Huge bustling conference hotel that still manages to deliver warm personal service from the drive-in "hostess" to the bellmen to the Elite desk clerk to the "M Lounge" staff. Check in was seamless, everybody seemed eager that you have a good experience, and appeared genuinely welcoming. Vastly superior experience to other Marriott properties such as Times Square Marquis or NO Canal Street. From the time we walked in until we left the staff was so helpful. The view from our room was spectacular. We opted out of having our room cleaned every day but housekeeping were very kind in giving us clean towels. The only problem I had was the bed was too soft and the bottom sheet and liner would not stay on. I would highly recommend this to to other travelers.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 days. Amazing customer service throughout the hotel - from the front desk, to the luggage attendants to the concierge. I chose this hotel because of the reviews regarding its location. It's no doubt a perfect location - it's near all transportation, union square, shopping centre, restaurants, etc. However, it wasn't a perfect location for US due to the fact that we spent our majority time in Fisherman's Wharf which wasn't near nor far from the hotel. The Marriot Marquis is in a very good location in SOMA. San Francisco. The hotel is nice and the staff will do all they can to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel is extremely clean which for me is a must. We had a great view of some high rise buildings, the water and Bay Bridge. The food I ate at the hotel was good but 29$ buffet breakfast is expensive and there is no place to just buy a simple breakfast. There is Bin 55 market type place but it is all Pre-made food that are cold sandwiches or... Read more

This hotel is VERY crowded...the lobby itself has constant people in/out and backed up at the front desk. The hotel's only restaurant is right in the middle of the lobby and is noisy, crowded and extremely small. The service however was good and the breakfast buffet, while expensive, was good. My husband and I were given a room with 2 double beds and separate checks (unbeknownst to us) without being asked which was inconvenient and strange. Housekeeping is the best thing about this hotel. I really have nothing bad to say about this hotel. Great location, great rooms, awesome staff and allowed for a very early check in For me and my tired family. Great views from the top floor hotel and great food options inside and outside of the hotel. Conference rooms were a little cold but I normally expect that. Hotel fitness center was comparable to a gym facility with a cardio and weight floor and all you need for a quality workout away from home.

There were four of us in our room and we had plenty of space. Our room was clean. The only complaint I have is that we arrived after 1am and this hotel does not offer room service, an area to purchase a snack or drink nor does it have vending machines. My child needed a snack and I certainly didn't feel like going out after traveling all day.

From the quick & attentive check in, the amazing view from our room, great central location & the awesome gym I can't fault the hotel in any way. They even let us borrow a charger for free when we mentioned we had forgotten ours. If we came back to San Francisco I'd stay here again in a heart beat!

I stayed @ the Marriott Marquis for several nights in June for a conference. I arrived quite late on check in day and was very tired. The check in staff noticed I was tired and handed me a bottle of water immediately (nice touch) and upgraded me to a room on the 30th floor. I was actually concerned it would take forever to get up and down the elevators but it was never a problem. The only (minor) things to point out were the less-than plush towels/sheets ... way better at a Sheraton/Westin. ... Read more

Marriott staff and service are always the best and this hotel is another great example. Wifi was free for Marriott members. There was no self service laundromat or swimming pool for the kids. I travel to SF a lot for business, and the Marriott Marquis is my "Go To" hotel (whenever the rates are not completely ludicrous). While it's sometimes a bit too busy, the staff is always nice, and as gold member of Marriott I always get good upgrades here, and the lounge is well equipped and convenient. The location of the Marriott Marquis is my favorite in the city - close to everywhere I need, and the WiFi is strong and fast.

Great location. We avoided hotels in Union Square because of the major construction going on. But it was only a short walk from there - about 5 minutes. Room was clean and comfortable. All staffers were pleasant and efficient. Unfortunately one of the considerations in selecting this hotel was pictures of a beautiful indoor pool. The breakfast was really good, with lots of selection of health and not so health (my favourate) stuff. staff were very helpful and we had a nice 3 days stay.

We stayed twice in a month and had a different room each time. Both were very similar, but one was "handicapped" accessible. Well, maybe. I don't use a wheelchair, but I think one who did would have some problems turning the corner to the bathroom, entering the main door to the room, and using the safe. The bathroom was larger there, though. Typical Marriott - everything exactly as we expected it. The view from the upper floors are fantastic, and if you go to the crowded bar at the top, they are... I booked this hotel using credit card points for a quick weekend trip to sight see in San Francisco. I was originally worried that the great deal I received would result in a sub par room but the room I had was spacious and clean and the hotel itself was great. I arrived early in the morning and they had a very organized bell station to store bags for no charge, you could pre-check in to get a text when your room was ready, and the hotel had a huge lobby area with lots of seating areas to hang o... The room was the best thing about the hotel, it was spacious, comfortable and the bathroom was nice. The location is in Union Square so is quite busy, but close to all the shops, trams and buses. The staff were also friendly and helpful. My issue with the hotel is the lobby was busier and louder than Union Square, which i found very uninviting and impersonal. It was a battle to get to the lift everytime we returned to the hotel and the decor outside the rooms felt dated. I probably would'nt st... Read more

Nice property but the location is certainly very touristy and if you get too many feet from the entrance you are greeted with that certain special smell. I was hoping for a huge rain storm while we stayed there. Didn`t happen. Lobby is very busy and there was a homeless man walking around asking for people to buy him things while I stood in line at the coffee shop. WIll look for somewhere else to stay next time we are in SF..

Bar up top is wonderful for a view and drink. Rooms are on the small side but large for San Francisco. The service and quality you expect from a Marriott with a location that can not be beat. Watch out for expensive parking- return the rental car while you are here, you won't need it to see the city!

A weekend visit to San Francisco was great with this financial district hotel. We able to easily walk to the Ferry Building and the wharf to enjoy the day. Check and check out were easy. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. The lounge on the top floor, The View, offered a great view of the city. On Saturday night it was jammed, but the service was good. The hotel did give me an elite upgrade but I was traveling alone on business and was very surprised that this hotel does not have in-house room service at a Marriott Marquis. I guess they are competing with grub hub and other food delivery but the tablet in my room did not work and the lack of this service was quite an unexpected disappointment. I think the tablet user interface for ordering local food (Pizza, burgers) is not intuitive and clicking on the local takeout was not responsive. I ... Read more

Our stay at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis was exceptional from booking to checkout. The room was amazing and the service from all the staff was first rate. This is a very nice Marriott, centrally located. Very short walk to Union Square, right next door to several museums, and walkable to Embarcadero (but it's kinda far). For a family of 4 with teens the rooms are a bit small (2 double beds) but we didn't spend much time in the room. The M Club level for elite members is really nice. The view from the top floor of the hotel is really cool. Very nice, vibrant lobby area. Staff are A+!!

It's unbelievable. It pushes the nightly rate to well over $400 a night. The hotel is packed, it's incredibly busy. Location is very convenient if you need to go to the Moscone conference or something similar. Very nice view in the bar on the 39th floor but the service is slow and unfriendly. Rooms and restaurants are outdated and some brilliant mind to decided to abandon minibars and room service. Wifi is not free (unless you are a Mariott member) and prices are high. Avoid it if you can unless you have to endure Oracle Open World or Dreamforce.

The hotel is very well situated in the centre of the city. You can easily walk to the Union Square and other attractive places, restaurants and shops. The view from the 39th floor bar is marvellous. The rooms are comfortable, the beds as well. I did not like their cuisine much. I also had negative impressions by their services and approach of the staff. Location, just of Market Street and Union Square is nice. Hotel is quite 80-ies in look and feel. What's good: bed, pillows and shower. What's not so good: room, a bit stuffy and outdated. Noise from neighbors - especially if they drink and shout into the wee hours of the night... Furthermore: no room service, in stead of that very expensive shop downstairs. No minibar. And for those of you that have lounge access: you will have to pay for wine and beer.

I had to fully dress, wash face, put on some makeup, etc. to go downstairs to sort through the deli's meager selection of breakfast offerings. It was almost impossible to get a table at any of the hotel's facilities and the pantry/shop downstairs ran out of many options.
