I was pretty disappointed in the hotel for being a Hilton. The property was really dated and needs a renovation ASAP. My tub faucet had a constant leak. I told the desk and they would take care of it, but after 3 days nothing happened. Isn't California in a drought?

The elevator service was awful. The equipment was in the process of an overhaul, and long waits and cancelled call lights were the norm rather than the exception. My reservation was inexplicably messed up. I am a gold level Hilton honors members, and somehow got switched from a king room to a room with two double (not queen) beds. Who puts double beds in a hotel room anymore. On the positive side, the pool bar service was great. Not sure I would stay here again, as the property is not up t... Read more

I am a Hilton Diamond member, so I stay at a lot of Hilton family properties all over the world. Unfortunately, my recent stay at this property left me disappointed. It appears they don't care much if you have been loyal to the brand and earned higher membership status. When I checked in at the Hilton Honors desk, I inquired about the Executive Lounge. I was told that they used to have one, that it was discontinued, but in its place I would receive two vouchers for a drink and food item at t... Read more

Bottom line - I don't think we would stay here again unless it was completely renovated, along with other improvements being made. I've been in better Holiday Inn Expresses. You are solidly paying for the location, so if it's worth that much to you, you can try it, but you may not get much sleep. Apparently, we were across from a maintenance closet, and at 11:30pm and later we were awoken to loud banging and someone in and out of the closet. The sound proofing in these rooms are terrible. We stayed here as a last minute necessity and I was thrilled by how accommodating the staff were. I had my two dogs my son, my father in law and everything was last minute. They up graded my father in law just to be nice and didn't ask any questions about the dogs. I would absolutely stay here again. Plus we found a great deal on hotels tonight.

Don't expect to be treated like you normally would as an HH member. What I have been offered at many other Hiltons did not apply at this one, which was disappointing. Additionally, something that has nothing to do with being an HH member, is the A/C in the room was not good. It was very hot when I got in, I turned down the A/C as low as I could, and it never got to a comfortable and cool temperature.

We had stayed at this Hilton 2 years ago and had a dreadful experience. But, due to the close location to Universal, we decided to try the hotel again...and am very glad that we did! The staff was tremendously helpful and friendly -- a vast difference in our prior visit! The rooms were very clean and spacious with comfortable beds and excellent views. 5-7 min walk to universal studios or Citywalk. The walk isn't on the sidewalk the entire time, which isn't super safe. You walk in the driveway around a curve. Appears to be a shorter walk from the Hilton than from the Sheriton. We didn't eat at the hotel, but walked past the buffet several times, it looked fantastic. Bought 3 waters in the hotel store for $15! Seriously overpriced. Nice hotel, but the nightly rate seems high. Obviously, the location allows them to price however the... Read more

My family always stays at this hotel when we go to Universal Studios. They have a shuttle to the park but you can easily walk it in 10 minutes. The rooms are huge and so is the bathroom. I stayed at this hotel because it is where my review course was held. The Hotel is nice, the bed was comfortable, it is close to Universal Studios and City Walk... but, everything else was not so nice. Problem List: #1 The bathroom was dirty, peoples hair was everywhere; #2 I had no warm water for showers, for both days of my stay, even though they said they "fixed it." #3 Only one of six elevators worked, got to climb stairs to the 11th floor (got my steps in!). #4 Our last night I called to... Not ideal for a traveling family for the price. No pull out couch means $35 for a rollaway. Breakfast buffet is not worth the price. No changing tables in public restrooms for travleing infants/toddlers makes no sense as a family destination hotel. But the location for Universal is unbeatable.

we stayed here for one night in May 2016. We had a view of the swimming pool and we were on the first floor of the hotel (so no elevators needed to be taken to go to our room). The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was spacious as well and it's good to give a toddler a bath. We were able to get breakfast the next day and the selections were good. We had a great experience at the Hilton near Universal Studios. The location can't be beat- it was directly across Universal Studios so this made the trip very relaxing- in our opinion, the extra cost to stay here was worth it so we could just wake up and walk to the park (about 10 minutes or so). This hotel has a fantastic location, is close to the theme park. We had major issues with the elevators, and ended up spending more than 10minutes waiting for elevators whenever you needed to use them. We were on the 14th floor and had an excellent view of the mountains and the Universal theme park. The staff is very helpful and courteous. As with all first class hotels, the food costs are extremely high. For example, the breakfast bar for hot food was 28.00 per person, so this can be expensive for a large family. My only complaint (as other folks noted) was the elevator issue. Out of five elevators only 2 or 3 of them were functional. This can cause up to 10-15 minute waits for an elev... Read more

If I'd paid half the price for a hotel that didn't have the Hilton label, I'd probably be averagely happy. But it is absolutely inexcusable that there is over a 30 minute wait to be seated for breakfast EVERY day - and there are two dining rooms that are completely empty - evidently because of my mythical dust from the construction. However, that didn't stop them putting place settings in that area for (I assume a conference event). Room service was poor - it arrived cold. The elevators are ... Read more

Typical Hilton in format, but three major issues: 1 The lifts are undergoing replacement and the wait to get to/from the lobby averaged 15 minutes. Just too many people for the remaining working lifts 2 The breakfast was appalling - the worst ever experienced in a Hilton. Very bland buffet served in a cold bar environment. Let's be clear..you stay at this Hilton for the proximity to the theme park. It's hard to beat on that score. Being able to hit the park, come back and rest ( or cool off if it's a hot day) and go back later with little effort is a huge selling point. Views are excellent, our room on the executive floor was clean and well appointed. Maybe a tad underwhelming for the price, but still very nice. To be honest - this was a 2-night stay because we needed to visit Universal Studios; the Hotel gave us what we expected. Location was the key and it was good, in walking distant to the park and back - that was what we wanted and we got it.

My family had a wonderful experience at the Hilton. The location was perfect for Universal. The rooms were clean and spacious. And the staff was awesome! The restaurant downstairs was great as well. One morning my son wanted something that wasn't on the menu so the waitress called the chef out and he made his breakfast as specially requested. We will make this our hotel of choice when we are in the area.

Nice hotel, they seem to be updating elevators. Rooms were nice and clean, front desk was very friendly. Enjoyed 2 nights here while at universal LA - easy short walk to and from. Wish they (and all other hotels) didn't charge guests at hotel for parking. Pretty pricy on top of nighty stay. Pool was small bit fine for a quick dip.

Right on the rail, so if you'd want to jump on, it's very close, as well! Extremely nice inside with great hotel rooms and accommodations. Not noisy one bit either being so close to Universal. We had a room overlooking the park and we never heard a thing. Friendly staff, as well! Thank you!

The hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from Universal Citywalk and there s a free shuttle if you want to skip the walk. All in all we had a very good experience at The Hilton!

We stayed two nights at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal in October 2016. It is a 5 minute walk from Universal Studios. The rooms were a good size for our family of four, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel is a bit pricey, but the location is hard to beat. The all-you-can eat dinner buffet was fantastic, and included lobster, crab and sushi, among many other choices.

This is a fantastic location if Universal Studios is in your plan. While we did not visit the park, is served as an easly location to navigate the rest of the city. The metro station is just down the hill, and for $7 a day, you can get pretty much anywhere. The hill is not for those out of shape or woth health issues, however, so I recommend taking the Universal trolley (free) to the top and then walking back to the hotel.

Bad customer service, not friendly staff or front desk. At least staff we interacted with were mean enough for us to avoid seeing any or asking any. Rooms are extremely noisy, you have to have an agreement with your neighbor not to flush the toilet or take a shower at night, otherwise, no sleep for you. Don't ask for an upgrade, they will downgrade you and tell you we upgraded you. As mentioned in the title, the only good thing about it is that it is that close to universal studios, besides that... If you are a walker you will probably be fine, but if not everyone is, and/or if you have younger kids, walking won't be your best option. The Hilton was a great location to enjoy Universal Studios. Unfortunately for all the hotel had to offer, one can't appreciate it's accommodations because you are hardly in the hotel after spending ten hours at the parks. I thought paying to park in the hotel garage, should be included in the high price to stay there. The breakfast offer was nice, but you need to pay for a substantial upgrade. The staff throughout the hotel was friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and spacious.
