Incredible customer service. From the phone call to set up champagne in our upgraded suite to the valet guys to Lavon giving us her warm welcome at the front desk! We will be back! We loved the craft cocktails at the Mermaid as well! I am allergic to down and forgot to tell the hotel. I told the bellman and it was changed out right away! Also the concierge directed us as to what type of transportation to use to get to The Greek Theater to see Paul Simon! Super fun night celebrating my husband'... Read more

Four of us stayed in this hotel for 2 nights recently, and found the location fantastic for the delights of Fisherman's Wharf, the Embarcadero and a short drive from the Marin Headlands. It was easy to find and we had no issues with the check-in, which was courteous and friendly. The parking is, in relation to other places we visited, expensive but I had researched other self-parks in the area and found these to be only a little less than the hotel valet park so opted for the latter at $60/nigh... We booked this hotel at the last minute. I looked at Frommers first for the rating. We loved the Nautical theme and the view from our room was great. The room is crisp and very neat. The bed provided an awesome nights rest. The hotel location is right off the wharf at the corner of Hyde and Jefferson. Excellent location! The staff are wonderful and were very attentive. Stayed at The Argonaut May 5th to 10th 2016 for the start of three week visit to USA. Room 433 nice enough and clean and comfortable but noisey fridge located right at the end of the bed ! Never made any connection with any member of staff as always so busy or changing. The Blue Mermaid restaurant and bar within the hotel served the best clam chowder we ate anywhere in San Francisco. Can recommend the Muir Woods trip with a drop off in Sausalito and then ferry back across the bay to Pier 39.

My husband surprised me with a trip to the Argonaut for my birthday. It was an absolutely amazing experience! The hotel was in the perfect location, right on the bay, and we could see Alcatraz from our window! The suite was big, perfectly decorated and had the BEST jetted tub (also with bay views). On top of a great hotel itself, I cannot stress how amazing the staff was...truly wanted to make our stay the best, and they did! Lavon, especially, went above and beyond for us. From a canning factory to an upscale hotel, this hotel provides all the amenities anyone could ask for. From the doorman (in uniform) to the special pillows on the bed, This hotel is an example of turning something old into something new. The rooms are large, beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are modern. The staff is friendly, and efficient.

You cannot fault the location of this hotel, so close to the Wharf and the Hyde cable car route. Our room was also of a very high quality. However, for a hotel to say "we just need a card for incidentals" and then proceed to pre-authorise a $700 payment without advising you, is completely unacceptable, and made the first 2 nights of our holiday highly stressful as we assumed the car hire company had done something, and left me with no spending money for our anniversary holiday, having to rely o... Unfortunately we arrived here over Memorial Day weekend so it was very busy in the streets. Our travel agent had recommended this hotel for the location but everything is so close that we needn't have stayed there and should rather have stayed up the hill. We booked a king room with bay view but got a side room overlooking the tram station. We were not affected by the noise at night which was a concern as this is a low building.

The hotel is located in what was once the Del Monte Cannery. It was the first building built entirely of recycled brick from the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. The hotel has a nautical theme. The rooms are not the largest I have ever stayed in, but are big compared to some of the other hotels I‚??ve stayed at In San Francisco. The rooms are well decorated and equipped. Hotel is very well located and rooms whilst not huge are spacious and well kept. The hotel make kids very welcome and has everything close by for tourists but is not in the parts of town that seem unsafe. Everything in San Francisco is very overpriced and poor value but if you want to visit this is a great spot to base yourself.

This was a great location. You can walk to everything and the trolley car is right next to the hotel. We had two rooms and they both were beautifully decorated and very comfortable. We wish the museum inside the hotel had longer hours. We never had a chance to visit it. We traveled with a bus tour. The only disappointment was the breakfast. It was not a very good buffet.

First off, it's a great boutique hotel (fairly large) with a pretty cool nautical theme. The bar at the restaurant downstairs was cool as well. Everyone was helpful. It was clean and up-kept very well. Best part however was the location. It is literally across the street from the Maritime Museum and about a block from Fisherman's Wharf. Everything you'd like to see in a long weekend is in walking distance (i.e. no rental car needed). I was at a conference, so I didn't have all of the fr... Read more

In the Fishermans Wharf area, which is a great base for the bay, piers, cable car routes to downtown and quite simply just a great hotel. Good location, bright and clean. A bit impersonal - I guess there are always people staying here for just a brief time. They were polite but not keen to think outside the box. It would have been nice to have milk provided with the tea/coffee in room so when I went to ask for some at 7.45 this morning, I was told that I had to wait until the restaurant opened at 8. Very nice hotel with a nautical theme on the edge of Fisherman's Wharf so it's quiet but great for accessing the main attractions. The hotel amenities are good (although they don't have their own restaurant which I always find a bit of a pain) and we had a King Room for two nights which was very comfortable and well appointed. The staff are friendly and polite. My only criticism would be the $50 per day parking fee which seems a bit steep.

Not only is the hotel of a good standard, its location is ideal - access to downtown is easy, a very nice area next to the hotel to chill out overlooking the Bay and, whilst on Fisherman's Wharf, the Argonaut is at the "quiet" end away from the frenetic Pier 39. Fisherman's Wharf is rather crowdy and not the nicest spot in San Francisco. However, the Argonaut is at the nicer eng and directly at the Cablecar station. The next morning a staff member said it was unplugged by previous guest. Hence we had a very unpleasant first nights sleep and at approx $500 us a night this was disappointing. Since it was our honeymoon, they upgraded us to the massive suite at no extra cost and gave us a bottle of champagne! So nice. Laren was very accommodating. The only non-smooth issue was parking. They don't have a lot, but you can park around the block in a garage for $45/24 hours. A bit of a pain, but only if you need your car often and are staying many nights it can get expensive. The old brick warehouse is well re-used and many historical features readily visible, although as New Zealanders who are well versed in earthquake risks and how these can be counteracted through the Building Standards Code, we really do question if this brick building will withstand a major shake.
