This particular Holiday Inn Express is located right off is State Street. The location is just perfect! You can literally walk out of your hotel and be near all the nice shops and restaurants. Not too far from the beach too. The lobby of the hotel has Spanish tiles and a cute fountain right in the middle which gives the hotel a warm and inviting feel to it when you walk in. The staff are extremely friendly. The rooms are average size and clean. Very cool looking with brick walls - like you're in... Read more

If I'm just staying one night in Santa Barbara, I usually stay at the Holiday Inn on Haley Street (formerly known as the Virginian). The hotel is just steps away from State Street - it's an easy walk to the pier and the Funk Zone and, of course, all the restaurants. I particularly like the fact that I can drive straight into the parking lot. Breakfast is included and, although I don't eat early, the food looked like standard breakfast fare.

We arrived and were able to use the hotel parking lot, though this cost $14 per night. The room ticked all of the usual Holiday Inn Express amenities including fridge and microwave. The bed was a King and we had a great night's sleep. The breakfast buffet was good though it was busy when we were there.

The hotel is in a perfect location, right off State St. We parked in their lot and just walked all over. There is a $14.00 fee, but it's certainly better then running back to your car every "75min" to move, plus having to negotiate the various one way streets. The staff was very friendly. We were scheduled for a first floor room, however, Carley was very accommodating to move us to the 3rd floor. Rooms were good size, 2 queen beds, very clean. Nice to have a fridge & micro. This is a convenient location. We can easily walk through downtown Santa Barbara, and follow the route to the beach. Parking onsite is a plus. The room is a bit older but not too cramped. The decor has a bit of Santa Barbara charm to it. The breakfast is one of the worst that I've seen. If you are looking for a convenient location with on site parking. This is the location for you. We didn't linger too much in the room, and I don't think one can. There's no view, no balcony, but again, ... Read more

Very quaint, historical building. Right in the middle of downtown Santa Barbara. Can't get over one piticuliar staff employee, her name is Carley, she is a for sure go to girl. Filled with all kinds good in formation. I would say her attitude made my stay a 10+.

I got a room on the third floor as i had requested quite rooms. The room was modern and had all the required things. The front desk night shift staff was very friendly and helpful. She even gave my wife a personal hand written birthday message. Location is right on the state street. Breakfast options were sufficient. Would definitely visit them again.

I just booked a room for my wife and myself for later this summer. The person on the phone was very nice and all went well until they transferred me to a promotional person. I was at work and didn??t have time. They of course had no pause in their script to even allow me a polite way to get off the call. The destinations they offered were not of interest to me and when I explained as such the woman on the phone just wouldn??t allow me to politely withdraw without spending $250. After the third... Good: - Clean / comfortable beds - Location close to nightlife, but not too close - Delicious free breakfast - Friendly staff - Free coffee and tea in the lobby - Lots of vending machines with drinks and snacks Bad: - Bike rentals are in bad shape, and lack baskets (for carrying wine and purses), and bells (for safety). - Parking is stacked when occupancy is high. - Rooms a little small

We spent the weekend here for UCSB graduation. The location is a block away from the State Street which has lots shops and restaurants. The rooms were clean and the service was great. They have their complimentary breakfast in the morning which is convenient. Since we were here for graduation, the room rate was very high. Note, there is a $14. overnight parking fee.

Interesting property as it is on the national Register of historic places so it had a nice ambiance in the room. Great location off State Street so it was easy to walk everywhere. We never got in the car after we parked it. Room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was not so good everything was packaged, nothing really fresh except the fruit. Eggs were questionable. Would stay there again.

We stopped over at Santa Barbara on our way from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Santa Barbara has a much slower pace of life compared to both San Francisco and LA. Holiday Inn Express at Santa Barbara is very beautiful. It feels like you have travelled to a different country or time! It is beautiful! The staff are very friendly and service oriented. Enjoyed our stay. Clean and comfortable accommodations. Welcoming and helpful staff. Early check-in permitted. Complimentary, self-serve breakfast well-maintained and a great start in our day. Breakfast staff pleasant, friendly, and gracious. Glad we were given a room towards the back--noise from local establishments could still be heard after 11:00 p.m. Will request a room even further back next time. Would stay here again.

Right in the heart of downtown Santa Barbara, restaurants, shopping, drinks, spas. You name it and it is all at your finger tips. The hotel was clean and has free breakfast. Monday to Friday there is a newspaper at your door. The staff was great and was willing to help you out with anything you might need.

This charmer is right of the main State Street allowing easy access to shopping and restaurants. Ask for your free water bottles for your in-room fridge or anything else you need from the can-do customer service staff. Convenient breakfast, lovely room, your home-away-from-home but with a vacation ambiance. You'll never find a better priced, more convenient, or lovelier hotel than this one. Since I discovered it, I keep going back to Santa Barbara.

Excellent location, towards the bottom of the Main Street, close to the sea and shops and restaurants. It is an old hotel converted into a modern hotel but retaining some of its old charm. Breakfast is basic. The rooms are comfortable but the walls are rather thin.

Excellent quality with updated decor (way better than the faux Victorian/country decor that many more expensive hotels in the area have). Our room with two doubles was very large and quiet, on the third floor facing W Haley St. A lovely private covered deck/patio on the second floor for guests to enjoy.
