Hampton Inns are my go-to, because their quality is consistently high, their service is exemplary, and their price is reasonable. The HI in South San Francisco is close to the airport (SFO), with a free shuttle. The property is being refurbed at the moment (May 2016), but I didn't experience any disruptions. Room seemed small by HI standards, but was fine. The showerhead in the bathroom was really low pressure. But the nasty surprise was a pillow on the bed with a fresh bloodstain, right on... Read more

While this Hampton was under remodeling it still work well for the travelers. The staff went overboard to make us feel there care. Always friendly and always going out of the way. I did appreciate seeing the construction workers working kind of feverishly to get things done and being cognizant of the travelers at the same time. The front desk gave us directions and recommendations to restaurants and that worked very well for us.

This is the first time we stayed at Hampton Inn. I chose it because it has been newly renovated. I must stress that the renovation was truly a renovation and not just refurbishment. I love the design of the room. I love how they make use of the closet door to create a partition between the entrance/sink and bathroom so that I could move freely in that area without worrying waking my husband. I also love how they design the sink/counter area which provides ample space for my skincares and whatnot... Read more

I didn't want to stay here, but I picked the worst time to travel to travel to this area. I picked college graduation weekend. There are about 10 large universities between San Francisco and San Jose and they were all graduating this week. I have stayed in a few Hampton Inns in the past on vacation, but never on business. I stayed here because it was the only Hilton property priced below $350 a night at $250 a night. Even though the price was on the pricey side, the service and amenties were n... Read more

We stayed one night because we had an early flight. The hotel is really close to the airport and to the rental car return location. Our room was very clean, looked like it had been remodeled recently. The King bed was comfortable. The full-size couch mattress was clean and comfortable. All the extra bedding for the couch bed was in the room. We will definitely stay here in the future. Great breakfast in the morning, too. There weren't many restaurants nearby. We made reservations at another hotel before coming into town. When we arrived, we found the other hotel unacceptable. The room we were given faced an overpass and was next to train tracks. The lobby was dirty, the smoke-free room smelled like smoke, the furniture in the room was torn, and the room was extremely dark. They offered us another room, but it was not much better. We went a couple of blocks to The Hampton Inn. We usually stay at one of the Hampton hotels, but when we made our rese... Read more

Nice hotel, clean and modern. staff at check in is average and friendly, they don't recognize elite members like other Hilton properties do. Breakfast is good, nice selection. Only restaurant within walking distance is the Embassy Suites next door with a bar and limited dinner menu. There is a great Italian place nearby that does deliver pretty fast. Parking can be tight here.

My main problem with this hotel is the extremely uncomfortable sofa bed. The front desk person said it was new, but a poor quality new mattress doesn't make it good or comfortable. The bars of the bed and the springs poked through and hurt my back. The thing that got me most upset was not the fact that they had these mattresses but rather when I asked for some cushioning on the bed like an extra comforter, the front desk person refused. When I kept asking she came up with a story on how they ... Read more

I've stayed at more than a dozen Hampton Inns in the last year, and this one was the second worst. It seems to be under renovation -- there were lots of boards and artwork stacked on the floor and against the wall directly across from my room; there was a guy actively painting the elevator trim while we needed to get in the elevator; we rode the elevator with the guy holding his sloshing, open paint bucket and wet paint brush; and the lobby appears to be missing various light fixtures, as there... We stayed overnight to catch an early flight out of SFO. We were not expecting such high quality from a relatively inexpensive near-the-airport hotel. Everything was great -- the rooms were spacious and quiet (and decorated in the latest fashion, with distressed-faux-wood tile and a big sliding barnhouse door separating the bathroom/entry from the room). Breakfast was good. Wish we'd had time to use the exercise facility. We would definitely stay here again.

Rates increased per night by over 25% and worse, they instituted a 7 day cancellation policy in fine print. When we're used to 24 hours, they should put in big, bold red letters that the policy has changed. I had to pay $450 for a night that I didn't even use because on the 6th day before my reservation I tried to cancel but they wouldn't let me. They showed no concern or flexibility.

We stayed here while on a massive road trip and it was just ok. The prices were over 2x as much as most Hamptons we have stayed in over the past several years and I didn't understand why, other than the fact that it is in San Francisco I suppose. It was older and not as clean as I expect from a Hilton property. Breakfast was fine (same as every other Hampton) and the front desk attendees were so so.
