This hotel is in an amazing location - so close to great places to eat, grocery stores, cycling stores and things to see - we hardly ventured anywhere else! The staff are so friendly and there is free tea and coffee all day! Don't be put off by the shared bathrooms - there was always at least one available to use and they were very clean and well stocked! If you have a group of more than 2 people, perhaps consider booking two rooms? We had just one room for three of us as we didn't realis... Read more

Hotel was small, quaint and clean. Quiet for the most part but did get a little night traffic in the hallways since we were located next to the restrooms. Good for the price point but main complaints were the extra small rooms (barely room to walk around bed)and sharing bathrooms with the rest of the hotel. Only 2 toilets and 2 showers per floor however they were clean and rooms were clean as well.

Great location, very good wifi, I was able to stream video, but it might not be as good in every room or when it is busier. Cute place, small room with a sink and mirror dresser and chest for hanging clothes or luggage (you can also check your luggage if space is a problem) . Coffee all day. Computer down stairs if you don't have one. Not for folks who need a TV, or a shower or toilet in their room(it is down the hall). Also one must be able to walk up stairs. The heater was a bit too hot, an... Read more

The San Remo Hotel, I realize, is the reason I visited San Francisco for the 3rd time in 20 years. The first time I went there I was young and single. And now I am married with a 6 y.o. child. I wish I can find a San Remo Hotel in every other city I visit: Good value, fantastic location, great neighborhood, good facilities. Would I go to San Francisco again for a 4th time? Who knows. But if I do I know where I would be staying.

We stayed a couple nights here on a short visit to San Francisco. We had used booking.com so I imagine that's why we got an inside room without windows but that was ok. The room was super warm even with the ceiling fan and other fan on. The staff were all friendly and helpful anytime we needed anything. The place was kept clean and we didn't have issues with bathroom waits. The massage chairs and hot drinks and sweets were such a treat - all great touches. The bed was kind of comfortable but did... 2nd stay at San Remo. Absolutely delightful, authentic and charming. Loved the restaurant downstairs for a special meal. So much memorabilia to peruse on the walls. Yes, you can hear your neighbors. If you like "funky," you'll love this place as well. Note: Many stairs.

We stayed one night at the San Remo. Most lodging in the city was extremely expensive-we picked here because it was the cheapest. It has a lot of character and nice little touches throughout like snacks, drinks, and toiletries. Our room was teeny tiny but clean and comfortable and the shared bathrooms/showers were also very clean. The staff was friendly and it was very helpful to be able to keep our luggage behind the desk the next day while we explored before our evening flight.

If you love European-style hotels that are the antithesis of, say, a Motel 6, you will love San Remo. While the rooms are tiny, they're clean and well-maintained. There are all sorts of delightful surprises, such as the massage chair in the book-lined reading alcove, and the jars of licorice and Tootsie Rolls next to the coffee and hot water dispensers. Bathrooms are clean and well-stocked, and front desk staff are friendly and so very helpful. I adored getting to share this hotel with guests fr... Read more

This place is lovely if you love quirky stuff! Cosy little rooms which literally have a bed and a wardrobe. Beds are high and comfortable but very bouncy! The walls are paper thin so you do here literally everything! Shared bathrooms and showers which are clean but personally I don't like as it's a long walk at night down the hall!

We stayed at the San Remo Hotel twice on our way to and from New York. It is an easy walk to Fishermans Wharf , near the cable cars and close to buses. So a very convenient and quiet location. It is not your usual sterile hotel. The rooms are all quite small with floral carpets , old fashioned beds, floral bedspreads, an old wardrobe and side tables - some rooms have lace curtained windows to the street while others are internal with windows to the corridor. Each room and all the corridors are ... Read more
