I stayed here for two nights by myself. It was so quiet at night, perfect for me who needed much sleep after a busy long week. The staff were warm, friendly, and knowledgeable about the surrounding restaurants and vineyards. I felt right at home, which was important for me, a solo traveler. The room was so cozy and nicely decorated, I could just sit there all day gazing at the beautiful vineyard outside without leaving the room. I ordered a massage and the service was great! This inn is a very quiet, very comfortable place. Rooms/cottages are individualized to give a unique and private experience. It is just north of St. Helena, close to some of the finest Napa wineries. The inn has lost of wineries with tasting discounts. Pool area is fun and afternoon wine tasting and appetizers from a different winery is a great way to start the evening. Highly recommend.

We visited Wine Country Inn in May, it is a charming hotel with quaint rooms and a beautiful garden. The breakfast was delicious! Our room had a balcony overlooking the vineyards and it was a stunning view enveloped in mist.

I would've given it 4 1/2 stars but there isn't an option for 1/2 stars. Overall, The Wine Country Inn is an excellent place to stay if you're visiting Napa Valley. Centrally located to all wineries and you are surrounded on both sides of the Inn by wineries. We loved our stay here. I took 1/2 star away because of 2 things. One, when we booked the Inn, they offered van service for drop-offs and pickup for restuarants at night, but when we checked in, we were told they stopped that benefit. Someo... Read more

Over the past 5 years, my wife and I have visited Napa on 4 occasions. Each time we stayed at the Wine Country Inn. After, our first visit, my wife refused to stay any place else, even though we could stay at a Westin property for free using SPG points. If you ask my wife why she feels this way, the first thing that she would refer to is the beautiful breakfasts created by Chef Ryan. She has accumulated many of his recipes over the years. In addition, he is a wonderful representative of the Inn.... Read more

This was our first time to St. Helena and we were recommended this Inn by our friends who had stayed before and raved about it. The property itself: The gardens around the property are beautiful. Delightful herb and floral smells. The rooms, however, were tired. As another reviewer stated, it's like being at Grandma's house. Considering the cost of the rooms per night, I would expect something more updated. Our bathroom was dirty upon arrival, but when we brought it to the attention of the Ass... Read more

This was our third stay and the first under new ownership. There were subtle differences that are hard to be fact based about such as I felt like the breakfast was scaled back and the linens seemed stiffer or more industrial. But the biggest change was elimination of the evening shuttle to local restaurants. Not sure of the reasoning for this. Many moderate priced hotels offer local dinner shuttle service. The value for the price of the Wine Country Inn has diminished in my view. It is qua... Read more

This was our fourth visit to Wine Country Inn and we always stay in the California Cottage Room #31. For those keeping score it is a beautiful King Suite overlooking the vineyard with an amazing patio big enough to entertain friends. It is also one of the most expensive rooms, but up until now it was worth every penny. Where to start? What once was a charming slice of heaven has turned into a cold and commercialized B&B. The former Owner Jim Smith truly understood service and what it took to cr... Read more

The Wine Country Inn is a charming place to stay while visiting Napa. Nice cozy rooms with a country view, friendly staff and a wonderful breakfast is included. I needed some tailoring done in a hurry and they found me the right place and called ahead--it was first class service. The only downside to the Inn is no bar or food between breakfast and the evening wine tasting but I did notice that they were about to make that change and it appears work was starting when I checked out on June 6th. Just returned from our 3rd visit to the Wine Country Inn, St. Helena, a property that I had previously given a 5 star rating to. I am very sorry to say that the changes that the new ownership (early 2016) has taken a lot of the joy out of this place. If you're a first time guest, you wouldn't necessarily realize what you were missing, but as someone who has spent a great deal of time (and might I add money) at this location, we were more than disappointed! 1) The fabulous breakfast is now a bas... It's so cozy and quaint, the proprietors are present and friendly, and the staff is very accommodating. We loved staying here, in the heart of everything! They have a little wine reception in the evening, where you get to meet the wine makers of various wines. They have shuttle service to the best restaurants, and you can even plan excursions with them. They make an amazing breakfast picnic, which you can enjoy in their main dining room, or have it delivered to your room. Fresh juice, hom... Read more

We've been coming to the Wine Country Inn for over 25 years. It was recently sold and things are not the same. The setting is still wonderful, grounds and pool area immaculate but once inside there is no comparison to years past. The rooms are showing their age. Hallway carpeting is in need of replacement. The breakfast area is still the same and still quite comfortable. However, the 2 things we loved most about the Inn were it's afternoon wine pouring by local small wineries, with catered (or ... This place is so serene. Quiet and comfy. The front desk Staff was awesome and a big hep to us as first-timers to the area. Our room was great. Nice bed and living room. We also enjoyed the private patio. Lots of nature in this area. Will return for another get away.

My husband and I have been staying at the Wine Country Inn for more than 20 years and is always a highlight of our year. However, the inn was sold several months ago and it's no longer the unique place it was. We have stayed in our favorite room for 10 years and were extremely disappointed to find out when we checked in that the AC was broken. We were offered a choice of other supposedly equivalent rooms but it wasn't the same. The price was reduced somewhat, but I felt it really wasn't worth... Read more

We very much enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Wine Country inn ‚?? it‚??s a located slightly out of town (c 5min drive) in the country and enjoys some great views of the local vineyards. We had booked Room 24 (a Vineyard view room with a small balcony) which has a large (and comfy) king size bed and small lounge area. The bathroom had both a bath and shower and large picture window with lovely views across the vineyards and as others have said the towels were lovely. The room was clean and well... Read more

We were at the Wine Country Inn for 4 nights during the first week in July--our 4th visit in 16 years. We learned on arrival that ownership had recently changed. It certainly showed--and not all in a positive way. Although the grounds and the pool are all still lovely, the remainder of our experience was not nearly as pleasant or memorable compared to our past stays. 1) The new towels are wonderful--thick, luscious resort/spa towels. The new all white bedding was fine--not the highest threa... Read more

I have been here two or three times in the past, but I chose not to stay here this year. I was really looking forward to it, because I had bragged to some friends and they wanted to stay there with us this year. We have a friend who owns a small winery here, and they have a pig roast every September to celebrate their wine club members. What we especially appreciated were the delicious breakfasts, the beautiful rooms, and the wine tasting afternoon at the Inn. Another plus was definitely the ... Read more

We've been coming here for 30 years mainly to escape from our cold summer fog. We were a little concerned after reading the negative reviews from long time guests like us. We were not at all disappointed. True, the new corporate owners don't offer the same perks as the Smiths did, such as upgrades and return visitor discounts, but I suppose that's to be expected. The grounds are immaculate and if you've had enough wine tasting, just enjoy the pool. We were the only people there for two days, f... Read more

My husband and I travel frequently and when we stay at properties in this price range we ( OK, I) can be pretty particular . This was our first visit to Wine Country Inn. This is an incredibly beautiful property; rooms and gardens/patios are all of 5 star quality. Towels, bedding are luxurious! We were a bit concerned after reading some of the negative reviews but none have played out to be true during our stay. Service has been over -the -top amazing. Some of the best views you will get out of a hotel in Napa! Friendly, personal service and a wonderful breakfast in the morning! Convenient location to great wineries and a nice pool to relax in at the end of the day. Duckhorn Vineyards is less than a quarter mile away. You need a reservation but the tasting is worth it!

We stayed there for 2 nights in May. Location was great but the room were old and run down. Especially the show/bathroom. They started cleaning the chimney of our room on Monday morning at 10 am. It was loud and they woke us up. With the rate that they are charging us they can do a better job.
