We stay at one of the Hilton properties in SF at least six times a year. This is the newest of he three and we've stayed here twice. Location: very central and on the edge of the edgier side of SF. If you approach the hotel from 5th, your experience won't be any edgier then any other hotel. Just stay east of the hotel when walking around. It's in SOMA which is a mostly up area. But you will encounter homeless regardless of where you stay. Atmosphere of hotel Not much public space in this hotel ... Read more

It was a very good hotel. The room was very nice and comfortable. The breakfast was fine. The wireless worked well, but the hotel had no business center. This was the first Hampton Inn I have ever stayed in without a business center. I find that it is important to be able to print out a few pages and use the business facilities during business trips. It was a detriment and reduces my rating of the hotel.

Nice hotel. The rooms were clean. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful. The location is convenient to shopping and transportation but the neighborhood was on the rough side. The family loved the breakfast and the parents loved not having to find a place to eat each morning prior to siteseeing. We had a great time and would stay at Hampton Inn again!

Recently in San Fran for a work meeting. Most of the hotels were sold out, but Hampton had availability. Location was good. Hotel is very new like. Not a lot of restaurants and bars around, but the place we did find was really good. Only thing I had a tough time with was grabbing a cab from this location. Had to walk to the corner to get a cab. But good visit for the most part!

So this review is partially about the hotel but also includes San Fran and the area. The Hampton was actually pretty nice. Rooms are maybe a bit small but they are quite and clean, and I'll take that any day. The checkin/out staff was very friendly. The valet was also nice fellow and my car came back with no scratches, given the area that's a huge plus. The breakfast was a bit lamo, cereal, yogurts, bagels and some scrambled eggs and potatoes. Walking back from dropping off my rental, I wasn't to sure about the location of the hotel. Walking through the doors, I was greeted with a clean, modern, sophisticated lobby and helpful employees at the desk. The room was large and comfortable. Access to the rooms is available only with a room key. The breakfast area is in the basement of the hotel and is large and bright and the staff was continually refilling the fresh fruit, bread tray, and anything else that was needed. The hotel is cl... My family and I stayed 2 nights at the hotel as all other hotels of our choice were booked up - Hilton and Marriot. The decor and cleanliness were great however for the price paid it didn't meet our expectations (it was during convention time and Copa America so prices were inflated). Luckily my family and I can sleep through loud music and thunder need be - if you are a light sleeper I would not recommend any room on the 5th floor facing the back alley on Jessie street - the night club/lounge... So this Hampton is definitely trendier than most, but not unlike the one in Miami, Brickell, in terms of style. It's interesting, because the elements of cool design are there, but it's very obviously a Hampton. (Note: I like Hamptons, but they're just simple, reliable places - nothing overly special). The hotel is brand spankin' new. That's nice. The rooms are tiny, which is blah, but the bathrooms are generally big. Some rooms have a goofy, leaky shower door. Dumb design. The ... Read more

I have to say that the staff, the place itself, and everything was great. They accommodated us to the top floor for a pristine view of Downtown and the Bay Bridge. It was fantastic. The staff is very friendly, and they do requests according to your needs. We had late checkout that day and if you are in a rewards program, for which I do recommend people do join, they can give you some benefits. This is a very old building. While the rooms have been updated, the lobby is a very ugly retro style. The doors are extremely heavy, making it difficult to enter and depart, especially with luggage. Our double room was extremely small, and our view was of the ugly alley behind the hotel. There is a night club behind the hotel that blasted very loud dance music until the wee hours, and even with the windows closed it kept us awake. We stayed here for 2 nights and really liked it. The hotel was modern and beautiful. I've seen some people question the area and we don't agree. This is a great location, which is centrally located in the heart of downtown San Fransisco. The only area for improvement that I would say falls on the city of San Fransisco is the amount of homeless people who are in the down town area. First thing, San Francisco has a large homeless population. Do not let that scare you away, most of them are harmless and do not bother anyone. The Hampton Inn is relatively a new hotel in SF, but in the older section(mission district). We were greeted by the front desk by Jesse and Jerome, both were very helpful. If you are a business traveler and need your cell phone while working from the hotel, avoid this one. Cell signals are horrible and it is not an unknown problem so the hotel must not feel it is important to fix it. Quality of breakfast is poor, so plan to go else where. Also, signage to find the hotel is poor so be on the look out if this is your first time and you are not familiar with the area. Not nearly worth $400 per night.

I rated the hotel very good because it is relatively new (at least remodeled) and the staff was great. Rooms were very small, although clean. You get your solid Hampton Inn breakfast and a viewing (until 5 or 6pm) from the 16th floor roof deck. There are a good number of homeless in the area, but that seems to be the deal in San Fran. It's been a positive experience from the moment I called up the hotel for booking up to the time we departed. Thanks to the tips of the travellers we got an accessible room with a king size bed, sofa bed, and mini refrigerator at the 16th floor. Hence, we got a quarter view of the city and the SF Bay Bridge! Take note that rooms in the lower floor may face a brick wall. Morover, we had room for our luggages in the toilet and bath. We slept comfortably on the king size bed with clean and white ... I would not recommend this hotel as the neighbourhood is very scetchy! Lots of homeless people and we were afraid to be on the street after dark! Our window faced a brick but were told it was better than being on the other side as it faced a noisy bar.We used Uber for, transportation and happy we did as we did not want to walk anywhere around the hotel. Really surprised Hilton bought here.

So I get why some people may not like this location... It stinks outside! But in the city the homeless are everywhere... Even in front of the nicer hotels. My family and I found the location to be central to everything. It was our kids' first time in SF so we did all the touristy things. Bus/ trolley stops were nearby, shopping, restaurants were all minutes of walking. The hotel is nice inside, looked newer than most Hamptons we've stayed at. I also was not feeling 100%. First of all, the good: 1. The staff is of the usual Hilton quality. Very professional and helpful. I probably spoke to 3-4 different people about various topics during my day. They were the major reason the review wasn't lower. 2. I've got to give credit to Hilton for being able to carve out... Homeless sleeping all up and down the sidewalk, but once you are inside it's a very good stay for the price. As a Hilton Honor's member I did get a better room. I was at a conference and ended up staying here. I enjoyed my stay. The rooms are SMALL but very modern, comfortable, and have all you need. The rates vary a great deal depending on the length of stay and the nights you stay. For example, if I would have stayed Thursday and Friday night instead of Wednesday and Thursday night, it would have been $100 a night less. I found out I could have stayed at the Intercontinental for the same price if I would have used a conference rate and this place is... Read more

I needed a place downtown for a business trip, and this fit the bill as far as location and budget. For one night, it was fine. It's a bit grungy around there, but that's San Francisco, where the homeless and panhandlers put New York to shame. Smallish room, but that's no surprise. This hotel is only 1 year old so very clean and up-to-date. Great room with King Bed and Sofa Bed sleeper, but a little crowded. Ask for an upgrade to have a room with a little more space. The hot breakfast was great and served in a lovely breakfast room. VERY friendly and helpful staff! It's beautiful in SF with all the holiday decorations.

I'm a huge Hampton Inn fan, so I was thrilled that they opened one near the convention center in San Francisco. It's a block from Target, two blocks from the convention center. Free breakfast. Free wifi. White bedding - proving its clean.

Good location, clean room, easy to walk to theater and shopping.Used a parking garage 1 block away, less expensive Many restaurants within 5 blocks.Rooms were quiet. Felt secure here although the streets are colorful!

I usually stay at the Hilton in Union Square. I chose this Hampton because it was closer to my meeting location, but I will not return. There are not many places nearby to eat and I did not feel safe walking in area at night. The In-room internet service did not work at all. I will return to the Hilton.
