This would have to be the worst Hotel as they call themselves but this is a HOSTEL shared bathrooms and dirty facilities. In the worst dangerous neighbourhood in San fran , you are taking a big risk staying here. We stayed because I saw this on hostels own web site and also on another booking site and reviews were a mixed bag. We had no choice as it was a last minute requirement on a Saturday night . Rooms dirty , beds dirty and other people staying included drug users . The streets around here ... Read more

We chose this place last minute after Frontier cancelled our flight. We saw that it had 3 stars so I was expecting average quality. It was 1 star quality. The rooms were not all numbered so we had to guess which was ours. All of our bed linens had stains. My bed sheet smelled like mildew. My friends had random hairs in it. The heater was broken at it was 50 degrees Fahrenheit outside. There were no private bathrooms you have to use a public shower room and a public toilet room. The shower room w... Read more

I booked this hotel at the very last minute and I admit that it was mistake. The area is super creepy and I was kind of scared when I had to come back to the hotel. The common restroom wasn't always clean so I was also kind of worried when I had to go and you could hear all the noises coming from the street. If you have to pay for accommodation, is worth that you pay a little bit more and you stay in a better area with better conditions.

In a nutshell, I would suggest staying here. The price is better than any other you'll find in the area, the sheets are clean and the folks are nice. Fresh fruit at breakfast :) Yes, the rooms are small, but the hotel is being renovated and you can see the changes and hard work the hotel is putting forth to make it a nice experience There was an issue with the locks on the windows in our first room we did not check beforehand leading to another issue. This issue was professionally dealt with by ... Read more

Yes, this is a dodgy area but the homeless people are harmless. The hotel is old but they are trying to improve things. The breakfast area is great and the coffee is good and I really enjoyed the cinnamon toast. The beds are new and the room is small but comfy. The floors are old carpet and they have shared showers and bathrooms so bring sandals or flip flops. Best deal in town as the other hotels are about 350$ a night.

The hotel itself was ok for the money that we paid. Clean room, some shared showers and toilets were clean too (you need to do little research and possibly use showers+toilets in other floors too). Breakfast was nice. The problem is totally scary neighborhood full of drug addicts and homeless people. Last nigh there was a shooting below our windows. Would never go there with family/kids.

Given the sheer cost of accommodation in San Francisco, this hotel/hostel provides a value for money alternative. I stayed in a private twin bedroom with shared bathroom facilities. The room was exactly as per the advertised images. Ongoing renovations were apparent, and on a whole this was very clean and modern place. The location is excellent in terms of proximity to Market street and Union square, and yes, this property is located on a street which attracts homeless or less desirables BUT ... Read more

Nice hotel, fair breakfast with coffee, milk, bread, jam, butter, fruits, cereals, etc. The location would be wonderful if it wasn't for the homeless on the nearby. In fact, I wasn't disturbed by them, however I must say it isn't pleasant... On the other hand, the staff is excellent, specially Fernando, always eager to help!!!

This hotel is well managed and clean. Hostel Style with shared bathroom and shower. The room was neat and well equipt and the continental breakfast was a nice touch. The neighborhood area can be a little intimidating late at night so be aware.

Stayed 6 nights, chose this as the price of accommodation in San Fran is astronomical and this was within a reasonable price. Checked in and room was very small and two separate beds where as we were a couple. Receptionist was nice enough to show me a couple other rooms and let me pick a nicer one. Was at the front of the hotel with windows over looking Minna St. Yes it is loud and there are lots and lots of homeless. If you can sleep through noise you will be fine. Showers on level 4 were not t... Read more

This is an update to my original review. My third stay here. The hotel has made many improvements to the property. My last two visits, the rooms had new TV's and cable service. There are now microwaves and a small fridge. Additional electrical outlets and the new bed headboard has electric and USB for charging your mobile devices. Good customer service from the reception staff. Susan is terrific. Also, improved security for entering the property. Neighborhood is the same. Street people. Unsavory,... Read more

This is located a 5 minute walk from the city and a 20 minute walk from the bus terminal. We chose a room with no bathroom, which worked for us as they were kept clean. There could be more showers though. The rooms were a good size and looked like they had recently been updated as had the reception area and breakfast area. Rooms have a tv, fridge, microwave and had a small sink in ours. There was also plugs and USB port built in to the headboard. We were there for four nights and didn't receive ... Read more

Centrally located 5 min walk from powell metro station Breakfast included. Looked decent Complementary tea, coffee, juices New furniture Soap and lotion dispensers in bathroom The door of room 224 could be opened an inch while locked. I reckon smart people could open the lock within 10 sec. We got another room however. Shared bathroom not cleaned throughout the 48 hours I stayed there. Smallest room ever, i'd say 80 to 100 cm around the bed. We were two people and four suitcases... Lots of ju... Read more

This place needs better reviews! It's obvious that the new management are working really hard to improve facilities and decoration. Looked like there was just the flooring to change whilst we were there. Clean facilities, if there is a problem just let reception know - all staff are friendly. Really nice breakfast area with backpacker vibe, good basic selection of eats and the drinks available 24hrs is a great touch. Area is full of homeless people but they don't seem to cause trouble amongst ... Read more
