I was visiting friends in Santa Barbara for the first time in many years and am so glad I had the opportunity to stay at the Canary. The hotel has personality and charm -- classic California elegance. As others have mentioned, you feel welcomed by the staff from the moment you arrive and cared for during your stay. Location is perfect -- the downtown shopping area is right out the door. The rooms are well appointed with attention paid to the details; the bed and pillows very comfortable (the m... Read more

The rooms are pretty and I love a good bathtub. The restaurant is very good. But I was awakened by garbage trucks and staff talking loudly in hallways at about 3 am and it was noisy for rest of night. No one asked me how my stay was when I checked out but when I asked where to get a newspaper they looked at me like I was from Mars. These are all first world problems but for me sleep while on business trips is paramount!

I am a big fan of the Kimpton Hotels and so excited to add this one to the list of my favorites! I would recommend this property to anyone going to Santa Barbara and I will definitely plan to come back. Everyone from valet, front desk and the pool were friendly and helpful. The front desk gave us excellent wine tasting recommendations, walking distance from the hotel. Also recommend the restaurant and using the bikes from the hotel to see the town!

We stayed one night in Santa Barbara and the hotel was ideal with a great downtown location. Service, rooms and roof top pool and bar were all excellent Yes, at night it was a little noisy with some motorbikes and car drivers enjoying the street. Service and quality inside the hotel could not be faulted

My friend won a sweepstakes for a suite for one night. What an awesome place! Right from pulling into valet. The guys were very helpful and very informative. Check in was very smooth...and a lively glass of wine was given at check in. The suite was immaculate!! VERY roomy, nicely done! They supply bathrobes, umbrella, safe, iron, (for a fee)wet bar, snacks. They have binoculars in the room for bird watching. The pool area on the roof was lovely. There was a bar there as well. What a stunning hotel this is. We stayed here on the Santa Barbara leg of our recent honeymoon and we were delighted with this hotel. Panoramic suite, roof top swimming pool with views of the mountains. Service was excellent, we were made to feel very special on our honeymoon by their welcoming gifts in our room. Sadly we only stayed one night but we plan to come back here in the not too distant future.

This is definitely one of my favorite hotels. Not only is it conveniently located. Near beach, and DT State street. The hotel has a beautiful rooftop pool. Stunning views. Rooms have amazing beds. Very comfy. The bar serves some of the best drinks in town. (thanks Stacey) and the restaurant Finch and Fork is considered one of the best in the are. The F & F burger is a must.

After a disappointing stay at the Waterfront in HB, we were excited as we drove up to this cute hotel. Valet guys were so attentive and really polite. Ian at the front desk has excellent customer service and was very personable. He asked if we were celebrating anything & we told him we were on our honeymoon. We had such a wonderful mother/daughter retreat at the Canary. They actually pay attention to reservation notes and for us their attentiveness blew us away. When we got to our suite, we had that instant feeling of joy that this was going to be a great stay! Best place in town ! Right in downtown and walking distance to all best shops and the beach. This is by far one of the most beautiful cities here in California. The Finch & Fork restaurant at this hotel was delicious. Thank you the friendly and helpful staff at the Canary. Awesome amenities and service and so quiet and before I forget beautiful views from the rooftop pool and bar. We hang out by pool during the morning and had a delicious room service breakfast up there!

The quality of the finishes is great. One nice feature is the 5pm complimentary wine tasting and apps. Its not a big production but kind of a nice touch.
