Excellent location with quiet and comfortable rooms. From the minute we checked into the hotel we were made to feel that we were genuinely welcomed into their hotel family. All members of the staff are very friendly and nothing was too much hassle for them. Will be coming back to this hotel, many thanks for making our stay an enjoyable one.

I have stayed here several times over the years, but this stay was the best one yet. Tiffany checked us in and helped get our bags out of the car - a real team player. She even called us when our room was ready. Joe helped us up to the room and was very helpful. Our room was very clean, well appointed, comfortable and had a fantastic view. After a very long day of travelling, we slept like babies in an extremely comfortable bed. Can't wait to return.

Stay: 1 night. Location: Fantastic inner city, close to everything - cable car, restaurants, shops. Staff: Attentive and friendly - managed to check in early, facility to check bags and do more shopping prior to late night flight after checking out. Food: Did not partake - restaurants all around. Room: Nice (would stay again).

Hotel is well located 1 min from a tram stop and a couple of blocks from Union square. Staff were helpful and friendly. The bed in our room was the most comfortable we have had in years. We didn't eat in the hotel - too many cafes and restaurants nearby. Overall very happy with this property.

Stayed at The Orchard for 13 nights in May 2016. All the people on staff were very friendly and helpful. They even provided assistance with obtaining city bus details and let us use their PCs in their sister hotel - the Orchard Gardens hotel nearby. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are just what we wanted - roomy and well setup, including a refrigerator/mini-bar. Had a reasonable view also. Loved the chocolates in the lobby. I'm not going to repeat in detail everything other reviews have already stated. The hotel is definitely in a fantastic location. Central to everything in SF, great neighborhood area, and relatively quiet at night on the top floors. Cable car line is literally on the corner and very convenient. Easy walk to China Town, bus tour line stop, union square, etc. Staff was fantastic and very attentive, across the board. We got this hotel as a randomly selected deal hotel. The room had everything we needed, nothing fancy. Bed, TV, Bathroom, Mini Fridge. View was of the building across the street. Would've appreciated a microwave in the room to make popcorn and heat leftovers. Location is good - though it is on a steep hill that we found a little difficult to climb, especially with luggage. Staff is very friendly. No doorman when we first arrived with our luggage, but was there at all other times. Overall, goo... Read more

Nice, cozy, quiet hotel (at least my room at 10th floor on the back side). Everything you need to stay right in the center is Downtown SF. Nice and helpful staff. Quality of breakfast to be improved for the required price...a suggestion: since you are just 10 steps away from the Stockton public parking do not waist 50$+taxes for the valet...you can pay just a half doing it by yourself!

Eco friendly hotel, they said they plant a tree for every review so here I am. We had two rooms for our family and both were good size for San Francisco. Luckily they were both on the street side. Alley side could be darker and I'm not sure I'd like that. I appreciated the turn down service at night. Great restaurants right around the corner. Lovely stay. Valet is steep but compares to all other hotels in the area. If you don't need to have a car don't. Turn own service every night. It's great.

My wife and I stayed at the Orchard Hotel for one Sunday night. we arrived at 6pm for a quick and efficient check-in. We got a great last minute rate through Booking.com. We left immediately for our event and returned late to find our bed turned down. Our room was quiet on the 5th floor with "Traditional" décor a large flat screen TV and nice desk. The bathroom was large and clean with plenty of hot water. The king size bed had high quality sheets and nice pillows. We slept in and checked o... Read more

Pros: - Easy checkin/checkout with reception - Mannerly and friendly bell hop - Location: Heart of the city, close to food, convenient stores, shopping and public transport - Decor: Cozy old school wallpaper and furnishing - Comfortable beds and linens - Wifi: Free and adequate coverage and speed Cons: - Housekeeping: Cleaners were either too early (around 9am) or when they came back it was too late (around 5pm). The replenishing of the toiletries were random. Some days they replaced towels and... Read more

I love that they give donations to Plant a Billion Trees in exchange for Trip Advisor ratings. The planet needs that now more than ever to help combat climate change. Bed was very comfortable and I slept like a rock. Room was spacious. I was given an umbrella when leaving as the bellman said it looked like rain. My shower head broke during my stay and they fixed it right away. Restaurant service was slow and pancakes undercooked. There are no convenient outlets next to the bed for phone or c... Read more

Great staff and very helpful to first time visitors to San Francisco! Location is convenient, especially the cable cars and Chinatown, but on a very safe and clean area. We would stay there again! Walk down Powell to Market Street with a good variety of restaurants and shopping. Walk up Bush to the main gate of Chinatown for a walk through a unique area of the city.

My husband and I frequently overnight in San Francisco and have tried many hotels, mostly near the theater district. We found the Orchard to have everything we require: good location, relatively spacious room (for a city), comfortable bedding, a largish updated bathroom, bathrobes, good toiletries - plus TWO chairs to sit in and TWO suitcase racks! Clearly designed not just for the solo business traveler. We will be back.

We just completed a 3 day stay at the Orchard Hotel. We came on the recommendation of our newly married 26 year old son, which may have been worrisome :) The hotel exceeded our expectations. They offered great value yet didn't skimp on service, staffing, a luxury feel and a were in an excellent location in the Union Square district. We were close to a number of diners and restaurants for breakfast, walking distance to shopping, a short distance from the wharf and a cable car or bus ride elsewh... Read more

Our college brings a group of students on a trek to San Francisco to connect with business partners a couple of times a year. Last year I found The Orchard Hotel and worked with Tommy Fullove to set up a block of rooms at a rate that our students can afford, coupled with planning a networking event held in the evening with catered food and beverages. The experience was smooth and stress-free with Tommy going to bat for me to negotiate rates to stay within our budget, making sure that nothing w... Read more

The Orchard hotel is very conveniently located a few blocks from Union square, and is surprisingly quiet at night given this neighbourhood. The room and bathroom were very spacious, and the bed very comfortable. On the downside, the air in the room smelt musty, which I could not get rid of since the window cannot be opened for fresh air, and the ventilation seems to just recirculate air within the room. The soft furnishings are looking a little dated and in need of refurbishment, and the colo... Read more

From the moment I contacted this hotel about booking a small block of rooms at a desired price point, to the time we said goodbye, all of the people we dealt with at the hotel were friendly, positive, always smiling, and above all - courteous! The bellmen were a delight, the receptionists always welcoming, and overall, I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming to the SF bay area. The location was perfect and the rooms were large with super comfy beds! Didn't have any noise problems at all fo... Read more

I was very satisfied with everything during my stay at Orchard Hotel San Francisco. From the booking/reservation service (Tommy Fullove-Senior Sales Manager-who surprised us with a bottle of wine delivered to our room upon check-in), to the Valet Rep, The Bellman, the Front desk, the restaurant/bar, and the room service delivery person..... These people were all very friendly, gracious, and professional. I was even surprised by a greeting in-person with the Hotel Manager. The room was sparkli... Read more

A lovely hotel, the reception staff, the rooms and a tasty breakfast every day made our staff most enjoyable. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel as it was very central to everything, a short walk to China town and Union Square.

I had a brief overnight stay at the Orchard Hotel before heading to a family wedding nearby. The room was very clean, good TV and stereo systems in room, the staff friendly and hotel is in a great location. I didn't have food in the hotel because I was too jet-lagged to test the menu properly, and so went to the pizza place across the road which was inexpensive and very good... and had breakfast the next day at Roxanne's on the corner (Roxanne's was a decent breakfast, served quickly). The hotel is in a great location, walking distance from most attractions and shopping, our room was quiet and spacious, including a spacious bathroom. Breakfast is included and not just a continental breakfast, you can choose from anything on the menu. Staff were always friendly and helpful. I also loved how eco-friendly this hotel was - refillable shampoo etc, minimal plastic, and other environmentally friendly features.

We chose the Orchard Hotel based on Trip Advisor reviews and the location. It's 2 blocks north of Union Square as well as 2 blocks west of the gate to Chinatown. It's also on the Powell St cable car line from Fisherman's Wharf. All the staff from the front desk to the doormen to the staff in the restaurant provided outstanding service, smiles and greetings, and an excellent experience. It's more of a family-owned, boutique hotel experience than a chain hotel. The room was adequate sized, clean, ... Read more
