The hotel is very beautiful, like you jump to Paris. The service was amazing and on top on that the location is perfect . If you looking a good France restaurant don't forget to visit the hotel restaurant. For sure I will be back.

We stayed 4 nights here over New Years. The Cornell hotel is a little slice of France and for those who love all things French, this is certainly the spot. There are a number of reasons I gave 5 stars... 1. Location...Just two blocks from Union Square and all the action there. Close to shops/restaurants/transportation and only 3 blocks away from the gates of China town. All these places are easily walkable. 2. Cable Car...Powell St. stop is but 50 yards away. California line is but two blocks aw... Read more

A cozy hotel with lots of character. Our room was nice, clean and comfortable, just perfect for my husband and I. Lots of hand painted touches. We were on a higher floor and it was nice and quiet. Breakfast was served in their restaurant. It was a perfect start to our day, it was simple and delicious. Just a tip, the restaurant gets booked so reserve your dinner ahead of time. We couldn't take advantage of the restaurant because it was fully booked but the smell was mouth watering.. Great lo... Read more

This French themed hotel is conveniently located close to Union Square and Chinatown. My room was small but wonderfully decorated and very quiet. The whole hotel is an oasis with very original internal decoration and very helpful and friendly staff. It indeed feels like a classic family hotel in Paris.

What a really lovely hotel, the location was great, the room was comfortable and roomy. We had a great breakfast with lots of choice and the staff were very accommodating. They had an old fashioned lift with the screen door, which was a nice touch. The Christmas decorations and the French theme throughout the hotel is very quirky and wonderful. The only negative was the heating, it was so uncomfortably hot in the hotel and no way of turning the heat down, however I would defiantly recommend thi... Read more

I stayed here for a business meeting (JPM Healthcare Conf). It was super convenient to the Union Square area, staff was very helpful, rooms are clean and comfy. Breakfast is included and was fine. It has more of an Inn or BandB feel vs a hotel. And its a GREAT value. Only downside for me was the tub was an old type with ball and claw feet so I had to be careful when getting in/out. And the bonus is Michele -- a beautiful Golden Retriever who is the owners dog and hangs around the lobby. Made me ... Read more

Great location, great staff. Smallish rooms but tremendous value. Love the dog who hangs around the lobby. This is the only place that I stay when I'm in town. Two blocks down the hill to Union Square.

Great location. 200m to Union Square, the best (and expensive) shops. If you don't mind the room is really small. One first problem: We went in january (winter) an the room is too hot. You have to let the window open to help the fan in the ceiling with the air circulation. Second problem: the carpets are very dirty. We suggest a general cleaning or replacement. Staff are very gentle and the breakfast fantastic - for my taste (one choice between 2 options). I don't like buffets! Anyway, it's a ve... Read more

A small hotel owned an operated by one couple??? Quelle marvellieux! Seriously...the Cornell is an oasis. All of the staff are just so helpful. The hotel rooms are European small-but-acceptable and well sized. Each floor is themed with art from Gaugin and Lautrec...complementary coffee in the cozy lobby. Yes, this is an old property. It's clean enough and its location is just off of Union Square enough to make it slightly less hectic. I would recommend it highly to those who don't want to pay hu... Read more

This is an older hotel building (I'd guess pre WW II) that has been updated with most modern conveniences but retaining what I would call the charm of the older building. I can imagine that this isn't a hotel that would appeal to everyone. I hate those soulless mega chain hotels and purposefully look for smaller quaint hotels. The hotel is conveniently close to Union Square (near Bush and Powell) and a pleasant walk to the Moscone where I was doing work. The outside was under repair so it wasn... Read more
