I am not a fan of the American cookie-cutter large hotels in which category the Ritz-Carlton would fit. I prefer smaller, uniquely designed properties with a stronger personality. The Ritz-Carlton San Francisco has all the attributes you'd expected from a Ritz-Carlton property. I stayed there for a conference (which thankfully provided wifi access for our stay at no additional cost) as I believe this service is not normally included in the room rate. Staff was friendly but did not explain t... Read more

We spent a three nights and couldn't have been happier with our immaculate, well appointed room. All of the staff and their levels of friendliness and levels of service were fantastic. We had a private dinner and the chef was kind enough to step out after dinner to explain how to prepare his mushroom ravioli dish that had everyone swooning with pleasure. All of the food was delicious. Chef was very charming and gracious to share some of his techniques. A special thanks to Roe who helped me find... Read more

My husband and I are departing San Francisco as I write this review. The Ritz was the perfect place to stay. The staff was incredibly nice! Every single person we encountered smiled and wished us a good day as we came and went. The room was clean and quite. All of the furnishings are newer but the building still holds historical charm. We had the pleasure of having Brian as our bartender twice. He did a great job at making us feel special! We also used the 4hr rush laundry service. Everything ca... Read more

My husband and I stayed here two weeknights in May. Our suite had a very comfortable living area with a large TV. Netflix had just been added to the TV, which was very nice for us. Everything was immaculate. Bottled water refreshed at least twice a day. Shoes polished, no problem. 1-hr clothes pressing, done. Room service, delightful. We had the delicious breakfast buffet in the restaurant, with excellent service. We also enjoyed the lobby bar (duck fat fries!). This was a splurge for us, but we... Read more

The property itself is not that amazing, standard upscale hotel in San Francisco. I would compare with the Drake or St Francis... Classy but tight on space, meaning no swimming pool. Parking is always a challenge in San Francisco, I always advise people to leave their car at home. Do not rent a car, it's more fun taking the public transportation and/or walking than the hassle of driving. ALSO, no matter where you stay, parking is like paying another rent, $50 a night to park is not uncommon and ... Read more

This is a grand old hotel that takes up much of a city block. Built on a slope it is low rise and has limited views. In this trip to San Fran we were really satisfied to go without a view of the city, instead we got to glimpse across the historic courtyard from our standard King room. My first impression when I got there was a feeling of grandeur. Not only because as a European, everything seems ?? and is ?? bigger in the United States, but the building was truly impressive from the outside. The Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco is a wonderfully friendly high end hotel. The rooms appear to have been recently redone. There is a nice fitness facility and pool. The restaurant and bars are nice places to spend some time. But the most outstanding feature is the helpful staff. They work hard to ensure all guests' requests are met.
