Great property in the middle of everything. Check in was flawless. The room is perfect except for the lack of shelves for storage. The closet itself is huge (they should put a wardrobe in it.) True, I lived out of the suitcase. Also, if you want coffee or tea, you have to go downstairs to get it. Excellent pool and Jacuzzi. Great work out room. No SPA. Location was perfect. Lobby area is over the top beautiful. People working there are ALL nice, especially the concierge. Will definitely ... Read more

We celebrated our grandfathers 85th birthday with this trip and wanted to make it a bit special by taking him to this landmark hotel. In brief, it is a lovely looking hotel and atmosphere, nice rooms, great location, good breakfast, nice personnel but the service could have been better. The concierges were great though. The hotel looks spectacular and entering seeing the lobby and the garden court you will be amazed, because it looks like a European Palace. The check-in was very slow with only... Read more

This grand hotel has been remodeled and updated in certain areas. Service was great, from the front desk to the bellmen to the housekeeping staff; some of the employees have been there over 20+ years. Close to the bus line or easy walking to the shopping areas. Can get a bit pricey if staying during their busy times.

Used to be my "go to " hotel. No more. Although beautiful to look at its lost is luster .The heating system doesn't let you get the room warm. Even after I called twice to complain. Takes a long time for them to answer the phone for room service. And lastly the TV keeps shutting off in the middle of a show and you have to reset On a positive note front desk team VERY friendly. The pool ..fantastic! Complimentary Coffee in the morning

We've been at The Palace Hotel at the end of may. It is in a very good location, five minutes walk from everything. At our arrival Karinna welcomed us in a kind and professional way. The room was clean and big enough. The hallway was suggestive. We'll come back soon. Strongly suggested.

great location, beautiful hotel, great breakfast buffet a bit expensive considering there are NO drawers in the rooms (we booked three, and non had) also on the room on the 5th floor, turndown service was not provided for the first 2 nights, we let the front desk know, and they took care of it (but for 400 a night, don't think we have to have to remind them) also had some amazon,, shipped to the hotel prior to our arrival, they seem to have misplaced it but finally the concierge found it, front ... We were trying to figure out what the underlying issue is with the self-proclaimed 'luxury' Palace Hotel, and it is just that - it is self-proclaimed. Set in a grand hotel shell, this former Sheraton hotel is still a Sheraton Hotel. The rooms are tiny, no place to sit on a rainy day except the bed or desk chair. The doors slam night and day. The food is beyond forgettable- head out the door and eat at one of the hundreds of wonderful San Fran eateries. If you are looking for luxury, stay at the... Read more

The Palace Hotel is a very elegant hotel near Union square where the staff are equally happy seeing your over excited children as they are providing advice on 5 star dining options. The hotel is located a 2 minute walk from the BART station (ideal for an easy commute from the airport) and has a trolley car stop just outside making it ideal for a sightseeing base. Chinatown is also a short walk from the hotel.

We had read about the Palace Hotel and it's magnificent glass ceiling lounge. We visited it just to see this and it was well worth the visit. We sat drinking good wine served by efficient staff and enjoyed the "out of this world" toilets. Worth the visit just for the experience.

The Palace is a beautifully grand old world hotel from the outside and the foyer and public areas of the hotel. The rooms have recently been refurnished in a plush luxurious mix of faux old and contemporary style. They are well appointed and a good size. We had a king room on the 5th overlooking the street at the front of the hotel, I was initially concerned it could be noisy but this was not a problem. The staff were fantastic, check in was seamless and the housekeeping staff did an excellent ... Read more

Wow, the lobby is worth the price of admission. And the location can't be beat. It's an easy walk down to the Embarcadero (go to the Ferry Plaza farmer's market!), bars and restaurants. The Bart and Muni are handy for getting outside the area. There is a CVS close by and the hotel is flanked by a nice wine shop and a Ghirardelli chocolate shop. Sweet! Our room was very nice. Without mention, they checked us into an ADA room, which in some hotels can be like bunking in a cold cement box. Not so ... Read more

Stayed here for a conference for four nights. I am a Platinum SPG member, so take this into consideration. This hotel has a prime location at the heart of the city. BART (subway) is literally outside the door of the hotel and my fiancée and I took it to SFO for our flights for $9 apiece (yes, we are cheap). This hotel is not, however. We had a great room, (though we did not get an upgrade, odd) and check-in was no problem. Our amenity was free breakfasts which were OUTSTANDING. The buffe... Read more

From the moment that I stepped out of the cab, I was impressed by the high level of service and elegance of this hotel. The hotel is centrally located in the heart of San Francisco and is an easy walk to many restaurants, malls, bars and other attractions. Our 10 day stay at this Historic hotel was pretty good. The public areas are quite spectacular, for a new world hotel, and the room was roomy with 11 foot high ceilings and nice modern decoration. Air Conditioning was noisy - as was the minibar which couldn't be switched off. Good bed and linen. However, our room was never turned down, service and food in the bar was slow and medocre, and at breakfast in the atrium don't forget a sweater - it's in the atrium which is stunning, but cold. I cannot praise this hotel enough. The hotel itself is incredibly beautiful and you feel so special just to be staying there. But it's once you meet the people, that's when you realize why this place is five star. Never have I experienced better service than that of Mano on the front desk. I just checked in after having this place recommended. I called to ask them empty the minibar because I don't drink alcohol or soft drinks, so I need it for my healthy juices. The hotel building is beautifully decorated and maintained. The rooms are lovely, as is the swimming pool and gym, although the pool area can be noisy with excited children. Stayed just one quick night for weekend with family from out of state. We had very nice deluxe room (#720). We don't generally stay in 5-star hotels and we're probably not the target market for The Palace, but we got a deal on Hotwire and thought it might be fun.
