location overlooking the marina and within walking distance to the Ventura Harbor Village. Room was clean and comfortable and the complimentary breakfast was a plus. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We stayed here recently so we could easily access the harbor for boating to Santa Cruz Island. It was the best location for lodging for this purpose. We stayed in room 363. This room has a large 2-side porch, accessible from either of 2 sides of the large room. The view overlooking the harbor was sweet.

We stayed in a large suite room with in-room Jacuzzi and kitchenette . The shape of the room was unique. The living room was huge . The bathroom had a glass door shower next to the Jacuzzi. our room was right on the harbor with views of the boats .

This place is not fancy but the staff is first rate. Beds are comfortable and the room is spacious. Most rooms on second and third floors have roomy balconies. Large bathrooms. We had room with sofa frig and microwave. Kurig coffee pots. Price was reasonable. One of our favorite places to kick back and relax.

This hotel has a great view of the harbor! The staff were all friendly and my suite was clean and spacious! This was probably one of the most noise free hotels I have ever stayed in! I am looking forward to my return trip and staying here. This hotel is also not to far from restaurants and some of the local shops.

Stopped here for one night as travelling through California. I don't think this building started out as a Holiday Inn Express I believe this building is very old but has been remodeled at some point.. We did arrive an hour early and told our room was not ready. OK. But it took two and half hours for it to be ready. Once we got on the elevator we wondered if it would get us to the 3rd floor. Room was OK and the view was beautiful looking out over the harbor. However, we couldn't get the s... Read more

The location of the hotel could not be more spectacular. Our room looked directly out onto Ventura Harbor. The colors of the boats were spectacular. The room was OK. There was nothing special about it. It was large, but poorly lit. The sliding door to the large deck had trouble opening. The breakfast was passable. I felt that the pancake machine made very dense and untasty pancakes. I believe that the waffle machines do a much better product. The woman that is in charge of the break... Read more

Not your typical Holiday Inn, wow, I am really impressed. Nice clean room overlooking the bay reminded me of a time in Cape Cod. Spacious room, nice comfortable bed, room to move around without bumping into things, sofa bed, balcony overlooking docked boats - very nice. There's an overhead bridge which allows access to the 4 Points by Sheraton... as the Holiday Inn doesn't have a bar, but they do serve breakfast. It's a great value in a pristine location with easy access of the 101 Freeway. ... Read more

The hotel is a bit outdated, but its functional, plus is located next to the harbor village which is very convenient for shopping, dinning and just relaxing next to the ocean. Every room has a balcony and the view is nice.

Yes, some of the HIEs do need a makeover, but they are never the worst places to stay. This HIE has a nice view of the harbor, even if my bathroom felt retro. While I was just passing through for one night because Santa Barbara is overpriced, the stay was worth it even if I had to pay $10 for parking. Not to mention, they have a pretty decent breakfast that is usually better than most of its competition. This is walking distance to the Harbor (and Andria's and Brophy Bros), and not far from man... This place has been our go-to destination for quick local getaways for several years. In previous reviews we have expressed great satisfaction with the location, conditions and value. On our latest trip (July 2016) it was immediately apparent that little or no attention is being paid to maintaining the rooms and facilities. The room furniture is worn, wall coverings and drapes are faded and even simple maintenance items like fixing the loose toilet seat and clearing the clogging sink are being o... Read more

I stayed here for three nights while movers were packing and delivering my things to my new home. I chose this property because of the reviews, the pictures looked good and it is pet friendly. From the minute I arrived the staff were swell. Lindsi and Sylvia found me a lovely room on the 3rd floor overlooking the harbor. Sophie (my cat) and I settled in and remained undisturbed thanks to pet in room/do not disturb signs. When I needed to extend my stay an additional day, Lindsi made it happen wi... Read more

Nice hotel with proximity to Ventura harbor. That is why we stayed here as we had an early boat ride next morning. Nice rooms that were quiet. Staff was nice and parking available. The only thing is we had to walk to pool at another adjacent hotel via elevated walk. I have never seen hotels sharing pools.

Two weeks ago my family and I spent a night at this hotel. The experience was overall very good: the room was nice and clean, the people at the front desk were really helpful and polite; and the only drawback is the pool. The hotel doesn't have a pool on its own, so in case u wanna swim, you'll have to walk to the adjoining hotel to use theirs. This can be inconvenient if you are traveling with children but otherwise it's not big deal! Nonetheless , what impressed us the most was this really n... Read more

The lady at the front desk was not friendly at all but checked us in quickly and efficiently. She said our room didnt have a view but it did. It was great. The room was a ground floor handy excess able room. At first i was bummed with no bathtub but the room and bathroom was so large i was presently suprised. The window in this picture is huge. Its about 10 feet high and 16 feet wide. The free breakfast had the usual stuff plus biscuits, gravy, omelets, sausage patties, and a pancake machine... Read more

The hotel is conveniently located in the Ventura harbor area. If you are taking one of the boats to see the Channel Islands you will still need to drive to a different parking lot, walking is too far. Hotel looked nice from the outside but from the inside was run down. Also, parking fees are being charged in addition to the room rate. I was not excited about this. This was probably in the small print when I booked the room. Clearly a negative surprise.

The negative: 1) Weird lighting...quite dim with a switch for the bedside table which required you to get up out of bed, walk to the door and pull out a card. 2) The dining room is very small and most of us had to eat at an outside patio exposed to the elements. 3) When we checked in the man said "Oh, too bad, you didn't say you were military. You could have gotten a cheaper rate, but now it is too late", so we had to pay a higher rate. My advice is to check out all discounts, rates and d... Read more

This place is great. I didn't start but one night so I can't comment on amenities. I think they charge $10 for parking each day (there was a sign) but they didn't charge me (because I'm an IHG Premier Member maybe?) and they have bikes available for rent. The room was clean and comfortable. Got a great night of sleep. The tub was huge with lots of room.

We used this for a day away at the ocean and enjoyed the walk along the harbor, the boats in the harbor, restaurants and shops. The hotel had a restaurant close by which was OK but compared to the other options I would recommend taking a lovely walk.

This place is all about view and location! It sucks that the pool and jacuzzi are at the hotel across the street. And, every so often you get a whiff of sewage, so there's that... Avoid the rooms directly in front of the elevators--too noisy.

3 is just about spot on here. Went for a labor day holiday with another family. THE GOOD: Wi-fi strong Friendly check in I loved the firm beds that keep your back aligned, no sinking/soft quick-sandy areas...FINALLY. Had pillows labeled "soft" or "firm", who does that? That was cool. Did not find one single hair on the beds, very clean sheets, thank goodness. Location close the Ventura harbor and the beach (minutes with a car, or a 20 minute walk) Clean and spacious room with a balcony and seat... Read more

The normal routine for us: me, wife, two kids - a weekend away. We chose Ventura since it had been many years and the memories had that rosy tinge. And the memories were right! Ventura is a great little weekender. But... If you're going to visit the hamlet of Ventura, this isn't the best place to stay. If you have business at the harbor (which is a few miles and a couple of exits on the highway from town), then is a convenient spot. In fact, the place was chock a block with yachties shivering ... Stayed here during the Strawberry Festival. I'm a fan of HI and this property did not disappoint. Check-in was easy, they accommodated my request for a corner room on the 3rd floor with no problems. Our room was HUGE! We had a gorgeous view of the harbor and the ocean and as a result, we saw stunning sunsets and sunrises. The breakfast is standard for HI, nothing spectacular but definitely better than continental. I will definitely stay here again!

Although the room, apart from the bathroom, is nice, the hotel itself is really outdated. From the check inn to the door of your room, everything looks like it's not serviced. The view from the room is really nice, staff is friendly and apart from some sea-lions, it's quite. As long as you are in the room, the experience is good. When you step out, not so much. Time to get things updated.

We visited this hotel in August this year. This Holiday Inn is not at all what I expect from a Holiday Inn. The room was okay, beds are fine, the carpet was nasty, it had a musty smell in the room and the lights flickered if you did not keep a card in the slot. We had problems with the air condition, it would not cool down! The breakfast was okay but there was no real welcome with this hotel as I have had better with other Holiday Inn's.

Fantastic balcony view, very comfy beds and a very good complimentary breakfast. 20min walk to harbor. Hotel could do with a lick of paint inside and some TLC but excellent staff, at front desk and in the breakfast room and a good night sleep with great view from the room.

I had driven past this hotel several times already but never stayed here. All together the hotel is OK. That is also about it. Service at the reception is good and friendly. Rooms are outdated and need to be refurbished. Same for the lobby and stairways etc. The plus is the nice view that you will have from your balcony towards the harbour. This makes up for a lot! The hotel has a shared gym with Four Points which you can use. The gym is OK; not a lot of stuff but you can manage. WIFI is goo... Read more

The rooms face a harbor where you can watch the sun set, and there is a free breakfast to help the budget if you prefer it to trying one of Ventura's wonderful breakfast places. The best part of staying at this hotel are the beds. The mattresses are almost a foot thick, the sheets and pillow cases the softest we'd ever experienced, there is plenty of closet space, along with a hair dryer, steam iron and ironing board -- free coffee, tea and wi-fi -- and the staff is personable and helpful.

The Staff and Manager (Rosemary, Sylvia, and Stephanie) at the Holiday Inn Express were amazing. They all seem to go above and beyond to accommodate me and my employees. We stayed here on and off for 4 months and at times were there for 2 weeks straight. They made it seem like a second family.

In order to be close to the marina for an early morning boat trip to the Channel Islands, I stayed the night before at the Holiday Inn located at the marina. Great choice. Very convenient location for my needs. Large, comfortable room. A little dated but overall in good shape. Nice view over the marina from my room. Very nice breakfast area. Standard fare but a nice setting with an open air eating area that also overlooked the marina. Fit my needs perfectly.
