When we checked in and went to our room we had a knock on the door immediately after, in which a lady came to check the bar and snack area after we had already checked in. She scampered around our small room to see what was drunken or eaten prior to us.... It was so weird and she didn't even check properly. There was also hair in the bathtub that which wasn't ours. Grossed me out a bit. The valet, check in went fine. Friendly staff. The restaurant staff was wonderful. Food and drinks were great!

We stayed in this hotel for two nights on Memorial day weekend. The hotel was very nice for the price. It's right on the edge of the tenderloin, so we did not walk to the left coming out of the hotel after dark, but it was fine during the day. We were super close to Union square which was fantastic. As well, the front staff was very knowledgeable and gave us great advice.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on holiday in San Francisco and chose it mainly for its location. The location was probably the best thing about it, as we were disappointed with the what the rest of the hotel has to offer. I really liked staying at this hotel, and would have rated it 4-5 stars, but when you get your bill there is a $30/day "Amenity Fee" attached. Me: I'm trying to understand how I expense the Amenity Fee. Hotel: It covers all of our amenites. Me: Like? Hotel: Local phone calls. Me: I didn't make any phone calls. Hotel: And coffee. Stayed here for six nights whilst attending the Bio conference in San Francisco. The rooms were tiny! Didn't feel that clean! To make matters worse, they shut the bar for refurbishment. You 'll pay an extra fee of 37 just for what is free in most of hotels, such as wifi and coffee in the morning ( awful by the way) Mattress is compatible with a cheap motel , if you are unlucky you'll see little roaches roaming on your bed. first time in 20 years traveling everywhere : those "guys" cancelled my room without notice. The Markers has some nice design elements for a boutique hotel. But overall I think this hotel is overpriced.. It has the appearance of a boutique hotel. But I do not really get the attentiveness a boutique hotel provide. We asked for a room with high floor during the reservation. Rooms were clean, trendy and well-appointed. Wifi worked well, so I was able to get work done while in the room. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. We arrived during the day at the hotel and we were welcomed and accommodated very well considering I had to drop my car off as soon as I dropped my cases off. The entrance was grand with door men opening for you and a lovely staircase and restaurant on the left with the reception on the right. We arrived on a Saturday night. The night scene was busy and very noisy that night/morning. The rooms were smaller but like any you would find in union square I believe. This is a upscale and colorful hotel. The staff is extremely friendly and wants to help. There was construction outside our window but thankfully did not work on Sat. They had our room ready before check in time and was able to check in on my phone and choose room and level.

The Marker hotel is a great hotel in the city, and is in walking distance of all the tourist must sees , fisherman's wharf, cable cars, shopping and resturants. Loved staying here! All staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations for touring the city. My favorite feature were the house bikes available to guests. I enjoyed the artwork throughout the hotel. My bed was so comfortable and my room gave a nice respite feel at the end of a hard day's work. The wine tasting hour was a delightful treat, especially the delightful, vibrant red wine. All of the staff were professional, friendly and accommodating.

Our room was small but beautiful in its original way. The room has a flat TV, the bed was very comfortable and great pillows. The bathroom was a great size with all necessary beauty products. The hotel has a great location in Union Square. Very close (couple blocks) to tour busses and other attractions. Service was outstanding, always friendly advices when we asked. They took time with explaining every question that we had.

The Marker was a very nice hotel right near Union Square just a couple blocks off Powell street. Close to lots of restaurants and shopping. I was there for business, and appreciated the free wifi. Room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.

We really liked this hotel. The staff were very helpful, giving excellent advice on what to do and see in San Fransisco and the best way to get around. The rooms were well decorated and quite spacious. The beds very comfortable. The free wine in the lobby each evening was a bonus, as was the free coffee in the mornings. The public areas were impressive. The location was excellent just along from Powell St., very convenient for breakfast and dinner locations.

The building is classic, styled in a rich, bold way. Lots of great textures and colors. Most importantly - it's way more spacious than other SF hotels, the beds are high-quality and super comfy, and the rooms get dark and quiet at night, with good temp control. We had a wonderful 8 day stay at The Marker! The location is superb, as we easily walked everywhere and was conveniently located to public transit (BART/MUNI) as well as the classic cable cars. The location of this hotel is good. The bedroom was dirty & dark which was probably because the windows were so filthy you couldn't see out! The staff were not engaging and didn't seem to care. The concierge didn't have a good knowledge of the city.

We thoroughly enjoyed the staff at the Marker. From Spencer, the Doorman to Jackson, the Bellman to Wesley at the Front desk to the sales team and all the staff, we were very impressed with the friendly service we received. Our room was bright and cheerful and housekeeping was very efficient. Only enjoyed breakfast one morning but it was good. Start with a great location! Close to so much that San Francisco has to offer and you can even add a few things because this hotel has a great price for what you get!! Doorman was the first to greet us and he was so friendly and helpful. The front desk was beyond helpful. My only concern was that the reviews or hotel information did not indicate that within a couple of blocks was a really rough neighbour. It caught me off guard and I am glad that I did not have my children with me. I would not feel safe in that neighbourhood (Tenderloin) alone or late at night.

Lovely old-world boutique hotel with a warm greeting by staff, but housekeeping was lacking. They do very basic cleanup (like make the bed). If you need more soaps or clean floors, you're on your own. There's a $22/per night "resort fee" not included in the price. Booked The Marker for a quick trip to San Francisco for a girls weekend. The room was sophisticated and cheery. We requested a high room away from the elevator and upgraded for a bit larger room. We traded a skewed view for the Geary St. elevation - this worked for us. The staff was great (they responded quickly to our requests), the wine was great (can't say anything about appetizers as they ran out of them). Loved that they are pet friendly. This hotel was conveniently located to Union Square. There were homeless in the area but that seemed pretty common all over the city. I was given a room that perfectly met all my requirements. It was extremely quiet considering the hotel was in a active location. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. I felt safe as there is staff right at the entrance. The wine hour was very nice.

This Marker has an excellent staff which is always our first impression of a hotel. I cannot say enough good things about the employees that you see first upon arrival, from the bellman to the guys at check-in. The hotel is very nice and it is very clean. The Marker was a pleasant surprise. The people at reception were friendly and effective. I arrived a bit early and was offered a great place to work and relax while I waited for my room. The Marker Hotel while not in the real centre of the CBD is so close it need not matter. The tram, train and bus routes are probably a good 10 - 15 min walk away but a pleasant enough walk. Stayed there many times before , but this last time the rooms just seemed run down and the bs charges they put on after I left them not happy at all plus they double there normal amount then what I have payed for in the past , not happy at all with this hotel and will stay some where else that aren't sneaky with there price or charges they put on after u leave

Booked 4 nights in the Marker for the start of our honeymoon and it didn't disappoint. We were upgraded to a spa suite which was lovely and the bottle of bubbly on ice waiting for us was a nice surprise. The hotel is very central for union square. The free coffee and tea in the morning and wine in the afternoon was a nice touch. Had a fantastic time in San Francisco can't wait to come back, would definitely use the marker hotel again and will recommend.

We stayed at The Marker for five nights and we were really happy about the location, near Union Square. We had a problem with our room that it was immediately addressed next day by Taylor (very diligent and helpful agent). Staff members are friendly (shout out to Jackson!) and the rooms are average though confortable and with a colorful look.

We have stayed at this hotel for two nights. The hotel sent a message before our stay to ask for special requests and for an upgrade. The upgrade is definitely not worth the amount you have to pay. The special requests were adhered to the first night and the second got 'forgotten'. For the money this is fairly good hotel. I would say 4.5 out of 5 compared to what is out there and where the hotel is located. It's a very clean property, the staff are super friendly and knowledgable and the area is in the centre of it all. That being said, the windows(in the room) are super super old and need replacement. I was surprised on this trip then to see that so many of the gorgeous decorations and furnishings seem to have been stripped, leaving the hotel looking like a dated, boring property. The room was awesome. I stayed on the 7th floor. It was great to recharge after a day full of running around town. The hotel sent me an email with the option of checking in sooner. Lovely place with awesome staff and a great Italian restaurant downstairs. Would've gotten full marks if the room didn't have questionable hot water supply at the start. We were advised to 'tease it' and ridiculously it worked. Maybe that's the price you gotta pay for a certain style an pd quirkiness that comes with the territory. Overall great stay... Clean hotel in a great location and very friendly staff. The hotel recently changed names and is better for it. I would stay there again when I am in San Francisco. I did not try the restaurant, but it looked good.

The hotel has an amazing decor and is located near union square (good location if you don't mind the homeless people roaming the streets there). But, the room we got was very small and we had not power sockets near the bed (no where to charge our phones :( ). We also had to wait few minutes for hot water in the shower. It's a good hotel but I think I will try another hotel for my next visit to SF.

In San Francisco for both business and pleasure and stayed for two nights at the Marker. Very impressed with the helpfulness of the staff and with the comfort of the room. Some reviewers have commented on noise and pillows but we found it quiet and very comfortable indeed and would certainly return. Location is also superb - just a few minutes walk from Union Square and with some great restaurants nearby. Good value for money!

The hotel is spectacular. It has got an amazing location and the hotel generally has an amazing feel to it with its fantastic decor. It has a certain swag to it. The rooms are quite big. Our experience began with Austin Bennett - he was so kind to upgrade our room to one of the beautiful Monte Carlo suites in honor of our anniversary! I just stayed at the Marker Hotel in San Francisco for 2 nights. The staff was Outstanding. The Hotel was within walking distance to some really great restaurants and things to do. The Wine Hour was a very nice touch after a full day of sightseeing. I would highly recommend this hotel!!!

I was underwhelmed. We booked directly thru the hotel and was under the belief we would receive a better room than booking with Hotwire or Priceline. My husband and I stayed at the Marker for 2 nights, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Because we arrived early, we were able to store our bags safely and retrieve them without issue. The hotel is exquisite with a grand staircase. My h has been and I came to San Francisco for the weekend it was the perfect location very close to Union Square very close to car rental garage easy access to Napa easy access to all of the different sites to see you could be super touristy or you could try and stay within the city and wander around this is a great location and a great hotel.

The Marker Hotel is in The Union Square Area in San Francisco. The hotel itself is modern and strives to be different but there's nothing that really sets it apart. The rooms are tiny. I traveled alone so it wasn't a big deal but if you have company, lack of space will be an issue. The rooms are well decorated. I got the standard Queen and the bed was quite comfortable. I love this hotel been a guest for years here on business and pleasure, I have watched it change ownership through the years but always stayed loyal. We spent a week here and really enjoyed it. The place is clean and bright. There's great shopping, live theatre and restaurants all within short walking distance. The staff were terrific - helpful and friendly. There's a wine hour from 5 to 6 pm - which is a great idea. I'd certainly return!

The Marker was the best decision we had during our San Francisco stay. We stayed in three different downtown hotels, some big chain ones, and this was by far the best. Check in was fast, smooth and very courteous. Free drinks (water, coffee, wine) during different times in the day. The lobby is very charming, with gorgeous painted ceilings. This is a very classy hotel. The look is old but everything had been renovated. The lobby was very comfortable and the "happy hour" with free wine and pizza in the evening was a bonus I was not expecting.

We recommand, no doubt, The Marker. The ambiance, the room, the place, in general, was very good and the service was absolutely AMAZING! Benji, the concierge, is exceptionnal and he certainly contributed to our very positive experience. The "happy hour wine" was very nice, every night! Stayed here for 5 nights early November in room 229. Shame about the area as it's located next to the tenderloin . We were accosted on several occasions by beggers and on our 2nd day witnessed a Chinese woman been robbed by a tramp on a bike. I know it's not there fault but it's a shame for the hotel. - Not specifically mentioned that the "amenity fee" will be added to your bill - A towel in the bathroom was dirty - WIFI is not included (it is in the amenity fee - but I am unsure whether that fee can be avoided...) For this price and the expected standard, not recommendable.

San Francisco is expensive, so this is just about the best value for money. If you are able to spend several hundred per night, there are better options, but for under 200 per night, this is pretty much the best!

My husband and I spent 3 nights at The Marker having stayed there several times in the past when it was The Monaco. It is a good value compared to other hotels in the Union Square area. The staff to the one is helpful and friendly. The attached restaurant serves an excellent breakfast. We walked most everywhere during our stay for dinners and for shopping as well as sight seeing and used Uber for anything not walkable. Looking forward to our next trip already.

Pros: Priceing, really enjoyed the location to Union Square, the staff were pleasant and very helpful. The rooms were clean, decorated very upbeat and funky. Cons, Parking:( and they advertised complimentary pizza and wine. The wine was available but the no pizza. Overall, the hotel is just beautiful and you couldnt ask for a better location to Union Square.

Great, beautiful, majestic hotel with a "crew" that supported it just as well. Lobby is breathtaking and I would have loved to spend more time there just enjoying a good book. Room was very, very comfortable and it seemed like a great place to hold business meetings.

We stayed at the Marker from 16th-20th November 2016, the room & location were great, BUT before we arrived my bill was messed up & taken from my account twice within 2 weeks of departure. I contacted the hotel 1st through email & then by phone luckily the payment was reversed back onto my card within 1 week. I would have rated the experience higher, but no hot water is not up to standard. The receptionist when I checked in was sorta cold and mechanical. And I received mixed instructions on phone and the maid service on location of ice, on which floors.
