Travelling up from Los Angeles, we went past San Francisco into wine country, and found the Hotel La Rose. What a beautiful little hotel! We booked for the one night, and were roomed in the Carriage House annex. What a fabulous, peaceful setting! Having spent one night, and wanting to see more of Santa Rosa - and recuperate before going to San Fran.- we booked for another night's stay. A lovely hotel, with charming and very helpful staff, we were so glad to have found this little gem. It is set ... Read more

This is a historic building, circa 1907. It is well maintained, but does need some work. I stayed in the period style hotel, with updated bathrooms. The decor fit, with wallpaper, reproduction framed art, and older style furnishings. The televisions are old CRT type, and emit a loud high pitch noise which is a little annoying. My friend and I needed an overnight place close for a conference in Santa Rosa. It was a rose conference so I was intrigued by the name of the hotel. It met all of my expectations and then some. Old world charm still exists in the building, the staff bent over backwards to answer our questions, and our room was delightful. I told my friend I was sure we would have real napkins, plates and silverware for breakfast and we had that plus good coffee, HOT hard boiled eggs, and everything was deli... Read more

The staff is unprofessional and the General Manager Bob, is an empty suit and unresponsive when confronted with problems. The staff and the management will not address the problem of guest smoking marijuana in their rooms and smelling up an entire floor. Bob did not care and did nothing to address the problem. Further more they have a long term guest who walks around at 6pm in her robe, complaining that her comfort dog is being disturbed. This guest has her windows barricaded with wood cha... Read more

Santa Rosa has a surprisingly small number of hotels, given its location at the crossroads of several wine routes. Be careful, many accommodations tout themselves as "wine country inns" but are former motels in the more industrialized areas of town. To the contrary, the Hotel La Rose, on old Railroad Square, within walking distance of much of downtown Santa Rosa, is a perfect spot for visiting the area. The small staff is welcoming and helpful. the 1907 building is charming and nicely renovat... Read more
