Got a good group rate for a conference at the nearby Fairmont. Otherwise, probably wouldn't book here. Room was clean, service was fine. $21 a day for valet parking was average for the area. But the in room TV did not broadcast the GS Warriors basketball game! Luckily Tanq, the hotel bar did have the game on and we did catch a little of the game. We ended up near the elevator which got loud a few times.

I spent two nights at this property this week and honestly it is a beautiful property with a very friendly and helpful staff. There are three reasons for a two review here. First, there are very limited options for a decent meal on Sunday nights since restaurant is closed then. You can get room servive but that is limited to finger food and a choice of three or four sandwiches. The staff sent me across the street to the Italian restaurant in the Westin which was quite nice. Second, both mor... Read more

I have stayed at the San Jose Marriott on many occasions and found it an exceptional property. The staff is VERY well trained. I am greeted enthusiastically, often immediately as I enter the front door. The front desk folks ALWAYS smile, make friendly banter, thank me for my loyalty and ask if need anything. The rooms are clean and with the efficient layout, you are only steps away from your room. The gym is solid and there are some nice options for dining on-site. The fries at Tanq are u... Read more

I was here for 4 nights on a business trip. The hotel seems new and fresh, beds great, rooms well insulated against sound. I had a room on the 19th floor and the views were great. Also it's convenient to a lot of things, next to the convention center but also easy to get to from the San Jose Caltrain station (Diridon) with the free downtown bus or light rail. So also easy to get to from SJC airport. The blackout was just on one night and likely due to the enormous rain storm, but surprising for ... Read more

Because I was on East Coast time zone, 3 hours ahead, I woke up at 7am EST, which is 4am and had NO ELECTRICITY. This was really scary and happened twice during my short 4-day stay. I asked the hotel to help me by allowing me to extend my stay on checkout until 5pm, and they said they would need to charge me 1/2 day rate.... honestly the thought that after inconveniencing me with no lights (no generator either with even dimmers for bathroom) in 2 out of 4 nights that they could waive the charg... We stayed here on a Friday night, in January, in the middle of one of the biggest rainstorms in the past 10 years! The staff were fantastic- very welcoming and made our stay wonderful! They welcomed us warmly, upgraded our room and sent up extra pillows, water and towels before we even went up to our room. The room temperature was great and the heater/air was NOT noisy!! That is such a plus in a hotel! The linens were luxurious and the bed very comfortable. . The view was stunning of the San Jos... Read more

I don't often complain but I was about to when this employee came over to me and solved my grievance. It was a small one but why charge $9.00 for a Copper Ridge glass of wine when you know they only pay about $3.00 for the bottle. Robbery, right? Well I mentioned this to one of the very attentive hostess and she brought me a proper glass of wine and picked up the other. Now that deserves attention and keeps me at this hotel.

It felt like all the major hotel chains are right in the same area of San Jose. Went with the Marriott on a friend's preference. Everything was nice in it, nothing made this one stand out. Walkable to the San Pedro Square market, which was pretty nice. Very nice gym, actually a bit spacious for a hotel. Had a pool and hot tub, outdoors, but it was chilly so no one was using them. Looked like they are heated though. Not much right around the hotel and San Jose seems to be a pretty sleepy... Read more

There's really nothing fancy or outstanding about the building or the lobby area. As a matter of fact, the lobby entrance isn't that convenient and does not command much ooohs and ahhhhs. What I was amazed with was the outstanding team and manager in this location. Special shoutout to Spencer Shadeed - the front office supervisor who went above and beyond his role to accommodate my family. I have travelled over 15 times this year to Asia, Latin America, and the US and I must say, this was the b... Read more
