This inn not for everyone; if you are looking for bells and whistles you will be disappointed. What it does offer is a family who runs it like you are a welcomed guest. They were friendly and fun to chat with and told us about the area. There are sheep and goats on the property which we loved petting. The owner told us about a river that runs along the property so we hiked to it and so glad we did! Free continental breakfast was good. If you enjoy the outdoors than you will love this place too!

This motel reminds me of old fashioned Motor Court Motels from the 50's. You do not find many of these places as clean and neat as this one. The setting is great! We visited in January but a summer visit with small children would bring out best of this place. It has a swimming pool, volleyball court, horse shoe game, located in a beautiful Valley, river just behind it. Don't let the 50's bedspread fool you. Management was friendly and professional.

This was a fine place to stay for the night. We arrived super early and were allowed to check in early. The room was clean, it had what we needed and the cleaning staff were very happy. You can take your continental breakfast to your room if you're checking out before 9:30 am. Breakfast was granola bars, hot oatmeal, v8, apple juice , bagels, cream cheese, jelly, you get the picture. We did laundry and ate down the street at the pizza factory. We were in the area for the national parks.

Located at the south end of Three Rivers and nicely decorated for the holidays. Booked this after cancelling another motel in TR due to poor TA reviews. Glad we did! Reception was very friendly and had all the breakfast items out. There was a coffeemaker, canned juices, packaged pastries and bagels with cream cheese, jams etc to be taken away. They said the office would open at 8, although in the book it says 9am. We took ours with us each evening so didn't have to rely on office opening on time... Read more

Very nice rooms (they called them duplexes). Quiet. Very homey folks. A little girl was in charge of the desk until I asked a "hard" question. She went and got her mom. Their living quarters are right there behind the main desk. Gave me their desk copy (last copy) of the Park Brochure. They leave a note on the door when they "run to the post office" "be right back". Good sleep. Bought me a Sequoia snow globe there. Breakfast is mostly packaged food. Plan on breakfast somewhere else.

The location here is at the edge of town. It was quiet. The rooms & cabins were spread out. Our room was small but it was clean & the bed was comfy. Breakfast was not very convenient. For some reason our GPS did not find this address. The pool looked nice, but we were too tired to take a dip. I would stay here again. The check in lady was a sweetheart.

I'm torn as to how to review our stay... It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great either. We stayed in room four. It was a nice size for the 3 of us and the dog. We had a small kitchen. The bathroom was a bit tiny and had a pocket door that didn't close properly, which would have been ok had I been traveling with anyone other than my 75 year old parents. We didn't realize that the shower didn't work until Saturday morning right before we were heading to Sequoia National park. We were in the park ... Read more

Located just before Three Rivers on the way to Sequoia National Park. It is an old fashioned establishment but the cabin we stayed in was clean and had everything we needed. The reception staff were helpful and friendly. We were given a map of the town with all the places to eat. Would be happy to stay here again.

Booked this based on the high Tripadvisor ranking. Didn't get the high ranking at all, ranked as the worst hotel of our 3 week trip. The location and set-up of the place is nice with buildings around a central place. The negative is that the hotel has not had any updates in possibly the last 25 years. It looks and feels tired and ran down in every way. The service is also very limited with a breakfast facility that only consist of some pre-packeged stuff that you can take out from 9 am.

The Lazy J is the exact type of hotel you'd expect to see in a tiny town just outside a national park. It's quaint, no-frills approach to lodging was the perfect compliment to a couple days of hanging out with the sequoias. The room was clean and comfortable, and the orientation of small buildings lent a cozy quality to the stay. All of the staff who I interacted with we're pleasant and knowledgeable. They even include a small map highlighting the local shops and restaurants. Just be careful... Read more
