When we checked in and went to our room we had a knock on the door immediately after, in which a lady came to check the bar and snack area after we had already checked in. She scampered around our small room to see what was drunken or eaten prior to us.... It was so weird and she didn't even check properly. There was also hair in the bathtub that which wasn't ours. Grossed me out a bit. The valet, check in went fine. Friendly staff. The restaurant staff was wonderful. Food and drinks were great!

We stayed in this hotel for two nights on Memorial day weekend. The hotel was very nice for the price. It's right on the edge of the tenderloin, so we did not walk to the left coming out of the hotel after dark, but it was fine during the day. We were super close to Union square which was fantastic. As well, the front staff was very knowledgeable and gave us great advice.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights on holiday in San Francisco and chose it mainly for its location. The location was probably the best thing about it, as we were disappointed with the what the rest of the hotel has to offer. The biggest shock of all was the rip-off amenity fee of which we were really not expecting when checking in. This made our stay +$140 more expensive than we had anticipated, as when we had booked this from the UK through Hotels.com, there was absolutely no mention of ... Read more

I really liked staying at this hotel, and would have rated it 4-5 stars, but when you get your bill there is a $30/day "Amenity Fee" attached. Me: I'm trying to understand how I expense the Amenity Fee. Hotel: It covers all of our amenites. Me: Like? Hotel: Local phone calls. Me: I didn't make any phone calls. Hotel: And coffee. Me: I didn't have any coffee. Hotel: We charge it regardless. In short, it's pure mark up without calling it part of the room rate. I find it very, very sneaky.

Stayed here for six nights whilst attending the Bio conference in San Francisco. The rooms were tiny! Didn't feel that clean! To make matters worse, they shut the bar for refurbishment. That meant you could not meet clients at the hotel bar. They didn't even arrange an alternative. As regards location, the hotel is on the wrong side of Union Square! Opened a bottle of wine from mini bar. Disgusting!!! Called the front desk. No apology, or any offer to send up another bottle. Two glasses with di... Read more

You 'll pay an extra fee of 37 just for what is free in most of hotels, such as wifi and coffee in the morning ( awful by the way) Mattress is compatible with a cheap motel , if you are unlucky you'll see little roaches roaming on your bed. No room service . If I didn't rate it lower is because front desk people are nice in general and they do what they can in order to make your stay more tolerable

The Markers has some nice design elements for a boutique hotel. But overall I think this hotel is overpriced.. It has the appearance of a boutique hotel. But I do not really get the attentiveness a boutique hotel provide. We asked for a room with high floor during the reservation. Rooms were clean, trendy and well-appointed. Wifi worked well, so I was able to get work done while in the room. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Kyle at the front desk was great - smiling, friendly and efficient. The bed was awesome. Hotel was right at Union Square, so shopping was right there at your doorstep. Only downside was the lack of view from my room (611), but I wasn't in town long enough for that to matter really. Be aware that there is a "resort fee" tacked onto the hotel room... Read more

Most importantly - it's way more spacious than other SF hotels, the beds are high-quality and super comfy, and the rooms get dark and quiet at night, with good temp control. Booked The Marker for a quick trip to San Francisco for a girls weekend. The room was sophisticated and cheery. We requested a high room away from the elevator and upgraded for a bit larger room. We traded a skewed view for the Geary St. elevation - this worked for us. Our experience began with Austin Bennett - he was so kind to upgrade our room to one of the beautiful Monte Carlo suites in honor of our anniversary! Once we arrived, Bryan at Front Desk was very sweet and helpful! It was a clear and concise check-in experience. The gentleman that helped us with our luggage was awesome as well (wish I could remember his name!). WINE SOCIAL HOUR is a must! My boyfriend and I were able to enjoy complimentary wine and make new friends! The suite was beautiful and t... Read more

After booking through a travel website, I called a few days before I arrived to let them know that my wife and I were celebrating a major milestone and I ask for some bubbly to be in our room for our expected check-in. When we arrived, I was pleased to hear that the hotel had upgraded our room and the bubbly was complementary - wow! Great service! There was also a hand-written note of congratulations from the front desk staff. The service we received was exemplary - they were attentive and h... Read more

I just stayed at the Marker Hotel in San Francisco for 2 nights. The staff was Outstanding. The Hotel was within walking distance to some really great restaurants and things to do. The Wine Hour was a very nice touch after a full day of sightseeing. I would highly recommend this hotel!!!

I was underwhelmed. We booked directly thru the hotel and was under the belief we would receive a better room than booking with Hotwire or Priceline. But we had a wonderful view of the alley and garbage cans, its a city, I get it, but the room was not clean, there were hairs on the bed, the shower didn't drain and the bed light was out. The additional $22 for amenities for a bike we couldn't ride because it was raining and we were told that there would be snacks from the restaurant and wine. We ... Read more

My husband and I stayed at the Marker for 2 nights, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Because we arrived early, we were able to store our bags safely and retrieve them without issue. The hotel is exquisite with a grand staircase. There is a restaurant as well, and they serve great pizza. We had a queen bed room, and it was a good size for us. We thought it would be noisy but the room was very quiet. We didn't hear any outside noise. The location is ex... Read more

I was intrigued with this property after checking out the rooms on the website. The rooms were as beautiful as the photos suggested. The entire property was super tastefully decorated. My senses were indulged. Really well done. And the food at Tratto was as tasteful and sensual.

The Marker Hotel is in The Union Square Area in San Francisco. The hotel itself is modern and strives to be different but there's nothing that really sets it apart. The rooms are tiny. I traveled alone so it wasn't a big deal but if you have company, lack of space will be an issue. The rooms are well decorated. I got the standard Queen and the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom is not huge, fitting for the size of the room. There's no free water and minimum toiletries. There's a dental kit ... Read more

I love this hotel been a guest for years here on business and pleasure, I have watched it change ownership through the years but always stayed loyal. Hotel is always clean, rooms are decent in size, and always well kept. I love the wine hour if you are off work in time and the large fireplace in the lobby makes it feel like home. The special touches from being a frequent guest made me come back more and more . The past 6 months though it seems to have lost that vibe, I cannot remember the last t... Read more

We spent a week here and really enjoyed it. The place is clean and bright. There's great shopping, live theatre and restaurants all within short walking distance. The staff were terrific - helpful and friendly. There's a wine hour from 5 to 6 pm - which is a great idea. I'd certainly return!

We stayed as a couple at The Marker hotel in July. We upgraded our room on arrival to room number 524. Bedroom, off room seating area and a large bathroom with jacuzzi. The staff were great at The Marker, always greeting you as you passed and asking how something they had recommended for us went. I loved the restaurant, we ate breakfast here every morning. I even recommended the breakfasts to Parisian cousins when they were in San Fran recently and they made their way to The Marker each morn... Read more

The Marker is ideally located near Union Square for shops and restaurants, within a 20 minute walk of the seafront, 5 minutes from the museums in the Tenderloin District and a 10 minute walk to Powell Street Station (for trains/underground etc) as well as a departure point for the famous Cable Cars that take you to the bay. The Marker was the best decision we had during our San Francisco stay. We stayed in three different downtown hotels, some big chain ones, and this was by far the best. Check in was fast, smooth and very courteous. Free drinks (water, coffee, wine) during different times in the day. The lobby is very charming, with gorgeous painted ceilings. The room, although on the smaller side, was very efficiently spaced (we had six large luggages and we managed to fit!), not to mention very quirky. You don't... Read more

We recommand, no doubt, The Marker. The ambiance, the room, the place, in general, was very good and the service was absolutely AMAZING! Benji, the concierge, is exceptionnal and he certainly contributed to our very positive experience. The "happy hour wine" was very nice, every night! People who works there are welcoming, smiling and devoted!

Stayed here for 5 nights early November in room 229. Shame about the area as it's located next to the tenderloin . We were accosted on several occasions by beggers and on our 2nd day witnessed a Chinese woman been robbed by a tramp on a bike. I know it's not there fault but it's a shame for the hotel. The hotel it's self we found great. Really nice interior and staff all really good. We had booked a junior spa room but we couldn't understand why it was a spa room. The bathroom was quite large b... - Not specifically mentioned that the "amenity fee" will be added to your bill - A towel in the bathroom was dirty - WIFI is not included (it is in the amenity fee - but I am unsure whether that fee can be avoided...) For this price and the expected standard, not recommendable.

San Francisco is expensive, so this is just about the best value for money. If you are able to spend several hundred per night, there are better options, but for under 200 per night, this is pretty much the best!

My husband and I spent 3 nights at The Marker having stayed there several times in the past when it was The Monaco. It is a good value compared to other hotels in the Union Square area. The staff to the one is helpful and friendly. The attached restaurant serves an excellent breakfast. We walked most everywhere during our stay for dinners and for shopping as well as sight seeing and used Uber for anything not walkable. Looking forward to our next trip already.
