Stayed two nights. Location is super-convenient to the Marin County Veterans Auditorium. Rooms are typical Embassy Suites bedroom + living room. Positives: food service very good: breakfast buffet was quite varied, with enough places to sit. Dinner a bit above average for hotel food. Negatives: when we got back after our day's activities around 3 pm, our room had not been cleaned. Keurig coffee maker in the room is a nice touch, but ours didn't work. Requested repair or replacement at the desk... Read more

The main level of the hotel was nice but the rooms were really dated, worn, and smelled musty. Overall it was clean but it was really not for me. The overpowering hotel smell and musty smell made my stay very uncomfortable

Evidence of age and lack of proper maintenance were everywhere. On the positive side the check-in process was great. The disappointment was primarily in regard to lack of response to maintenance issue and very evident signs of wear and tear in the room, i.e. torn drapery, window frames had peeled paint that had been painted over without first removing the peeled paint. The greatest disappointment was to return to the room after a day's work and find the empty soap box floating in the toilet bowl... Read more

The Father of the Bride booked a block of rooms at the Embassy and it was wonderful. The staff was very accommodating, including letting me borrow a dozen champagne glasses for us to have mimosas at the mobile hair salon that parked in the front side of the hotel and used an outdoor outlet. The entire staff made this a wonderful, memorable event for us, coming from PA. The food was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble including soy mild for breakfast.

We stayed here for 3 nights and we loved it! The hotel is clean, the room with the king size bed is huge. The bed is super comfy. The front desk personnel is friendly and always prompt to help you. We had an issue with the heating around 10 pm and they sent the technician to fix it right away. The breakfast is amazing, lots of different options and very good. Besides of the buffet you have the option of ordering omelette, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc to be prepared just for you. The free evening s... Read more

Very pleasant place to stay. Rooms and staff is nice. Quality of maintenance could be improved, they indicated they are about to renovate but the issues encountered had little to do with renovation. Main problem that bothered me was that breakfast service does not accommodate vegetarians, they pick up the omelette vegetables with same gloves they pick up meat and use the same pans without cleaning, even when told this is unacceptable. Obviously breakfast is high pressure time, but they should fi... Read more

The hotel is an easy drive to Muir Woods and Sausalito and just an hour south of the wine valleys. As with most Embassy Suites, it is dated, but it appears the Hilton corporation is making an effort to update them. The evening cocktail hour and the morning breakfast are always pleasant and well received, if not top shelf. I find the hotel to be a bargain and also a place to unwind a little.

My daughter and I stayed here 3 years ago, and I knew the hotel to be a good find. It did not disappoint this time. It is an older property, but it is well-kept. The staff was efficient and helpful, and the rooms were clean. The breakfast was fantastic. Getting to San Francisco is a short 25 minutes or so away, depending on traffic. I was there with a combination of business and pleasure this time, and my group headed to Muir Woods for our fun morning. It was an easy drive from the hotel, and we... Read more

I got an upgraded room on points and the carpet had stains and it smelled like smoke. When my wife notified the manager, he agreed and said, yeah we're due for some remodeling. Got back from the Giants game and ordered a salad with room service. They said 45 minutes at the latest. After an hour I cancelled the order because it was after 11. This property is immaculately clean and well kept. Although it is a bit isolated it is near the sheriff station and it feels safe. Quality of food ingredients is very very good but not spicy or particularly interesting, tends to be salty. The cocktail reception is clean but very repetitive and not worth talking about. The hotel has all it needs to be really good one with exception of WiFi. It has been complimentary, but unstable and horribly slow in our room. The hotel is fine otherwise, coo to 101, but quiet, clean and they serve good breakfast. Just the WiFi needs some improvement. Regardless that annoying fact, we would return without hesitation.

All in all, a good stay. The hotel definitely shows it's age, but everyone works hard to keep it as nice as they can. Breakfast (which is buffet and made-to-order omelettes) was lacking a little, bacon and sausage weren't very good quality. Had a fire alarm while we were there, but employees did their best to keep us informed. Would go back.

I've stayed at many Embassy Suites and they pretty much all look and feel the same. However, I was a little disappointed by the rooms at this one. They seemed a little bit smaller and the beds didn't seem up to the usual Embassy Suites standards. I was tempted to give a 3 star rating but it's tough to beat the happy hour and breakfast buffet. We've had the opportunity to stay in a number of ES's lately and each of them has felt like they were right out of South Florida in the 1970's. Pink walls, frilly awnings, watered down drinks and basic cheese and crackers in the happy hour and mediocre breakfast offerings. I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was very good especially Jonathan, the bartender! The food and service was really good. I ended up eating dinner every night at the hotel. The hotel offers the usual Embassy benefits such as the cooked to order breakfast and happy hour. Free parking. Close to Highway 101. My only (very minor) complaint is that they were a little cheap with the soaps, but I'm sure if I had asked, they would have given me all I wanted. I cannot brag about the food at the hotel restaurant, but it is a hotel restaurant. The happy ho... Read more

Very nice hotel. Felt the rooms were dated, but nice. Enjoyed the two rooms as we had a friend sleep on the couch. The evening reception and the breakfast were very nice. The waterfall and koi in the pond were restful. Definitely felt this was a good stay for us.

In our opinion, the hotel appeared dingy and needed remodeling. A/C in room couldn't keep up with heat and our room was hot. Breakfast buffet quality below typical Embassy Suites. Saw several dishes outside of rooms that were left on floor for at least 18 hours. On the plus side, front desk staff were exceptional and pool was nice.

As good as it gets. Wonderful location for us. We have been staying there for 16 years. Staff is very accommodating. Rooms are clean. Complimentary breakfasts are wonderful. Very convenient to San Francisco, Sonoma and Napa. Hotel is generally crowded but that does not present any discomfort since the are able to handle whomever is there.

This hotel is aging. The decor is tired, both in and out of the rooms. The room windowsill was literally covered in cracked and peeling paint. However the rooms are spacious, the bathroom functional, and it was quiet (even with a busy hotel full of families). In staying at this hotel you most likely won't be wow-ed nor will you be bitterly disappointed. It ticks all the basic boxes and that's about it. And for some travelers or trips, that works just fine.

Pretty decent hotel, as most Embassy Suites are. Rooms are a little dated, as is the decor throughout the property. Rooms are clean. The breakfast in the morning is cook to order and included, though very busy. The evening social has decent wine (though Californian), and snacks - which could be more substantial and healthier. WiFi is awful! Especially in the evening. Almost impossible to Skype Home.

Can't find a better value, more spacious room, or access to pool/hot tub for the lodging dollar spent. The free internet was an added bonus and allowed me to get some much needed work done while my wife slept in the other room of our suite.

Very good hotel in San Rafael Area, the room is very good, the staffs in the breakfast were very helpful in the contrary, the front desk staff they lack cheerfull face. The lobby is great, the room decor is nice for 4 star hotel.

There is something eerily dated about this hotel, a motel within a shell and the decor and rooms are getting tired. However, the hotel can still be recommended. Good size rooms, comfy beds and well enough equipped. As a plus there were free drinks and snacks in the evening. Friendly staff and easy free parking. If you want to visit San Francisco staying here would make perfect sense, it's a short drive away and the (SF) hotel prices with parking are getting ridiculous.

The hotel is beautiful, clean, and the complimentary breakfast is fantastic. We enjoyed walking in the adjacent park in the morning. The hotel has a beautiful lobby, and our room was clean and nicely appointed. We would stay here again.

When you first see the inside - it can be impressive. The center courtyard is open to 5 floors of balconies with a river of koi and a waterfall. Every evening they have a happy hour near the waterfall with veggies and chips and a select menu of free drinks. Breakfast is included every morning and as one frequent traveler who has had her fair share of hotel scrambled eggs - I appreciate being able to order over easy eggs! The rooms are large, with microwave and small fridge. The onsite resta... Read more

Overall the stay was good apart from the last night of my stay due to disturbance caused by next room occupants. Staff and service were excellent. Would be nice if breakfast time was extended by half an hour.

Convenient location. Clean, quiet and comfortable. Daily breakfast is appealing when you are traveling. Room was spacious. Staff was friendly and accommodated our breakfast requests. We did not participate in the early evening cocktail service.

My wife and I stayed at the San Rafael Embassy for one evening. Our plan was to spend some time by the beach, in San Fran and at the winery. It all worked out very well. The hotel is in the perfect location. We were taken care of by the hotel staff. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed for the weekend as a family. The public spaces of the hotel were quite nice - the hotel was built around a big, airy, open atrium with skylights lighting things up, a waterfall into koi ponds below, tables and chairs placed all around, and all the rooms opening out onto passages that overlooked the atrium. The elevators were glass-backed so you could look into the atrium as you rode up and down as well. It had a nice feeling and my 3-year-old loved wandering around and riding the eleva... Read more

I was welcomed as a Hilton hours and got a nice room on the 5th floor! We had initially arrived early and the front office gentleman we found was standoffish! But when we came back the lady who checked us in made us feel very welcome. The bed is big enough and comfortable. It was clean but we found part of the carpet still wet! The room is a suite with 2 TVs, microwave, fridge and coffee maker which makes it homely. I ordered room service and the food was delicious. The complimentary breakfast w... Read more

I was traveling on business in June. I stayed at the Embassy Suites for one night. The check-in was simple and pretty quick considering we arrived about 11pm and there was a line. They got me checked in have me bottled water and I headed to my room. It was clean, the bed was comfy and I slept well. I woke up too late for breakfast but they appeared to have a decent buffet. No issues...

We were trying a different area to stay while visiting SF this time. Didn't realize it is quite a drive getting over the bridge. This is an older property and it looks it. That said, breakfast was great, the suite we had was spacious and staff was excellent. Location is nice being away from the congestion of the city, but still a bit out of the way.

I've stayed at other ES hotels and found this one to be outdated and dirty. Meals in Resturant are poor quality. Upon my evening arrival the hotel lost power. The staff gave no help to light the rooms. No emergency plan to help anyone in need. Flash lights are cheap and for the unprepared the hotel should have them ready to hand out.

I had recently stayed at The Ritz and this experience far exceeded that stay. The beds were luxurious; the staff friendly, helpful and charming often going above and beyond the call of duty to make our vacation perfect; the facility was very clean, beautifully decorated, the countryside amazing, the amenities were surprising and delightful. Couldn't be better!

The Embassy Suites had very comfortable beds with feather pillows and down comforters. The suite was roomy. It was great to have a small refrigerator in the room which I used. The lobby area was lovely with lots of plants, a waterfall and koi ponds. The afternoon/evening reception was good. The wine was great. There could have been better selections of snacks. The restaurant for dinner was good with a nice atmosphere. The breakfast was average. The pastry was chewy and nothing was very hot. ... Read more

This Embassy Suite is about 25 yrs old. It is a very beautiful facility with the most beautiful atrium I have ever seen. The trees and plants are mature. A large tasteful waterfall with many large coy in the retaining ponds. It has a cozy atmosphere with very friendly helpful staff. The breakfast is complimentary with cook to order eggs and omelets.

I'd rate this a 3.5 if that was an option. I rounded down because it doesn't quite compare to other 4 out of 5 rating hotels I've stayed at. My room was spacious and clean. The staff was helpful and resolved an issue for me. The parking lot was a bit packed but not a problem. The hotel has a few signs of wear and tear but nothing to be concerned about. The free breakfast can't be beat with fresh made egg dishes. The room rate was a little high, but comparable to nearby properties only with bette... Read more
