I often say that hotels serve purposes. Our purpose for our stay at the Crowne Plaza LA Harbor was an overnight, short stay before we set off on our cruise. We selected the hotel due to its proximity to the Cruise Ship port. I booked online, directly with the hotel and pre-paid for the "best" rate. Our flight came in late and after our short trip from the airport, arrived close to midnight. We went to the desk to check in and were greeted by a desk clerk who was obviously not very interes... Just stayed one night before sailing on a cruise. All employees were very accommdating. Hotel was clean and quiet, even with some minor renovations going on. We were able to check in early and leave a little late. Hotel is a little pricey, but worth the extra $$. Wonderful shuttle service to cruise ships close by. The people at the front desk were especially nice.

I stayed here for 4 days in Room No 207. The room was clean ,Restaurant was ok. The hotel is located quiet far long beach and there is nothing much to discover in the vicinity. The hotel staff was friendly and restaurant staff was very courteous. However if you happen to take a glimpse into history don't forget to visit USS IOWA (world war 2 war ship now a museum) which is located at walking distance.

Stayed here recently and the building is nicely done. Room was nice, but really nothing better than a Hamton Inn or a Holiday Inn level off room though. I was surprised that in the bathroom there is not a single towel bar to even hang a hand towel let alone a bath towel.....Amenity wise, no free breakfast, not even coffee out for guest (free water pitcher out!), fee for parking...went to do laundry and was told that they don't sell guest size detergent, but the liquor store across the street do... Stayed before and after our Princess cruise. Stay and Sail was great. They kept our car 48 days at a reasonable price. We will definitely stay there whenever we cruise out of Los Angeles. Location is within walking distance of the port, the maritime museum and the USS Iowa which you can tour. The rooms are nice and breakfast is included.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza, LA Harbor for a business meeting. It was a nice hotel, and is undergoing a remodeling. The rooms were very nice, comfortable and quiet. Amanda, with the Front Desk was very nice and helpful! She has a great customer service attitude. (Unfortunately, the others did not). There is a gift shop there that is NEVER open!!!! It is independently operated, but they need to replace it. To get a soft drink, they tell you to walk 2 blocks to a 7/11. Not good custome... Read more

Excellent location for leaving on a Carnival cruise. The value for the room and parking are well worth it. Shuttle to and from cruise ship is super convenient. Avoid the restaurants down by the water (especially on the weekend) and instead walk up the street to the local neighborhood hangouts for grub and crafty brews.

I stayed her overnight for the first time in June. As an IHG member I was excited to stay at a Crown Plaza for the first time. (I normally choose Holiday Inn) The hotel is one block away fromt the harbor which is beautiful for a walk. However, it is about 3 blocks away (the opposite direction) to an uglier side of town. Upon check in, the lobby looks amazing. You get to your room and it is average. The room does not have a microwave, the windows were dirty, the handle for the door was filthy, an... Read more

Room was located on the 7th floor, nothing special. No view. Nearby had few restaurants, but pretty much a residential area without any places to do shopping. The one problem was that the card key kept not working - in the laundry room, hotel elevator and room. Literally was standing in front of my room trying to get in and unable to. Which obviously was quite annoying especially when you're tired from work and just want to get a good nice rest. Hotel front desk was okay, but felt like housekeep... Read more

Note: this review is from someone with "IHG Platinum" status, which could affect my experience at the hotel. Positive: Front desk staff was friendly and welcoming, couldn't have been better! Also, it is kinds of a not so new hotel but it is frequently remodeled. The good: rooms are adequate, double rooms have smallish beds, but the internet was excellent (speed and ease of connectivity). This hotel provides rooms for Cruise Ship travelers who want a night prior to their departure and provides rooms for container ship operators and crew as well as government agencies. The Entrance is a facade as it does not mirror the rooms. The rooms are in a huge need of repair and remodeling. My initial room was a corner suite. I wouldn't call this a 5 star resort, but it doesn't get much handier to get on a cruise ship at San Pedro. It is typical of a number of Marriott style resorts. A large property with the usual amenities. A decent restaurant, (think Howard Johnson's) not a bad bar, and a shuttle to the ship. (I think they are charging $10 bucks for the shuttle!) It's still the easiest way to get on the ship. You're probably a mile or less from the docks. We've stayed there several times. Once in a suite, and the ... Read more

If you are waiting for the cruise and need a bit of rest - then you can consider that place, although do not expect luxury. Good for one night. I used to stay at that hotel frequently, and I am considering to find a better place. The area seems pretty deserted, walking in the evening time might be problematic, hotel itself needs interior improvement, and restaurant needs new Chef, staff is excellent but without good Chef - no go. No chance to get an espresso - for that you need to go out.
