I spent at least an hour going through the list of hotels recommended by UCSF - looking at them on Tripadvisor. I finally chose the Queen Anne as mid-priced and reasonably well reviewed. Overall I found the experience disappointing and would not stayt here again. This place feels the opposite of "refreshing". Good things were that the lobby staff were friendly and helpful. Regarding decor - the draperies and the bed comforter covers are beautifully made of nice material. They kept the gas ... Read more

We spent 6 nights at the Queen Anne with my family, and all of us were very pleased with our experience. The over-the-top decor, particularly in the downstairs parlor, was quirky and charming, and a bit more toned down in the guest rooms. The front-desk staff were always welcoming and helpful. Our rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable, and each had a refrigerator to store drinks and snacks, along with hair dryers, ironing boards, irons, a large flat-screen TV, large closet and a sitti... There was put effort to interior. Customer service was poor. We forgot some expencive cosmetics and also medicin in our room. I contacted hotel at the same day but cosmetics and medicin weren't found. Not nice experience. Breakfast was also poor.

We were looking for a romantic getaway weekend that differed from our more typical 'find a luxury hotel near BART' and while browsing Trip Advisor, the site made a good offer for a room at the Queen Anne. We are very glad we took the offer and stayed there. The hotel is in an area of San Francisco where there are lots of Victorian houses (free Victorian Houses walk by SFCityGuides gathers on the same block). The hotel is clearly of that era. Magnificent ground floor salon and elegant stairw... Read more

Great little hotel in busy city. Close enough to downtown to see everything, far enough out to be able to sleep. Beautiful old Victorian Mansion turned boutique hotel. Has some age issues (but don't we all). Friendly, helpful staff, great location near Japantown, free car service to take you to town in the morning, sherry and home baked cookies in the afternoon. What more could you ask for....a really comfy bed, and they had that too.

We stayed for 2 nights, and had an excellent experience! Here are the highlights: 1. Unique decor--Victorian and over the top, with 2 wonderful fireplaces in the shared space 2. Excellent breakfast (called "Continental", but it included waffles, sausages, hard boiled eggs, bagels/muffins and fruit) 3. Parking was in a safe lot across the street, and about half the price we've paid elsewhere in SF 4. Very comfortable bed We found it to be ideal for us, but I can imagine that some people who woul... Victorian furniture complemented by modern comforts, the hotel was quiet with large rooms, ample towels and a big welcoming lobby with cozy seating areas. The breakfast is entirely adequate, with many choices. Helpful and friendly staff.

The rooms has old and nice furnitures. The rooms are well maintained. The breakfast openings hours are limited. There is a free morning shuttle that must be booked in advance, the shuttle takes you to any adress downtown. 30 min walk to Downtown. The breakfast could be better.

The hotel itself is very charming and has a lot of character, is a little off the beaten path, which was the reason I chose this hotel in the first place- however, though the hotel is historic and old, it could still do with some upkeep, the curtains, bed spread and pillow cases in my room were all old, ripped and pilled. While I understand that having old furniture and old style bedding is part of the ambiance of this kind of hotel, they could still use new or well kept items like this. Once y... Read more

The adage of "you get what you pay for" holds true with the Queen Anne Hotel. My family and I stayed 3 nights there, and were largely underwhelmed. The hotel has a Victorian design, or at least tries too, but it's clear that they must be trying to transition some furniture out. First, the positive. The woman at the front desk (I believe her name was Dao) was WONDERFUL. She was extremely kind and sweet to our daughter, and gave us excellent recommendations and suggestions for our excursions into... Read more

What an excellent property!!! I was so impressed with everything here I can't even tell you!! Well, Everything but the breakfast...not what I would expect from such a nice experience. But...the rooms, lobby, staff...everything else is great and I cannot wait to go back. Every floor has some of the best furnishings I have ever seen.

We arrived at 2am SF time because our plane was late. They had a room ready for us. What a beautiful surprise this hotel was. It's like staying at a relative's house with ornate furniture and an ever running fireplace. Breakfast was big and included. Eggs, rolls, toast, waffles, oatmeal, coffee. An all day coffee and tea bar. Plus Sherry and cookies at 4pm. Many European guests and with good reason. It looks like their hotels. Clean, nice service. What's not to like?

As it was late on a Saturday evening, we were looking for a hotel to spend the night at. Lucky we found this adorable, victorian style hotel to have a good night sleep before we continued the road trip from Vancouver, Canada to San Diego, CA. The hotel it self was very clean, quaint, and cozy. However, after checkout, on our way to the parking lot we saw three cars with the rear window smashed. Someone had broken into my car, and stole my suitcase. I am now aware to not leave anything in the car... Read more

The decor was lovely, especially in the lobby and breakfast areas. I had some of the most relaxing and rejuvenating sleep I've ever had on a vacation here. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel staff were very polite and helpful. We did not try the evening sherry because we were too busy seeing the sights of the city.

The bed was sooooo uncomfortable. The pillows were flat and the mattress was not good. The bed linens were old. There was no air conditioner, but I get it's not really needed in San Fransisco. The staff was great about promptly bringing a fan. I can say that the front desk was exceptional! Dow was so kind and helpful.

I needed a hotel walking distance to Van ness and Geary and found this one on trip advisor. It was well worth the stay. It's old quaint Victorian. Room was clean and quiet. I had no problems. Breakfast was good and the price was right. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, less expensive place to stay.

The hotel was amazing. We stayed on the forth floor so we had the chance to see the entire hotel. It is amazing. The staff were very accommodating and polite. Getting around was easy using uber or left. I highly recommend this hotel for people who enjoy historical buildings.

I called, within the cancellation period, to cancel a reservation. Receptionist told me to do it online, but the software was buggy. Not only did he refuse to do the cancellation over the phone, but he also refused to send me an e-mail confirming that I had called. He said that only a supervisor could send an e-mail, and the supervisor would not be in for two more days. I felt like a was talking to some bureaucrat in East Berlin before they took down the wall. This is a lovely property and has a great ambiance of antiques, architectural history, and lush colors, fabrics, and shapes. The lobby is amazing with small groups of chairs and couches in clusters where groups can chat and play games, or singles can relax and work on laptops. It was an older hotel, and the beds weren't great, but for the price in San Francisco, it was decent. It felt a little stale, not much air flow. The breakfast was good. And they do have a parking lot which I don't think is all that common in the area. They do charge for parking, we stayed 1 night and paid about $23 for parking, don't know if that's a daily rate or what, but the lot is convenient. Staff was nice and friendly, everyone had smiles on their faces. They have DirecTV so lots of chann... Read more

My wife and I stayed in this hotel in March of 2016. The hotel is simply beautiful with lots of antiques everywhere. We stayed in the room with a giant Jacuzzi, which was very nice. While the hotel is not exactly near the waterfront, it is not too far of a walk either. I would recommend this hotel for those who are looking for a romantic weekend getaway, which is what we did.

Hotel located a bit walking distance and areas where nothing really happends. You need consider and Love to walk to reach central city and Union Street, but calme clean area in Japan town. Lovely rooms and great service but for us too long to reach city lite. Environment very different but truly a great experience. Nice beds and big room and very clean. We missed to have access to restaurants nearby and a bit of citylife when staying 6 nights as we did.
