One of the two front desk staff members with whom I interacted during my two-night stay was shockingly unhelpful (not to say "inept"). When I first arrived on Sunday evening, the wireless network turned out to be down in the so-called "carriage house" (across the street from the main building), but first I had to spend a full hour trying various measures to connect and asking the front desk for help before she finally checked the router and discovered that the network was malfunctioning. We stayed in Room 21 in the old section of the hotel. The room was large and charming, window boxes of red geraniums outside the double hung windows. The location was very convenient. I felt the room was very clean but there was a random shampoo bottle cap on the rim of the tub.The TV needs to be up graded to a flat screen. The pillows were hard and lumpy. We asked the front desk for wine glasses and we were told to use the tumblers in the bath. On check in we were not directed to the elevator,... Read more

We got put in the Carriage House, which is the property across the street that belongs to this Hotel. (We didn't know this was even a possibility). We are the only party over here, In the Carriage House, yet they still put us in a room directly on the street, right next to the road at the entrance. (They had rooms deeper into the courtyard that were less noisy and also an upper level, where you might safely open a window to get rid of the moldy smell). But instead they just put us in the easi... Read more

Just okay. Outdated compared to other hotels we have stayed in. After our stay, my cc was double charged and after contacting the hotel- they stated it was my credit card company's fault. Not very helpful. Wouldn't stay there again.

We had a very nice stay at the Hotel La Rose. It is an old hotel, a little quirky but nice enough. A little dated, nothing fancy, but perfectly acceptable. Rooms are a decent size and the beds are fairly comfortable. The free wi-fi only seems to work in the lobby. Free continental breakfast was a nice touch. Nothing fancy, just exactly what you would expect.

This historical hotel provides spacious & comfortable rooms with a lovely ambience. Room quiet, very comfortable bed with good bathroom facilities including good toiletries. Breakfast reasonable. Good fruit selection but pastries ordinary. Easy walking distance to good restaurants & cafes.

Our room was spacious and well appointed. The amenities were quality, and I applaud that original windows are operational. The breakfast had fresh fruit that was nice. We got there really late, and the parking lot is a bit away from the hotel. It didn't feel entirely safe when the (I assume) homeless man kept walking by yelling to invisible companions and gesturing wildly.

We chose this hotel because of location, near to an event we were attending. We were not disappointed in that regard. The hotel dates from 1907 and is historical in that regard and that was a minor factor in the selection process. We like old places with unique furnishings. That said, we were assigned a room across the street in a newer building which was pretty much just a standard motel room. We will know better next time ....

Normally we avoid "historic hotels" like the plague but took a chance on Hotel La Rose based on some trip advisor reports. That was a mistake. We are native Santa Rosans who haven't lived in California for over 40 years. Growing up, this hotel was a seedy establishment in an even worse section of town. Even though the hotel has been "refurbished" it is still old looking and smells musty. We started off on the wrong foot when we arrived at 4:35 PM after an all day cross country trip and were... We just checked out from the hotel after staying 3 nights there and I have to say, we were very pleased (more so than I expected), with our stay. I loved the vintage feel of the rooms and the historic spot. Even though it's clearly old, the room and bathroom were very clean. I loved how roomy the shower was and the pressure was great. Our cable didn't work the first 2 nights but the girls at the front desk were extremely helpful and offered us a discount without us evening asking or really compl... Read more

I've reviewed this hotel before. It hasn't changed much. I like historic hotels so its perfect for me. The furnishings are comfortable, the linens soft and clean. I found staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast is ordinary continental. There are many interesting shops and good restaurants within a block. The best thing for me is we can ride our bikes out on a nearby bike path that meanders out into the country. If you are a hardcore bicyclist (my husband) you'll need to break out of the path o... Great quaint hotel with an awesome bed and breakfast feel. They provide a nice continental breakfast in the morning. The location is great with a wide variety of dining options. Once you park you can walk to many shops and restaurants.

This was our second stay at a "Boutique" Hotel, and we were very happy with it. The room arrangement was a little awkward, but there are limitations when renovating old places and trying to keep the original flavor. Pros: Room was clean and comfortable, conveniently located and a little trip back in time. Staff was pleasant. Cons: Parking was across the street (though not terribly far away) and the area has a lot of homeless. We ended up skipping the free breakfast because it was mostly conti... Read more

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights over our wedding weekend. This hotel is historic and the rooms are funky but beautiful. It does not feel like a hotel! More like a room in a friend's house, but is still very private. Lots of our wedding guests stayed here too, and it was fun to all be close together. We could look out our balconies and talk to each other. It is in a great location- close to downtown Santa Rosa with lots of cafes, restaurants, and bars nearby.

Absolutely love this place. It's a wonderful mix of old and new and the price was right. Cleaning was right on point, no issues there, when we went down to breakfast the man that set everything up was friendly and helpful as well as the front desk person. Would definitely come again if I were in the area

I stayed three nights while attending a family function. I was on the 4th floor in the original building. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean. I appreciated the fact that the windows opened so I could let in the blessed cooling fog at night, and that I could shut the window in the afternoon and let the air conditioning take over when the temperature started to sizzle. Breakfast was basic, but adequate. I also enjoyed standing on the 4th floor fire escape and looking at the Sono... Read more

The hotel has old, cute charm and is in a great location, but for what we paid, there should have been a mini fridge and access to ice...just a few more amenities. Not having the adorable onsite restaurant in use seems like such a waste.

My husband and I stayed at La Rose for a week while attending a wedding in Healdsburg. We opted not to stay at one of the chain hotels in town and very glad we did! La Rose was charming and local. We received a free upgrade to a suite because of our length of stay. The room and bathroom were very clean. The location can't be beat! An easy walk to shops and restaurants. There is a lovely walking trail along the creek as well. Check out the visitors' center across the street. All the info you need... Read more

We stayed here for a weekend to participate in a half marathon event. The hotel is very clean and quiet. I gave this place 5 starts because of the value. At the price we paid, we could have stayed in a major-chain hotel, but opted to try something different. I'm glad we did. The outside of the hotel doesn't give any hint of the charm of the inside. Parking is behind the coffee shop located kitty corner. The receptionist/lobby area is very charming. Going through the hallways and stairw... Read more

its clean, but old. other building has stairs only - not good - homeless across the street, parking is across the street its just not convenient. Gal at the front desk, did not give a hoot weather we stayed or not - so we cancelled our room and went elsewhere . We had a bad feeling. Always go with your gut, its usually right and we did

We choose to stay at Hotel La Rose because of it being in historic district. We stayed in the carriage house. Loved the antique furniture and the retro look and feel. There were several homeless people in area but we felt safe. The homeless mission was around the block. Was a little odd having to park around the corner but felt safe. The carriage house was built in the 80's they've done a great job making it blend with the old hotel.....

We love this home away from home. We are booking to stay at Hotel La Rose, yet again for the Heirloom Expo. It feels like home.. Victorian stone front in old Railroad Square downtown and lovely authentic 'period' furnishings inside. I grew up in a home like this. Yes, steep stairs to room, which is normal for that period, and not long.. if you can't do stairs, be sure to ask for one of the ground floor rooms, maybe in the carriage house - which have ground floor private courtyards and walk-stra... First things first, this hotel is across the street from a homeless shelter so if that makes you uncomfortable then this is not the hotel for you. In our time there we had no issues and never felt pressured or threatened. Finding the parking is also a little tricky as it is across the street behind a cafe but once we found it it was fine and plentiful. The hotel is quaint and really rather nice with good sized bedrooms that are comfortable. Other than as noted above the hotel is in a really... Read more
