Went here with my mother and sister who really loved the furniture and entire d├ęcor in general. Hotel is a little on the older side, but has a great haunted feel to it which was perfect for Halloween. Really great neighborhood, walking distance to many shops and restaurants. And only a short ride to fisherman's wharf.

Paid for $805 USD for 5 nights - not that bad for San Fran over the busy New Year period (I believe). Bit annoyed as we choose to pay later (on a popular booking site) and it was slightly more expensive but they charged my card straight away so that was a waste of time and money. Staff are friendly and helpful. Wifi is pretty good. The location is ok but not the best. Great, clean and safe, location for Japan town - homeless people free. Unique hotel with great Christmas decorations - I saw me... Read more

Stayed here in September 2015, Very nice hotel, Friendly staff, Decent breakfast. Location is abit of a problem but i dont mind walking so it was fine. Only problem was when it came to settling the bill a ghost-like entity appeared in front of me and repeated over and over that the hotel had cheaper rates in the late 19th Century and to ask for a price match which was promptly denied.

The negative point 1st: ask for the room size. We were in room no. 417 (4th floor) which was kind of noisy as located next to the elevator. It also was a tiny room with the bed against the wall. Our friends were more lucky and had a much larger corner room for the same price. But lots of positive elements to report starting from the friendly service everywhere, particularly the reception and concierge (was so helpful for restaurant & other recommendations - thanks!). The breakfast buffet was ve... Read more

First of all, the staff were very accommodating. I called to see if my husband could check in early. They were most helpful. I arrived later with friends who were also staying there. It is a very well appointed Victorian period hotel. It was all decked out for the holidays and the staff were, again, just as nice as they could be. They invited us down in the early evening (, I think?) for sherry, which we declined, though my friend snagged a cookie that was out when we walked through about ... Read more

I fell in love with this hotel at first sight! The decor throughout is delightful and the Christmas decor in the lobby and common area is over the top in the best way. I was pleasantly surprised to be treated so nicely at check in, even though we booked through a third party. The upgrade to a room with a fireplace really added something special to our weekend getaway. The hotel is located in a beautiful neighborhood, fun to walk around and enjoy the all the Victorians. It's just a quick cab ... Read more

Hotel located a bit walking distance and areas where nothing really happends. You need consider and Love to walk to reach central city and Union Street, but calme clean area in Japan town. Lovely rooms and great service but for us too long to reach city lite. Environment very different but truly a great experience. Nice beds and big room and very clean. We missed to have access to restaurants nearby and a bit of citylife when staying 6 nights as we did.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel in March of 2016. The hotel is simply beautiful with lots of antiques everywhere. We stayed in the room with a giant Jacuzzi, which was very nice. While the hotel is not exactly near the waterfront, it is not too far of a walk either. I would recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a romantic weekend getaway, which is what we did.

It was an older hotel, and the beds weren't great, but for the price in San Francisco, it was decent. It felt a little stale, not much air flow. The breakfast was good. And they do have a parking lot which I don't think is all that common in the area. They do charge for parking, we stayed 1 night and paid about $23 for parking, don't know if that's a daily rate or what, but the lot is convenient. Staff was nice and friendly, everyone had smiles on their faces. They have DirecTV so lots of chann... Read more

This is a lovely property and has a great ambiance of antiques, architectural history, and lush colors, fabrics, and shapes. The lobby is amazing with small groups of chairs and couches in clusters where groups can chat and play games, or singles can relax and work on laptops. Our room on the second floor had a refrigerator and views out the windows to the street plus a small table for eating late night supers. We thought the beds were fine and everything in the room itself was more than adeq... Read more
