The parking lot is very cramped, and there are lots of vagrants that pass through it. The 11am checkout time is too early. I couldn't control the room temperature. There is no guest laundry. The housekeeping/maintenance staff were loud and not very mindful of guests. The only positive thing I can say is that the TV had lots of channels, and the channel guide was functional. This hotel is just not worth the money, and it was quite expensive for this brand. I would try to find something in a nearb... Read more

I don't travel often but when I do, I always look for a Hampton Inn. I know I can count on clean bedding, bathrooms and property in general. It is a good value and the added bonus of a hot breakfast puts it at the top of my list! The lobby always has coffee and tea and friendly staff. This location is close to UCSC so visiting kids in school is easy.

Nice hotel. And not in a bad place. Close to everything. Clean and friendly. Good place. This part of the city is a bit run down. But still Santa Cruz is a interesting place. Very close to the university too. Room is the standard issue for this chain and there was good parking and standard breakfast.

We stayed at the Hampton for two reasons: we are Hilton-Honor members and the location. The room was of good size even though it lacked a closet. The linens and bed were comfortable. We were able to adjust the temperature as needed. The bathroom was very clean, and the complimentary toiletries were nice. We had breakfast on the first day but unless you're pressed for time or a strict budget, you're better off driving to another place for breakfast.

Bathroom was not clean, fan didn't work, had to ask for soap. breakfast was not good - hard boiled eggs were spoiled and when reported to staff, they left them on the counter for other customers to eat!

While traveling down the coast, we decided to stop in Santa Cruz for the night. Being a Friday night, most places we called were already booked. The Hampton had only 1 room left which we took. We paid more than we normally would, but were happy to have a nice place to stay. The hotel was very nice with good size rooms. The beds were comfortable. The complimentary breakfast offered a good selection and was well tended to. The entrance back on to Hwy 1 was right across the intersection. This is a ... Read more

Clean hotel and excellent staff. Not close to the beach but a drivable distance away. Staff most helpful. Accessible rooms are not ADA compliant. Room had many grab bars in the bathroom. Bathroom was large enough but instead of a shower there was a tub which was unaccessable.

The place was great. Close to the freeway, boardwalk and comes with breakfast. Denny's is next door for snacks and the weather is always nice. It also has a small heated pool. The only thing I would add is a washer dryer.

This hotel was a nice and clean hotel, close to the boardwalk, the owner and son were very happy to help in guiding us to the very small parking lot, there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, but, they were happy to help in bringing up suitcases. The breakfast room consisted of 2 small tables, the breakfast was good and hot. A small pool was inviting at the front of the hotel.

We enjoy Hampton Inn hotels, and this one is no exception. It is very clean and has a good location right off Highway 1. Check in was extremely fast and all the employees were very friendly. My only complaints are that the TV cut off at least once a day (easy to fix, just unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in, but really?) and the pillows are very uncomfortable, which made the sleep quality suffer. Luckily, my wife and I drove up from Southern California, and were able to bring our own p... Read more

I always stay at a Hampton but I didn't feel safe here. There were a multitude of homeless people hanging out back where the parking is. I would skip this hotel next time, especially if you are traveling with children like myself.

Upon arrival I was a bit skeptical. There were many homeless around the area, so felt a bit un-easy. But again it is Santa Cruz... It has a well lit parking lot so that made it better. very accommodating staff at check in All went well.

I went for an overnight with my 13 y/o daughter and her friends. The rooms were spotless and well appointed. The front desk was super helpful. From when I made the reservation to when I checked in and out. They even threw in a gift basket of martini's sparking cider for my daughter and her friends (it was a celebration). The breakfast was generous, fresh and better than I've seen in other similar hotels. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleased with the whole stay.

The staff were all friendly throughout our stay. We had to check on early to go to a wedding which they were able to accommodate. All of the staff asked if there was anything they could do and wished us a good day. The noise in our room, however would make me think long and hard about staying again.

We stay in many Hampton properties when we travel across the US several times a year, and as the saying goes "some are better than others." This one appears to be older and possibly not originally a Hampton. The first impression upon entering the lobby here was not great! But it could be, with a modern update! Staff checked us in, told us where to park and wanted nothing else to do with us. We were not given any information about breakfast times or anything, therefor we never experienced their "free" breakfast since each time we came looking for it there was none. Vending machines all empty and never restocked with drinks. Just a sad excuse for a Hilton owned hotel, and at $230 per night. Never again.

Another sub par Hampton, I know this is the low tier hilton chain but I have stayed at good hampton inns. This one is tired and old. Has that not fresh smell. Beds are old, sheets are crappy. The kind of place you don't want to walk barefoot in your room or in the bathroom. And all for just 200 a night.! The pool is the size of a prius. The place is just yucky..ok in a pinch but best to fund somewhere else.

The rooms let the noise come in from outside. A bit over prices for the room quality. Could of been the area but not really worth the price for one night. They had an average breakfast set up the guests in the morning. The swimming pool was a bi small and closed too early for you to enjoy it.

We have had to stay overnight in Santa Cruz several times for personal business. It is painful to have to pay resort-town summer prices when you are not vacationing for fun--especially when it is an unpleasant experience with dirty and unkempt rooms as when we stayed at another well known chain motel. This time we tried the Hampton which we have stayed at in other locations and what a difference! This is an older hotel that has been renovated somewhat recently. On the surface it looks nice enough, but there are little things that are odd, like the cable for the TV's running up the wall and over the doorway. Pretty good stay. Friendly front desk staff, gave me precise directions about things to do and places to go to. The room was clean, the bathroom was clean. The only negative I want to point out is the breakfast. It was OK, I have stayed at Hampton Inn's in the past and their breakfasts are usually very good. This one was average, the eggs were cold, took long to replenish and the pastries were dry.

We stayed here for a week to move our daughter to college- at one point we had 3 cars for a couple of days and the hotel was very accommodating to this. There was ample parking. The hotel it's self was nice, would have been easier to find if it had more signage. We didn't have the best experience but not the worst either...the room we were in 220 was extremely loud...the hotel is right on a busy street but it doesn't have dual pane windows to help with all the noise outside. With that being said there was no sleep because of the noise. All in all it would have been a much better stay if it had been a little more updated.
