We booked a petite suite for our week long stay and the room was great. It gave us enough space, the bed was comfortable and the cleaning staff did a great job every day. The location was superb for all our tourist activities and we found every staff member to be very friendly and helpful. This is the second time I've stayed at Andrews Hotel and I'll be back!

Shower was too small to stand in. Room was fine but small and dull. Daily maid service missed spots each cleaning. Location is good and rates were reasonable. This is a decent spot for the price but I couldn't really endorse it and feel good about it.

We stayed here for 3 nights in early April 2016, first stop on a 3 week California road trip. Pros: Fantastic location, just a few minutes walk from Union Square, and less than 10 minutes to Powell Street station (be warned, it's uphill from the station!). This was perfect for us as we were up really early with jet lag so could ride cable cars whilst it was quiet (no queues!). Lots of good restaurants & bars nearby. Lovely historical building, great to have the history detailed in the vinta... Read more

We stayed here 18th-21st March 2016. Great location, very friendly staff and comfortable room. We booked our room on Hotwire and presumably were given their smallest room. We didn't have any complaints. The front desk staff and housekeeping were very nice - happy to help with any questions we had and could suggest restaurants/things to do. Breakfast was basic but good - we quite liked having the breakfast just outside our room in the morning - we could pick up a few things as we were headi... Read more

Rooms are very small and no Restaurant to have breakfast, but only in the room. However, I must say that staff (specially) front office team were so friendly and always go extra miles to please all guests. they are the best and smile at all times. If you have low budget and will spend all day outside like myself so this is the perfect place. It is 5 minutes walk from city center (union sq.) and very near to all attraction and cable car. Thanks to all Front desk team to make my stay enjoyable one... Read more

Spent a couple of nights at this hotel and booked two. Staff were great and had morning breakfast included. Though the room we stayed in were small but it was good enough for my family and it was affordable. If you're not worried about the room being small then this hotel is for you. Locations is great and Budget Rental was just across the road from the hotel!

We spent two nights here and enjoyed our stay. The rooms are smallish, but we did not spend much time in the room so not a problem. The location was central to everywhere we wanted to go so that was very nice.

This hotel is oozing with character and is a genuine, traditional experience. Although a little noisy at night and could do with a little TLC in places, I wouldn't have changed my experience for anything. Lovely continental breakfast in the morning and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly.

Even though 2nd floor, the room is quiet, the hotel is not too far the main street , so it is convenient to go to union squre. And room is clean, the hotel is cozy. My room is queen bed room , so the restroom is not too small for me.

This hotel is from 1905, 1 year before the big earthquake of 1906 - a survivor. It has 42 rooms, a small lobby and delightful restaurant called "Fino". The rooms are decorated in an old style, including old metal bed frames, and the rooms are small, but if you're in San Francisco to enjoy the sights, it doesn't matter. I really loved the personal service, and the ability to meet new people in the restaurant because of the hotel's small size. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the mattres... Read more

I love the Andrews. I rarely stay at small hotels or independent hotels these days. I'm addicted to my Hilton & Starwood points...but when all of those were astronomically expensive, I fell back on my familiar and wonderful Andrews Hotel. Years ago, I would often eat at their restaurant, Fino. The food's still delicious at Fino, and the hotel is as special as ever. Note that the rooms are very small. You may not have much of a view (not compared to the 32nd floor of the Hilton), but th... Read more

We stayed at the Andrews hotel in June 2016 on a 5 day break but it was too long in cramped conditions a couple of days would have been enough, with no air conditioning just a ceiling fan. I got flea bitten on the first day and got moved to an even smaller room with no compensation offered. We noticed an exterminator company the next day, so a day later we asked to return to our original room and we did as it was larger than the single they put us in. The continental breakfast was ok and complim... Read more

The hotel is very well located for everything tourists want to do . It is "old world San Francisco" complete with old style lift ..It is old, quirky and charming. We loved it . We purposely booked a "Petit Suite" knowing that the world over ,hotels like this have small rooms . That gave us a seperate bedroom and small lounge. It was absolutely ideal . There are not many of these .We had booked 8 months ahead which may not work for some . The breakfast of pastries fruit freshly brewed coffee a... Read more

My husband and I spend some days in the Andrews hotel. Good ratio quality-price in San Francisco. Excellent location, very close to Union Square and Market street. Very nice attention and the old fashion elevator is nice plus. The breakfast was simple but good. They keep our baggage after the check out so we can spend more time in the city. We will come back again. Thank you to the staff.

This "little jewel" was charming and delightful. For my husband and myself, it was just what we expected. We chose the "Sunny-bay" room which was a small, but not the smallest, room. Our goal was not to be in the room for our entire trip, but enjoying the sights and sounds of the big city! We found the accommodations delightful. No complaints! If we had wanted a "real hotel", we would have checked in at the Marriott. The Andrews Hotel had that "old San Franciscan" charm that we had hoped for!

It is one of the older buildings that survived the great fire and converted to a hotel. The building is charming and location is nice, but the room condition matches perhaps what one should expect for that location at that price. The bathroom is really about ONE foot deep as some other reviewers observed. It could have been converted from a clothes closet. I had to step out of it to dry myself with a towel without cleaning the walls too. The buffet breakfast table in the hallway of each floor is... Read more

Friendly staff are the key to this business. They helped us purchase Baseball tickets and gave us directions to get to the game which was really very kind of them. Location is great, just 2 blocks to Union Square and shopping etc. Located in a safe area to walk to and from at night. The room was small but adequate but would require some extra air or ventilation if the weather was any hotter than it was when we visited in August. The restaurant within the hotel is great with lovely food but our w... Read more

The bathroom really let this hotel down. It is so extremely small, that if you aren't medium to small build then don't bother staying here because you simply won't fit past basin into shower... and if you do, you won't be able to do a 360 turn. Luckily my husband and I are medium build and fit ok, but washing hair is a challenge, as there isn't a lot of room for lifting arms up. We've travelled Japan, which is renowned for small bathrooms, but this is by far the smallest! The shower would be no ... Read more

We stayed here for our 15th wedding anniversary. We enjoyed our stay very much. Centrally located to Union Square which allowed us to park and then walk everywhere. We love that one of our favorite dining, Fino is downstairs in the hotel. Would recommend the petite suite it was perfect in size. The character of the hotel is wonderful. Makes you feel like you are in old SF. The service was exceptional. Will definitely return for another stay.

The hotel is located in the middle of San Francisco - near all "have seens". The rooms are quite small and there are rarely possibilities to store your clothes. We lived out of the box for a few days. Very friendly staff. Breakfast isn't recommendable. Go out and have breakfast in one of the regional small restaurants.

This is a lovely hotel 5 minute walk from Union Square. The room was alittle small, comfortable bed, clean, a good size walk in closet which had a safe, iron and ironing board. Staff very friendly and a very quick check in. A great shower and plenty of hot water. Breakfast was placed on a table in the hall of all the floors, tea/coffee, orange juice, fruit and a selection of pastries. Very disappointed, hotel needs desperate renovation especially reception area. I think we must have been allocated the worst room in the hotel, bed pushed to wall and u can't get out and the bathroom was only ok if u was under 10 not suitable for adults and we are both of small frame. Breakfast was ridiculous and served on a cabinet on the landing, if u didn't get a drink early the water would be cold. Breakfast variety was poor with just fruit and croissants so we had to eat out each morning

My husband and I stayed at the Andrews Hotel during the hottest days of the year in San Francisco this past September. There is no air conditioning at the hotel and with temperatures in high 80s, we had to open the window. The problem with the open window though was the street noise as it was so loud with honking horns, sirens, drunks yelling out on the street in the middle of the night, recycle trash cans being tipped over for rummaging through... Oh my goodness!! Needless to say I would need t... Read more

We were supposed to stay three days but left on the first because of how cramped the entire hotel was. No A/C they said the bed was a king but it was definitely a full. The WiFi didn't wotk, the TV was the size of a laptop screen, and don't bother taking a shower because it pools up and becomes a bath. The only nice thing about this place was the staff and complimentary wine.

The hotel is in a great location only a couple of minutes walk from Union Square. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the complimentary glass of wine at 5pm each day was very welcome. The only negative for us was the size of the bathroom which was very cramped (we were in room 508). That said the shower was very nice.

Visited on business for dinner one night; laughed out loud to ourselves..."We simply must come visit on our own time and stay right here in this little hotel..." never going to happen. But the "never" came and the restaurant is only open in the evenings after 5pm so we had to stay at the hotel if we were going to eat. Happy we did! Big meal, straight upstairs to bed. It's not what we thought it would be. First thing, there is no AC so we were lucky it wasn't to warm out. Rooms were still warm and it was 50-60 F out. Rooms are small but clean. Car parking is 48$ day which seems about average for the area. We are on the 3rd floor, small stairway or old elevator. Breakfast was pastries and fruit on the table in the hall on each floor. I enjoyed my stay here very much. I am in a lower tiered hotel in SF about 3 times a year and I would stay here every time now that I have found it, if I can get the same deal I got this time (from Hotels.com). I booked about a month in advance and got such a good rate that I booked a suite (knowing how small SF rooms can be - it was a steal).
