Great place to stay very near Union Square and walk to Chinatown, North Beach, even Fisherman's Wharf. Almost kitchen with everything but a cooktop. Hard to get into, so book early. Lots of space to spread out and no worry about when the housekeeping will show up. You do your own.

It's a lovely little hotel within walking distance of main attractions, but concierge absolutely ruined the experience. Concierge was trying to push this 2hour seminar(for buying timeshares). We told her (Julia) that we are not interested, we wanted to get some rest and then spend our time exploring the city. She would not take no for an answer. She called our room twice more that night even though we told het we were not interested. Next morning, we didn't get the friendly greeting, in fact, sh... Read more

Great location, fantastic presidential suite for a family of 6 adults and 2 small children. Full kitchen, very spacious and well decorated with thoughtful extras! Even lent us 2 car seats for the children! Good choice for family vacation! No pushiness for timeshare seminar at all. Nice to be with the family but each with a bit of privacy. Will repeat !!!

What a gracious, elegant, expansive interior so light & airy. Reception staff were very friendly & helpful especially Sean H. I was advised the building was formerly apartments hence the large suites. My one bedroom deluxe was so comfortable, practical in design & very solid- no noise heard during my stay. A spacious kitchen-lounge, bedroom with plenty of natural light, bathroom with just a shower thank goodness. Lifts service the floors well with very little wait time. I'm already booked i... We had 6 nights at the Wyndham Canterbury and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We booked via the guys at WOW Condo rentals - found on and paid through them directly (all smoothly). We were given a king presidential suite which was a great space (and a lovely surprise)! We had our own washing machine and dryer, plus a full kitchen (large fridge, oven and stove top, dishwasher). The lounge had a large fold out sofa bed which comfortably fitted our two little boys. The bedroom had a king si... Read more

We stayed in a 3 bedroom unit. We have stayed at several Wyndham Resorts, this resort was one of most enjoyable, if not the best. Room 215 was quiet, no street noise could be heard in the room. The staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy their job. The location is good as it is close to dinning and public transportation. The only thing I wished they was a hot tub to relax in after a day of walking. We enjoyed our stay and are already planning another trip.

This was our second time staying at the Wyndham Canterbury. We really enjoyed the room. We had a nice one bedroom which had a little kitchenette. It was very easy to get around. And all the staff were very nice and helpful. Regrettably we went for the timeshare presentation which wasted almost three hours of our time. Hardly worth the free breakfast. I would stay here again but would skip the presentation.

After a long, delayed drive to the hotel, we were all so exhausted and arrived late (I had contacted them to let them know we would be arriving very late). We checked in which was fine but as we arrived so late we could not go and park our car so agreed to park it at the hotel. They still charged us the whole day and night rate for the day we arrived even though it was extremely late! They then sent us to the concierge for our 'welcome pack' but instead we got quite a hard sell about a timesha... Read more

great location, near many shops and restuarants but don't go alone at night. there are a lot of homeless and mentally ill people on the streets of san Francisco and our uber driver stressed to us not to walk the streets out late at night it would be safer for us to take uber, lyft, or taxi. she told us we should be fine during the day. there is a pub (Sutter Street Pub) on the corner a short walk, like a half a city block walk with great food. the only thing that was disappointing about that pla... Centrally located, very clean and quiet. Spacious , good air conditioning, good kitchen. Reception was a breeze, quick check in, quick checkout. Free laundry including detergent, all I needed could be found in the room, and the location allows for easy shopping, quick access to transport and to Chinatown and union square

Room was spacious, as it was an apartment Staff were all super friendly and helpful, with a good seating area, well equipped kitchen area and good bathroom. The aparthotel has no restaurant facilities. The laundry room facilities on our floor were faulty, although they did send someone to fix stuff, we had to use the laundry facilities 2 floors up. We didn't find the location was great - whilst all the guides say there are numerous restaurants in the Union Square area, we struggled to find ... Read more

Having read previous reviews I was a little apprehensive about this apartment hotel. I need not have been. The hotel is well placed for most of the sites of San Francisco or a short and cheap bus or trolley ride from them. It is walking distance to Union Square and its shops, to the ferry terminal and the Embarcadero centre. The hotel itself was well appointed and the bed comfortable. There are a few small markets a block or so away (admittedly uphill) for provisions and Trader Joe's is only a... Read more

Stayed here for 4 nights in a 1 bedroom suite with my husband and here's why we'll choose to stay here again: 1) location- 5 min walk to Union Square and the cable car station is just 3 blocks away. There's plenty of dining options near the hotel 2) the suite room - it's huge, clean, the kitchen is well equipped with microwave (and popcorn), ref, utensils and even a dishwashing soap 3) reasonable price - I checked the rates and reviews of other 3-4 star hotels within the area and Wyndham takes ... The stay I had for 3 nights was great, this place probably has some of the biggest rooms in downtown. San Francisco is a huge city with big historic hotels, that have small rooms. The room size was a plus, although the historic value of the place was destroyed. The modern interior and rooms really clash with the original exterior shell of the 1920's apartment building. This didn't affect the stay, but something to keep in mind if your expecting historic classic rooms in this place, i am an archi... Read more

We booked this location on before we realised it was a resort hotel. We thought if we made it Lear it was our mini-honeymoon they'd leave us alone. It was only for 3 days straight after our wedding. It wasn't really romantic to have to say no about 5 times to a sales pitch. Also since it was a very mini honeymoon we only had a few days to enjoy San Francisco and they wanted us to have the breakfast pitch during one of our very few days. Needless to say we said NO. additionally the ... Read more

This is a lovely property, centrally located; about 4 blocks from Union Square. Rooms were spacious and comfortable. We had a 1 bedroom suite complete with kitchenette. Toaster, coffee maker, microwave, dishwasher, plenty of dishes, utensils, etc. for a short stay. We used ours primarily for reheating restaurant leftovers and making morning coffee. The hotel supplies 2 complimentary coffee packs, then you're on your own though there was always fresh coffee in the lobby. As this is a timeshare/ ... Read more

We had a one bed apartment which had a sitting room area with sofa bed, kitchen area with coffee machine, microwave, fridge etc, dining table and chairs, one bedroom and one enormous bathroom with huge shower. As usual the Wyndham family hotel are very lovely. However the check-in staff needs some re-training. First thing that should come out of the mouth of a worker at the check-in desk...especially for a VIP customer...should NOT be "credit card"...what about trying "Hello, so good to have you Mr. & Mrs..." or maybe "glad you're here did you have a nice trip?"...the list of possibilities is long!!

Returned after 11 years - to find it totally refurbished from our last stay. Every single member of staff was so welcoming every day - in and out 24/7. Service was absolutely faultless. Gracefully declined 'info' catch-up when checked in and was really impressed that no-one did a hard sell job on us for the remainder of our stay. Room/s were impeccable. Very impressive kitchenette came as a very welcome surprise for us to be able to cook and prepare own breakfasts daily before heading out. Bed ... Read more

Our 1 bedroom suite was nicely decorated and comfortable. All of the staff, except for a few of the desk and check in staff, were very friendly and actively initiated conversations. Nice, clean apartment with comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms. Good location close to Union Sq. Nice staff, except for the last day when the receptionist was rude and they managed to forget one of our suitcases while they were loading the taxi to the airport. Thankfully we got it back before we checked in on the plane.

After some great reviews, we decided to book a room at the Wyndham through trip advisor, advertised as a timeshare property we didn't know 100% what to expect but liked the flexibility of a small kitchen area and something generally larger than a hotel room for the week. On your way to the Wyndham if making your way by public transport take the Dart to Powell Street, walk up Powell to Sutter and its then only a few blocks. We ended up going a slightly different way which I wouldn't recommend. P... Read more

This hotel was impressive. The decor is beautiful, timeless and elegant. Our room was a one bedroom with a pull-out queen sofa bed (which our children slept on), a small kitchenette and dining room, and a gorgeous bathroom. There isn't much of a view to anything, but it is located within an easy walk to Union Square where all the action is. Every morning we walked there to catch a tram, a bus or simply shop and grab food. Just be aware though that this is a timeshare and if you get roped into ... Read more

I've stayed in this hotel while visiting family twice. It's a great and reasonably priced hotel with easy access to tons! Within walking distance of great shopping, major subway station and a great downhill view towards the bay just one block over. Homelike amenities and great staff! Comfortable beds. Modern shower. Fitness center. Catered breakfast offered. Concierge service. Love it! I booked too late once and had to stay at a nearby hotel and was super disappointed.
