"Yes, the rooms are on the smaller side, but are nicely decorated in a modern contemprary style. Plus who stays in their hotel room when in the City. Included was a nice continential breakfast which is always a nice perk considering the cost of dining out in San Francisco. The location was great as my conference was at one of the bigger hotels in the Union Square area just a couple blocks away. Only negative was early morning noise from the alley where a garbage dumpster was emptied daily, by otherwise street noise was minimal in my room. Was only able to stay here for part of my trip but would have like to have stayed longer and would certainly go back given the rate I got."

"The room was definitely smaller than we'd anticipated. But the decor was nice, the staff was friendly, and the bar was a great end to our only night there. The bartenders were friendly and fun to watch, and the drinks exceeded our expectations. We did have to pay for parking which we weren't expecting. But overall it was a good stay. Only reason we wouldn't stay again is due to us not enjoying being in the city with the traffic and chaos."

"I stayed with my husband there in the Christmas time, and we loved it. My parents (they are older than 65) they also liked it. STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL. They let us early check-in. Plus, since our junior room was not ready, they upgraded our room to king room without any additional charge order to solve the inconvenience. The king room (city view) was so good. Location is great. BREAKFAST WAS PERFECT! Computer and printer were free. The escalator reminds the Alcatraz :) but %u0131 need to tell that the TOWELS AND PILLOWS WERE SO OLD. although they were clean."

"Location was great, room was lovely. The only complaint I would have is that the noise from the street was quite bad. We had a room where the windows faced an alley way, and the garbage trucks each morning were incredibly loud, we never really got a good nights sleep. But location was fantastic, so central. Would stay again if they looked into double glazing their windows!"

"The photos are deceiving. Not all the rooms appear to be renovated. The room was small, but bright, plenty of room for my husband and I. However, the bathroom was dirty and the towels were scratchy. I felt like it was pretty expensive for what we got. The location was good, but there is plenty of construction so getting there was a nightmare. The parking structure is around the corner, you can't just drive up to the door and drop off your keys. The garage for the hotel is pretty expensive but the parking structure right across the street is closer and cheaper. I don't think that we'll be back to stay at this one."

"This hotel is close to Market street shopping and relatively close to the Bart, but it sits right in front of the entrance to a highway tunnel in a dead end of the street. The bar is not a lively place and overall, beside the white lobby, the hotel feels dirty and dated. Old carpeting, and the bathrooms smelled not too fresh. The elevator is crappy and almost non-functional. The worst however is that the maids did not change the sheets fully but simply turned them inside out. Yuck. This was appalling. They also never replaced any of the dirty glasses we used in the room. There was no AC so we were recommended to open the windows and turn on the fan. While SF doesn't really get that hot, the rooms can get quite stuffy and the streets are noisy so this is not ideal if you expect a tranquil and restful sleep. The staff were friendly enough but does not make up for the condition of the rooms and hotel. Would never pay over $200 for this room and even at a discounted rate thought it overpriced for the size and cleanliness. The beds are tiny."

"Great value hotel in a very good location in downtown SF: 5 min walk from BART, 10 feet from MUNI stop, one block from Union Square, several blocks from Chinatown, etc. Don't expect a 'typical' american breakfast (fried eggs, bacon, grease, etc), however it is still very satisfying by all other standards: good coffee, juice, bagels, danishes, granola, yogurt, boiled eggs. The hotel bar is upscale and serves good cocktails. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The hotel is old and has a lot of character. The room was very clean. The only downside is surprisingly loud dumpster noise from the alley in the early mornings, though you may avoid this by staying on the south side of the building (I will try it next time). The hotel is great value for international and younger tourists, but would not recommend for families or those primarily looking to relax."

When we needed a taxi one of the employees stayed outside with us until we were safely in the cab. "Great location, easy to get to all attractions. Close to BART and city bus picks up right outside the hotel. Car rental was also close. Breakfast was a great way to start the day. "Excellent top notch location/service/breakfast without the top notch price! The rooms were very clean , Euro style and modern decor. I stayed a junior small room and it was spacious. it has a modern leather like lounge seat with a red ceiling lamp- great vibe. for all the other people who complained about the elevator- it is a typical elevator you find all over Europe. Awesome breakfast- the breakfast is a deluxe continental -high quality danishes/muffins, hard boiled eggs, bagels, yogurts, fruit, granola , orange juice and starbucks coffee. the front desk was very attentive and super polite"

Only one washcloth for two people; was reported and was brought a very used hand towel.nnLighting on second floor where bar/continental breakfast was unsafely dark. Continental breakfast was more than adequate. One morning the 'manager' sent the sui (not sure of spelling but probably not sue) chef for soy milk. Very impressed.nnFront desk staff very friendly. "Upon check in, I was given room #501. When I entered the room, it had a bathroom in front of the main door, a full size bed in the room on the right and a queen size bed in the room on the left. Both rooms had sinks in them. One room had no door on the closet, just hooks. No airconditioning. I went down and insisted that I did not want to share a bathroom with another room and was advised that both rooms were mine. So I had to sleep with a chair in front of the door of room so no one would walk in. The wireless internet did not work in the room and there was no place to sit, other than a chair. The place looked like a flop house hotel in transition. The next night, I was given a much better room, but still no airconditioning. However, it was a civil room. Would not stay here for a free night! "

"I would indeed recommend this hotel in San Francisco. My Jr Suite room was very small, however it was clean and well laid out, and it also featured a really nice bathroom (which ironically was also as large as the actual hotel room its self!) The internet was patchy and the breakfast selection wasn't great, however the hotel on the whole was great. One particular (large) credit was the front desk staff who, day after day, we always fantastic with advice/help."

When we got out of the elevator you had the feel of an old victorian home but with all the updated amenities. We walked into our room and it was bresth taking. "We celebrated our 22nd anniversary on July 14th. When we entered the hotel, the hotel attendant was very pleasant. He upgraded us to a queen size bed, which was very nice. All the staff were great. We went to the lounge to enjoy some jazz music and drinks which were also fantastic. We asked the hostess for a good place for dancing, and she came back with a variety of places close by. Our over all experience was something to remember, and would return their in a heartbeat!"

"It's a great boutique hotel. Very central to everything....Union Square, Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, Market Street. Very clean and friendly place. Our King Size bed was so comfortable. The rooms are not huge, but big enough. The Junior room which we booked in the first place by mistake, would be only good for one or two nights. Too small for longer stay. For an extra fee we upgraded and was worth it."

"This hotel was in a great location, very close to union square ( shopping and restaurants) and to China Town ( walking distance). We easily accessed public transportation from this location in order to go to Fisherman's Wharf. The hotel was clean, our room was cleaned daily. The beds were great, very comfortable and nice sheets/ bedspreads. Rooms were small but provided necessities and you aren't in the room very often. The hotel had limited amenities but the cost was very low- and that was fine with us. They had a complimentary breakfast which included bagels, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, croissants and muffins. They had a cool bar/lounge with jazz and blues music almost nightly. That was the extent of the amenities in the hotel. The pitfalls included an elevator that didn't work consistently- the doors didn't open sometimes, but at least it moved and opened after no more than 3-4 minutes. The hotel staff are in the lobby, close by and were helpful- but also somewhat nervous about people being stuck. They should get this fixed though- as many people get claustrophobic in these situations. The other problem was noise from garbage trucks and delivery trucks- usually between 4;30 am and 6;30 am. We were on the 7th floor and didn't hear street noises in generaly, but our room faced the alley which is probably why we had early morning noises. Overall, I would stay here again because the price was right and the location was great."

"Stayed for 1 week and enjoyed every minute. Very convenient location. 2 blocks to Union Square in one direction, and 2 blocks to the Chinatown District in the other direction. Located on Stockton street, which is a main thoroughfare for the Muni buses that take you all the way to Fishermans Wharf, and all the way to Market street going the other way. Very safe area too. It's true when they say 'Location, location, location.' Made reservations and got a great deal (found out the regular price is double what I paid). Felt like I was staying in a quaint version of a 4 star hotel. Staff very friendly. Only problem was I didn't get my wake-up call on the day of my departure (good thing for my cell phone alarm). Other than that, a very clean and well maintained hotel, with an extremely helpful staff. The Jr Suite was perfect for 1 adult (would have been tight for 2). Will definately stay there again and again."

"We stayed for 4 nights. The hotel is located in Union Square, very close to Market St. The room was true to its name- Crescent Junior room. Its a very small room. In my next visit I will probably go for a Crescent room as Junior room is too small even for two adults. I didnt like the fact that the sink was located in the bedroom itself instead of the bathroom. Also the room had no air conditioning, only a fan, I dont know if it was our room or the entire hotel was like that. Free breakfast between 7a.m. to 10 a.m. is also a plus point. I also liked the vintage elevator. Overall, its a contemporary,clean hotel with efficient and friendly staff. I will definitely stay here again and will recommend to everyone."

"Stayed 5 nights in the Junior Room. Everything went smooth, our room was ready when we arrived early at 12pm (we were going to check our bags at the front desk if it wasn't ready). The Burritt Room lounge on the 2nd floor was really cool. Awesome list of craft cocktails.
The only thing that was weird was some of the amenities that I assumed we would have were not there, like kleenex in the room, a pen and an ice machine somewhere in the hotel. I know they are small but it was just something I was assuming we would have. There was a mini fridge in the room so that helped out.
Great location, just a mile walk to Fisherman's Wharf, a few blocks from Chinatown, and the 30 bus stopped right in front of the hotel, as well as the BART station just being a few blocks away."
