Great place for the night before Bay to Breakers! The front desk was awesome service! We got the room free from my wyndham rewards card and the best perk was we didnt get hassled to see a time share presentation! The only thing that was a con was the room was slightly muggy but its also San Fran so what are you gonna do? Maybe they can get dehumidifyers when people arent in the rooms?

This is a hotel with all basic amenities. The great location is it's USP. More like a motel. Rooms are good. Breakfast is also basic, but fine otherwise. Free Wifi is great. It's a bit on the costlier side, but that's mainly due to it's great location, which is 15 mins walk to Fisherman's Warf.

The hotel is within walking distance of the crooked Lombard Street, but it is a steep walk uphill. Pier 39 can also be reached walking as well as the cable car turning point. The hotel is OK, the room was spacious, but the walls are very thin.

The Travelodge name has always been a reliable brand and this one is no exception! The room was generally spacious and clean with good amenities - only comment about the room would be that the toilet area was quite small. Location wise, the hotel is located a short walk from bus stops that can take you directly to the attractions around SF or a BART station if you need to get across the bay or to SFO. It is also a short walk away from the tourist part of Lombard Street but it is a steep walk uph... Read more

We had six rooms reserved and all were suppose to be on the ground floor. Only 2 were. When we checked in, they made the person who made the reservations put all the rooms on his credit card and would not allow each person to use their card. However the day after we checked in, the day manager took great care of us and was very friendly. We were told the night clerk was new.

Second visit to this motel. A few improvements have been made since but our room looked still old . They have now a nice breakfast room with a nice choice of food. The hotel was moderately priced, convenient and clean which was what we wanted. It also included a continental breakfast in the breakfast room, nothing too fancy but enough to get you started for your day. It is a little older hotel and has two levels with small old elevator to the second floor. (at least you don't have to carry your bags up) The hotel is reasonably close to local landmarks so you can walk or take buses down to the pier or other attractions. Tours can also be arranged with the... Read more

We stayed here 2 nights on our recent trip to San Francisco. We had a third floor room with two queen beds that was surprisingly large. The location worked well for us - short walk to Fisherman's wharf and easy to find while driving as its right on the 101. We got into town early the day of check in and while we couldn't check into our room the hotel was very accommodating in letting us park our car there early. Our only complaint was the paper thin walls or doors. The guests in the adjoini... Read more

(Kind of scary walk through at night.) Elevator equally in that scary spot, or two interior staircases take you upstairs. Continental Buffet Breakfast in so tight a room for so-many-people-messy. We weren't looking for anything fancy, and we got it. We basically wanted a place to sleep while we showed our children the city. It was a basic room in a good location, and was a lot quieter than we expected, so we were happy with the overall situation. A few more gluten-free options at breakfast would have been nice though.

The staff is the worst you can imagine. At checkout the atendant called me idiot because I asked her about a credit card refund! The hotel is well located, really close to the bay, to the Golden Gate bridge or other touristic spots. Easy to find, with lots of things around like pubs, restaurants, gym, markets, etc. The room is huge, and has a nice table, refrigerator, microwave and a decent safe.

The location is the best feature - just a 10 minute stroll from Fisherman's Wharf etc. Parking availability is good - pity they charge extra for it. We had 2 rooms - one on the ground floor and one on the floor above. The upper level is better for sleep quality - on the ground floor you hear every step that is made in the room above. The room was sufficiently spacious for us and was clean.

Room was clean, and was a good size, with 2 queen beds. The location was a plus, centrally located, where you could step outside the hotel and walk to various shops, restaurants, and within a few minutes to Fisherman's Wharf. The room was great and we had absolutely no problem about the room. How ever, the breakfast only has toast bread, white and wheat, two kind of cerials, coffee and three flavours of juice, some yoghurt, coffee and tea. But only one flavour of tea. The biggest problem for the hotel was the little room, where the breakfast is served. This has to be bigger in High seasons. Otherwise a fair hotel though prices in San Fransisco is high.

Our recent stay at the Travelodge by the Bay was just okay. The rooms were clean and comfortable, however the layout of the hotel was not convenient. Apparently they acquired the building adjacent and did not connect it internally with the original. In order to go to the front office or to the breakfast buffet, one has go through an adjoining garage and go outside and around the front of the building. Not terrible if the weather is good but rather chilly in the mornings. Some of the bathroo... Read more

The only reason I am giving this a two and not a one is because of the staff - they were mostly exceptionally helpful, polite and friendly. I don't like to give bad reviews, but I really don't think this building is fit to be a hotel in its current state We had a room on the ground floor, near the front of the hotel. Being right on the 101 we were expecting to hear some car noise, but there were cars constantly coming and going into the car park, and at one point it seemed like a group of men... Read more

I made this reservation through Booking.com, and it seemed like a good deal for six nights. It was...but it also wasn't. It is located in a convenient area, with parking available (which they charge for). The hotel staff was great and they offer a nice free breakfast. My pet rabbit "Narvik" was also welcome. Laundry facilities are also available, which was really cool. The few things that I didn't like was that the TV was not properly connected by the maintenance guy, and I had to tip one ... Read more

This was a great base to explore the city but the central venue was reflected in the price - not cheap. The room with 2 comfortable queen beds was spacious and kept very clean every day and being away from the street was quiet. Breakfast was basic but fine and the staff were at all times particularly helpful. We would stay here again.

Nice and clean rooms with comfy beds. Great location. Friendly staff. I did not like having to pay over $17 extra to park my car on top of the high price to stay. The motel should have covered that.

I booked 2 rooms for my family during we stayed there on September 29-oct 2,2016. We booked this hotel because the parking fee is lower than other. We have room 318,319. Our grand niece who was 10 months old was crawling in the carpet floor for short period of time. When her father notice that his daughter legs were black and blue. It turned out that it was dirt and dust from the carpet. My sister in law (visitor from other country ) saw a cockroach ran near the sink next to the bathroom. She... Read more

I stayed for 4 nights with my partner and 3 year old daughter. Good points - reasonable price, large rooms, 2 comfortable beds, free breakfast, very well located near to main sites, plenty of parking, friendly staff, good free WiFi. Bad points - rooms are dated, bathroom is very small, TV reception is poor, safe didn't work properly, entrance to the building is via an underground car park - no direct entrance from reception, car parking is $17 per day, room was next to a noisy road. This is a very noisy location. Could hear poeple talking next door all night.Very hard to sleep. The air/heat was difficult to operate. We were very cold every night. No designated smoking area , had to keep a towel up to the door to keep the smoke out. Best part was the location, very close to area attractions.

We were in San Fran during Fleet Week. What a treat!!! And to be so close to all the main tourist attractions!!! We were very happy with the location, the size of the room and the staff. The breakfast didn't have many options, but it was adequate and a nice benefit. We would stay here again.

This hotel is very clean. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is not much. Walls are thin and can get noisy. A 6 block walk gets you to fishermans warf. All in all it's a not bad place to stay.

Very comfortable. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Didn't have much of a variety other than toast and cereal. Parked car and Lyfted around town. Wish parking was free for people who stayed at hotel though. Bathroom was a bit small with no bath tub. Would stay here again.

The staff was very friendly, the location is great. Two small items, front desk personnel were to slow at check in, it seemed like they were not sure of what they were doing and the second issue was with the maid service, they forgot to take the trash out and did not replenish the coffee and shampoo/conditioner, we had to call the front desk for that. Otherwise, the rooms were clean and comfortable.

I'd give 3.5 really but adding .5 because of the front desk. I have no complaints with the hotel, everything was fine, the room was clean, plenty large and bathroom was fine. It's not the ritz but you sorta know that beforehand. It breaks my heart that the hotels are so expensive because for the room and cost they just don't jive but that's just the way san fran is, I guess. Anyway, I arrived feeling harsh and was eager to hit the bed for a nap before going out later. There are nearby resta... Read more

My last night (of 3 nights) I could not sleep a w ink because people in room above were running water every few minutes , for minutes at a time. It sounded like a large number of people were taking turns bathing in the room above. The number of people must surely have exceeded the occupancy limit, a suspicion confirmed by one of the staff next morning. As soon as i checked in I checked into change my room because the parking was just outside my door. This request was was denied because (the mana... Read more

This hotel is in a a great location! Walking distance to many restaurants and travel sites. This is not luxury by any means, but who comes 2500 miles to stay around a hotel? The room was spotless and the bed was more comfortable than any Marriott I've ever stayed in. The best part? The great staff! Terry and Sal were both great...actually, everyone there was great, just can't remember everyone's name. Fernando serves breakfast every morning from 6:30 to 9:30. They offer a couple types of dry cer... Read more

My son and I stayed at the travel lodge on a whim. The school trip to the exploratorium near by made this a good choice. The motel is close to the embarcadero which made sight seeing easy as it is within walking distance to the piers, fort mason, trolley, fishermans wharf, the sea pipes and too many I can't name them all. The staff was helpful and pleasant. Our room was basic, no frills, but this wasn't the reason we stayed. If you wanted just a place to sleep and keep your stuff while you ... Read more

The location was great- within walking distance to many restaurants, attractions. It's about 20 minutes to walk down to the pier and Fisherman's Warf. The location being close to a popular intersection (Van Ness and Lombard) made it easy to take public transit! The hotel was clean. Breakfast could be better- small room. Parking is ok for small vehicles, not so much or big trucks. Staff was super friendly and helpful as well! Definitely would stay here again.

We had the queen "suite" with a kitchen. It was very clean and roomy and the lobby staff was very friendly. Not too long of a walk to see the bay. The only complaint - we could hear every movement in the room above us, including one creaky floorboard. (If only those folks hadn't been early risers!)

Front desk staff really friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean a roomy. Priced according to the San Fran area. Little high for a Travel Lodge in other cities. As a guest, the parking should be free($17 or so) but it saved on parking down by the wharf with us in walking distance. Nice few block walk down Lombard Street to go down the curvy road. Very nice to see. Breakfast is good. Muffins, toast etc typical continental breakfast. Nice to sit outside on balcony and eat.

I was surprised to discover this is not a motel, but a hotel. The rooms were very big, spacious, clean, good bathroom products. Enough storage space in the room, super confortable king size bed, fast wi-fi internet, free parking space. 20min walk from Fisherman Warf or even Union Square. Absolutely adorable and romantic town. The only , let's say less positive thing, was the breakfast, few American options.
