It's a close drive to Monterey's Fisherman's Warf. You can see the sea from most rooms. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is good. The classic DIY sausage biscuits, with lots of other options, such as pancakes, a wide selection of bread and cereal, yogurts, fruit, juices. My husband and I just stayed there to sleep. We left early and came back late as we were out exploring the coast!

This hotel is currently undergoing some kind of renovation which it needs badly. The room was just okay and fine for a quick overnight stop, but nothing to recommend a return trip until after renovations are completed. The included breakfast was better than some, but still nothing special. All-in-all an acceptable place for a quick overnight, but I would recommend waiting until renovations are completed before another stay.

This is not just one of the most economical Holiday Inn properties on the Monterey Peninsula, but one of the best ones for a good sleep, great breakfast and beautiful surroundings. The "BUT" is that even though I have stayed there many times and am a Spire Elite Member, I was very disappointed when I prepaid well ahead of time for my latest three-night stay at what was supposed to be the lowest guaranteed rates, only to find that rooms were offered there a week before my stay at $12 cheaper pe... I stayed at this hotel in both April and May of 2016. For the April stay they were not able to provide a receipt, which is an issue for a business trip. It was almost 2 weeks before they billed my credit card. I had to threaten to dispute the charge to get a receipt. During the May stay there were wifi issues on the front side of the third floor. I had no such issues n the back side of he 2nd floor the week before. It was necessary to go to the lobby to use wifi. I asked to speak with the... Read more

This hotel was not situated directly in Monterey, but was about 5-10 minute drive. Parking was plentiful which was nice because we left several times and never had an issue finding parking. It's also close to Fort Ord State sand dunes which were really beautiful and right next door to an In-N-Out burger! Which is awesome because you can just walk right to it. Other restaurants are close by as well that can be walked to. They had fresh baked cookies upon our check in which was a nice touch. Break... Read more

Location, location, location + Consistency. Nothing fancy here. Perfect central location for Monterey, Carmel, Seaside, and Marina. We wanted to see the beaches including Fort Ord State Beach in Marina, but also spend time in Monterey, Carmel. Price is decent considering the cleanliness and the great breakfast. This HIE has a huge breakfast room, booths tables, bars and many TVs. Perfect for any family configuration.

Two hotel employees were caught looking in our windows while we were getting ready. Our blinds were tilted up and they had their hand around their face against the window looking in at my husband the first time. The second time was me and my minor daughter. They both claimed to be checking if they can clean the room but neither had housekeeping uniforms or equipment. The response from the manager was minimal and uncaring.

We truly loved staying here. Super friendly service and a wonderful location. We got in late in the afternoon and our kids loved swimming in the pool. For dinner we walked to Chilis next door. We left after breakfast which was the usual Holiday Inn Express fare and was plentiful and good. We drove to the beach which was just 3 min away and had some playtime there. This was my families second time staying here and we were happy with this Hotel both times.

This property was different but nice. The breakfast area was big and just as expected. We really enjoyed Jessica at night when we rolled in late. She was very friendly and helpful. The room was nice and the shower great. It's right across the street from Roberts Lake which is our last name. The beach access was very close. Loved our stay!

We stayed here for three nights the first week of June 2016. Seaside,CA is a suburb of Monterey, this hotel is less than 5 minutes to the Monterey Piers and Aquarium. Very nice location, within walking distance to the beach. Grocery store near by and several restaurants close-within walking distance also. The staff were all very friendly, clean rooms. We used the pool on several occasions. Like all HI Express locations, a good hot breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel was an excellent value for this area. The room was small with a very small bathroom. The vanity area was just outside the bathroom. Room had a microwave and mini-fridge. A very good breakfast was complimentary. The hotel is 5-story with room access from the outside. The hotel is just a short drive to the Wharf and excellent restaurants. Also just a short drive to golf at Black Horse and Bayonet.

We stayed on the first floor, which was great for small children including toddlers and infants. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable but the pillow was yellow, which I found gross. We stayed here for one night while visiting Monterey. It is very close to Monterey and it's attractions. The hotel was clean but the room was small and the bathroom extremely small. The ads say it is a hotel, but when you access the rooms from outside, it is a motel. They have built a building to house the front desk and breakfast room, but you have to go outside to get to your room. There is not a secure entry way. The good location is within ten minutes driving distance to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row, and Carmel. On the outer walls of the building, there were many mosquito-type bugs near the lights outside of each room. Some of these bugs were also in our two adjoining rooms on the ceilings. The staff were most helpful. The building is dated but decent. Although the lion's share of the upgrades are in the lobby / breakfast areas, the room was clean an satisfactory. The easy proximity to a number of things in Seaside (e.g., gas stations, nice yet inexpensive places to eat at, etc.), as well as just being minutes from Monterey itself is very convenient. The complimentary breakfast, unfortunately, can be catagorized as no better than average (or just a bit less), unfortunately.

While the hotel has done a good job renovating the public reception, lounge and dining areas, the rooms are quite different from the 2 other express hotels I stayed on this trip.
