Before our recent visit I read a number of reviews on this hotel and found them to vary quite considerably on arrival I had no high expectation. In all honesty for the amount we paid I feel totally satisfied with our experience of the hotel. True the staff weren't bend over backwards helpful or friendly but they did their job gave hotel information on arrival checked us in and out swiftly and arranged airport transport on departure as requested. The breakfast was basic cereal toast fruit juice c... Read more

The room was very small. I booked this hotel via hotels.com cause I liked their pictures online. I wanted to shoot there but when I got there in person figured that it isn't a good idea. It's an old building with old style elevator where you need to manually close the metal grid door. Receptionist closed it for me when I was going up, on the way back I had trouble & elevator was stuck for several hours. There is a staircase (old style - very narrow stairs). The air in the room was stuffed cause ... Read more

Good location. Very helpful staff, tasty continental breakfast, very small room for 2 people with two big luggage and two hand baggage. Pick up from airport. Problem with elevator, some problems with inside steel gate

The photos of the hotel and the actual property, as experienced by us 2 weeks ago, were completely different. The hotel is in crying need of attention but the worst bit was the lack of heating. Our room, of course I do not know about any of the other rooms, did not have any heating whatsoever. When we arrived and we said that the room was very cold, we were told that the heating goes on at 6:00pm. Maybe it did but there were no heating pipes or radiators in our room. They brought us an ineffect... Read more

Friendly reception staff and a decent continental breakfast. The bed is also quite comfy. However the rooms are tiny and therefore feel claustrophobic. The shower is great though. I personally liked the lift with the wire mesh. Quirky.

So poor. Only staff were surly receptionists. Rooms were unclean - colleague found dirty handkerchiefs and I was not at all sure my bed linen had been changed since previous occupant. Asked to be moved from room 202 - so unspeakably noisy as next to laundry (I thought I was IN the washing machine) and waste piles from entire hotel came through my room. Breakfast included but unimpressive. V close to Tendeloin district. Take care!

I did not enjoy staying at this hotel. First of all, it is located just 3 blocks far from the SFO most dangerous city quarter with streets full of drunk homeless people who seemed to be on drugs. We tried to walk to the hotel from Market street but there were so many dangerous looking guys that we got scared, turned back and better took a taxi. The hotel itself was old styled which could be nice and stylish if it was not so dirty. The space under the beds seems to be cleaned once a year as there... Read more

It is a old hotel. Good for one night staying. Old elevator looks not safe and it smells moldy. The room was without decoration, but the bathroom after renovation. Friendly staff. Don't go to the south of this hotel, the local said it is not safe.

I wish the rating was not average or very good. Its a solid good , but not average or very good. Lovely old building , not shabby at all. Room at front was small but good. More hanging space would be good. Very comfy bed. Nice little breakfast room. Wifi was ok , but not great. Just the noise from the street was so loud and so much of it ... Shutters or double glazing needed. Did not sleep at all well. I know its a big bust city but then the hotel could take steps to cut the noise down. Did not ... Read more

We booked the "penthouse suite" for one night just for an overnight "getaway" in a room with a Jacuzzi tub. It was exactly what we needed and reasonably priced at less than $200 for the night on a Sunday night. The Jacuzzi tub was great. The room was clean. The room could use some paint and the outdoor area was not actually private, but otherwise no complaints. We ate in the restaurant and that was great as well. We would definitely stay here again.
