We have visited the lazy J ranch on our springbreak tour of the American West. It's a great place to relax after your visit to Sequoia national park. Coming from Europe it's nice to find the typical American look of the 50's but perfectly renovated and with modern facilities. The pool must be nice in summer and the walking trail which starts behind the motel makes it worth spending some extra time.

Clean but could use updating. Very disappointed that at 8:am the office was still closed and we couldn't get breakfast. Couldn't find a restaurant open in Three Rivers to get breakfast either. Grounds were very nice.

This was a great hotel choice near Sequoia National Park. Their free continental breakfast had lots of choices including a variety of fruit. They even make it available the night before if you are an early riser. It was clean and comfortable for a few days.

It is perfectly situated just minutes from the local Three River center, The Sequoia National forest, with the river flowing in the back of the property and the lake adjacent makes the Lazy J Ranch a Beautiful Location. The property is maintained well and clean, the fact that there was a pool, a volleyball court, plus goats and sheep's for my kids to enjoy was a great bonus. Yes the rooms may be a bit outdated but it fit in perfectly with the atmosphere of the place. The staff was also amazin... Read more

Perfect location just a 5 minute drive to the National Park entrance, and near markets and restaurants. Very quiet location and room was clean. We were happy to have chosen this cottage style accommodation at a budget friendly price. Help yourself to continental breakfast offerings of fresh fruit, pastries, packaged oatmeal and juices that can be picked up the night before if you plan to start your day before the office opens at 9:00 a.m.

This was a great place to stay while visiting Sequoia National Park. It was minutes from the entrance and right at the edge of town. Quaint little cabins, extremely comfortable, and very nicely furnished. Goats and sheep out back to visit. Quiet, peaceful, a bit of heaven...

We've stayed at this hotel twice in the last few years. Both experiences were good although the upkeep of the rooms has declined somewhat over the years. The location is great with lots of open space. The grounds are well taken care of and the pool is wonderful. It s a very large property and doesn't give you the feel of a typical chain type hotel. There are individual cabins or tri-plex rooms. We've stayed in both styles.

We stayed at Lazy J this week and loved it! It was clean and well kept. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the chairs in front of our room to be able to sit and relax after a long day in Sequoia. Appreciated being able to get snacks/breakfast the evening before. If you're looking for a nice, clean quiet place to stay while visiting the park, I would definitely suggest Lazy J.

The rooms are nice in size, but overall the place just needs maintenance and attention. The "playground" consisted of an old swingset and a slide with a "keep off" sign on it. The office wasn't open in the mornings, even by 8 am, so we weren't able to get breakfast items. The laundry room dryer was broken, and looked as if it had been for some time, so we had to air dry our clothes. The pool, however, was very clean and the kids loved it.

First time visitors and we absolutely LOVED the place! It's a perfect way to "camp" without doing the tent camp experience but yet still have the feel. Yes, the rooms are a little dated BUT it's no different from other actual hotels. The pool was a huge plus and the cottages had lots of shade! Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only complaint I had was an elderly couple with a dog who ran after my son while walking over to our room but other than that I would recommend this place to everyone a... Read more

Arrived after a long drive, easy check in, nice staff. We requested a different unit to be nearer the river and the young lady was great, think we ended up in a better place. All clean but a bit tired and seemed lacking a lttle maintenance, lighting was poor, tv patchy gtreat views out the back over river and mountains. Good location for sequoia only 15 minutes to park entrance. Would stay again for location..

We travelled around California for a month in June 2016 and used to roughing it if required but this was the worst place we stayed. We wanted to make the most of the parks so picked here to stay here. After a big walk in Sequoia NP we arrived at the Lazy J ranch about 6.30pm. We asked the receptionist where we could get a cold drink of water, and she said the tap. Not really that helpful.... I eventually found the ice machine and made some cold water to drink.(it was really hot weather) It got w... Read more

Right on the highway when driving into Three Rivers from Visalia and parts west. Really a sweet place. . .Felt right at home. Nothing fancy but remember this is country. Great place to stay when visiting Sequoia National Park, Mineral King and Lake Kaweah. Very pretty grounds and a nice pool.

We stayed in this hotel for one night during the 4th of July weekend when visiting the Sequoia National Park. The hotel is about 3 miles from the park entrance. It was so good that 2 of our husbands wanted to skip camping and stay here the whole time. There is river access and a pool and volleyball court and a huge grass area between the cottages and rooms so you do feel in a ranch. Each cottage has a front yard with chairs. Lots of trees and shade. We loved this place. Cottage #1 was great 1 ro... Read more

This was a great place to stay when visiting Sequoia and Kings Canyon NPs. Rooms were in duplex, so the duplexes were in a horseshoe around lovely grounds and the pool. It was fun to sit outside and listen to the kids laughing and playing in the pool. Continental breakfast was adequate. We picked it up in the office and then needed to take it back to our room. We enjoyed our two nights there. It was especially nice to have a place just outside the park without having to drive a distance.

Our family stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel is comprised of individual cabin style rooms of average size. Some rooms have a view of mountains, others did not have much of a view. The 2 cabins at the end were quite close to the only road in town and pretty noisy with traffic. The very loud air conditioner did drown out some of the road noise. The cabin had 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom between. The beds were double size. One bedroom had a small table with 2 chairs (we had 4 people),... Read more

We were very pleasantly surprised by the Lazy J Ranch. Three Rivers is super convenient for trips to Sequoia. The hotel has about 18 rooms set around a pool. Rooms weren't big, but had everything we needed, and were very clean and tidy. The hotel staff were welcoming and friendly, and they had a large selection of DVDs that you could borrow free to watch in your room. The breakfast was simple, and just collected from the reception area, but had bagels, cereal bars, fruit, and drinks. If yo... Read more

Arrived after 9 so the office is closed. Our receipt and key were taped in an envelope to the door which wS nice. We had prepaid but breakfast needed picked up the night before since the office didn't open till after 9. We were planning to be in the park by then. There was a gated pool in the center that looked nice. The room was sweltering when we opened the door so much that no one could sleep - we found the AC to power on and in an hour is was better. Room is very old, chairs creepy and dated... Read more

Great staff, clean cabins and a wonderful atmosphere. The kids loved the large pool and seeing the goats and sheep in the back fenced area. There are limited options this close to the park, and I highly recommend this to anyone in the area. We would stay here again!

We found lazy J Ranch to be a quaint little ranch nestled below the mountains with a comfortable charm. It had an authentic motel feel about the place, it was clean, the beds were comfortable, pool was very nice and had a very deep end and it was perfect for the end of the day! Great view of mountains with river a short walk behind. Would recommend for families. Our room had a kitchen with refrigerator and stove. Nice continental breakfast with keurig coffee maker.

The Lazy J Ranch is in a pleasant, scenic location with a good, deep swimming pool. The lady in reception was very helpful and informative. We had two huts/rooms which were fine with ok beds, but pillows rubbish. Close to Sequoia national park which is a lovely park and a must visit. Three Rivers has a couple of places to eat but all a drive away from the Lazy J Ranch.

We spend one night at Lazy J's after a long day in Sequoia National Park. We enjoyed the refreshing swimming pool and the comfortable atmosphere of a typical American Motel mixed with a small sheep farm. The river is in walking distance and invites for a swim. The rooms were very clean, spatious. WLAN was provided (kids!). For breakfast we found good coffee, fresh fruit, fruit juice, toasted bagels, enough to start the day. The Lazy J is really a slice of Americana. You don't find many places like this anymore. Nothing glitzy, nothing trendy about it. (I should note, though, that the flat screens are brand new and dependable wifi and a good breakfast buffet are free.) Obviously, the Lazy J has been around for a long time, and has been lovingly preserved. If the Lazy J feels a bit like it is from another era, so does the warm, friendly, family-flavored service. This was a refreshing, delightful place to stay in... Read more

We loved staying for a night in this charming and friendly family run motel. In fact, we liked it so much we looked for a second night but of course it was fully booked - not surprising given the great value for money this place offers. The setting is beautiful, nice pool, very friendly staff, decent continental style breakfast and comfortable enough rooms at a very reasonable price. Very convenient for the sequoia national park. I pre-booked this motel for a one night stopover from Yosemite to Los Angeles and it was perfectly placed to enable us to drive through the Sequoia National Park and have an evening's rest before travelling on the next day. So reminiscent of days gone by. Lovely setting in a horseshoe configuration around a large swimming pool with open grassed area for children to play. There is also a children's play area and outdoor games to play. Short stroll to a lovely river too. The rooms are clean and spacious and get this, they have mouthwash, shower caps and make up remover pads as well as large soaps and shampoo. Great fluffy towels and soft bedding. Would love to have stayed longer but they were fully booked.

Cute and quaint. Clean and well taken care of, just not updated. Family/owners were very friendly and accommodating. Swimming pool looked nice although we didn't use it. Breakfast was kinda silly and they don't open the office until 9am, so if you want it before then, they tell you to grab it the night before. There was a couple fruit choices and packaged danishes/bagels and packages of instant oatmeal. We would stay again if in the area. It served it's purpose and felt safe and clean.

The Lazy J is the exact type of hotel you'd expect to see in a tiny town just outside a national park. It's quaint, no-frills approach to lodging was the perfect compliment to a couple days of hanging out with the sequoias. The room was clean and comfortable, and the orientation of small buildings lent a cozy quality to the stay. All of the staff who I interacted with we're pleasant and knowledgeable. Booked this based on the high Tripadvisor ranking. Didn't get the high ranking at all, ranked as the worst hotel of our 3 week trip. The location and set-up of the place is nice with buildings around a central place. The negative is that the hotel has not had any updates in possibly the last 25 years. It looks and feels tired and ran down in every way. The service is also very limited with a breakfast facility that only consist of some pre-packeged stuff that you can take out from 9 am.

I'm torn as to how to review our stay... It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. We stayed in room four. It was a nice size for the 3 of us and the dog. We had a small kitchen. The bathroom was a bit tiny and had a pocket door that didn't close properly, which would have been ok had I been traveling with anyone other than my 75 year old parents. The location here is at the edge of town. It was quiet. The rooms & cabins were spread out. Our room was small but it was clean & the bed was comfy. Breakfast was not very convenient. For some reason our GPS did not find this address. The pool looked nice, but we were too tired to take a dip. I would stay here again. The check in lady was a sweetheart.

Very nice rooms (they called them duplexes). Quiet. Very homey folks. A little girl was in charge of the desk until I asked a "hard" question. She went and got her mom. Their living quarters are right there behind the main desk. Gave me their desk copy (last copy) of the Park Brochure. They leave a note on the door when they "run to the post office" "be right back". Good sleep. Bought me a Sequoia snow globe there. Breakfast is mostly packaged food. Plan on breakfast somewhere else.
