My family and I stayed three nights at Cornell Hotel. I chose this hotel based on TA's reviews and hotel's website. The old Victorian building conveys it a quaint, peculiar air, which we generally like of European-style hotels like this one. However, I expected more of our rooms, based on the photos on the hotel's website. We had a triple room overlooking the street and a junior suite, overlooking a close blank wall, literally. I had selected this type of room as we wanted to be comfortable af... Read more

Positioned just north of Union Square with easy access to central San Francisco. Hotel management French and very helpful. Staff mainly Vietnamese and charming. Very good breakfasts with the phrase of the day 'coffee, coffee'. Our room was a bit small but that was what we choose price wise. Rooms comfortable and goood value. The cable car goes right past the door and plenty of taxis. If coming from San Francisco International Airport take the BART railway to Powell Street, then either a brisk ... Read more

My husband has stayed at the Cornell more times than we can count; sometimes I come with him to San Francisco, and we always stay here. The location is perfect; the staff friendly and welcoming. We especially like the sit down breakfast in the restaurant. The rooms are small, but clean and comfortable. Above all, the hotel has lots of personality. The Cornell is family-owned and managed; everyone at the Cornell makes us feel welcome. It helps of course that they know my husband pretty well... Read more

It was our first time in San Fran. We retired a year ago and have been traveling ever since. Having spent 5 months in Europe, we are now on the west coast of the US. We do have to live within a budget. Cornell Hotel de France was slightly above budget but it was San Fransisco. It did include a full, hot breakfast which was very good. The building is old and the room small but very clean with great staff. They also had the best price for parking if you have a car Highly recommend.

The hotel is nicely decorated, in an old-fashioned but clean and pleasant way. My room was on the back of the hotel, so quite calm, and the breakfast included (except for tips) was simple but satisfactory. The staff was very helpful and kind (half of them are french, which might be helpful for people not at ease in english).

The decoration of this hotel is very surprising at first:you feel as visiting a medieval castle in lobby and restaurant. Every floor honours a famous french great artist. Room was small but very clean and bed comfortable. No noise even if you are in center of SF.Very good breakfasr included and everyone working there was smiling and helpful.A nice pied-a-terre in SF!

We stayed here one night upon our arrival from overseas. We were not sure what we had got in to when we entered the lobby but our room was quite nice and the bed very comfortable. This hotel has a lot of charm but is not very big Breakfast was good and the wifi worked well. Choose it if it fits your budget. There are many choices in the area.

The rooms were cozy and cute, the location was within walking distance for everything we wanted to do. Breakfast was delicious and included! Loved the old-style elevator and decor. The claw foot tub was fun, but a big step up to enter. Not as many electrical outlets to charge all of our devices as a newer hotel, but we managed!

It was a short 1 night stay, but very comfortable and a terrific bargain for the location! I left off the last rating point for our room for 3- only ready for 2... 2 towels, 2 instant coffee, etc. I am sure if I had asked; it would have been provided. Breakfast was delicious!
