My stay here was pleasant from beginning to end. I arrived early, before check in time officially began, but was able to get a room. Service at the front desk was very amiable and accommodating. The room was comfortable and clean and the free Wi-Fi worked seamlessly. I love the fact that this hotel is also a Zipcar location, so that was an added convenience for me on top of all the other convenient things about this location (24 hour Walgreen's across the street, one block away from Chestnut Ave... The hotel was tolerable. A little cramped for two and the door to the bathroom didn't even open all the way (the sink got in the way). But hey...we were there to explore San Francisco so weren't planning on being in the room much. We checked in on Friday night and on Saturday, before heading out to dinner we were relaxing in the room for a bit. I was unclothed and laying in bed and my husband was reading when all of the sudden, another couple used their key card and walked in! They had just... Read more

Overall about what we expected; clean, roomy and bathroom recently updated. Door lock/key system needs replacing. Website says "english" breakfast, staff says continental but it was less than that. Staff friendly and helpful.

2 stars in the European sense of consistency, cleanliness for a motel. Not a full service hotel and priced accordingly. Towards the Golden Gate Bridge bridge end of Lombard Street, good beds, free parking (space available so park early if property is full). Adequate complimentary continental breakfast (though quite crowded). I've stayed several times. When the "quieter" side of the hotel is available front desk has been good about accommodating my request. In a very expensive city where ... Read more

Been a difficult hotel to review. The location was good, and the person who initially checked us in very helpful ?? provided a map. However, the room itself was extremely dusty, small in serious need of an upgrade and loud with passing traffic. Would not recommend this hotel.. We did not complain as we knew no other rooms were available, and we would just be using the room to sleep! Also shower pressure was poor, and the coffee machine did not work. One had two nights in San Fran and wanted ... Read more

This motel is great for the price. It's a budget motel so don't expect anything fancy. It's clean and the wifi is great. Staff are friendly (aside from one member who was a little rude). The location is great - not far from the Golden Gate Bridge. However because it is located on a busy road, the noise of the traffic going by can be a little annoying. That said there's not really much the motel can do about this and it's a quiet motel in terms of guest noise etc. Breakfast time is always busy. Y... Read more

My family stayed there for 4 nights. The staff was very helpful and when I asked for a room off the street, he was able to make it happen. It was a clean, comfortable room. No frills, but we spent a lot of time in the city so it wasn't an issue. We had trouble with hot water one night, and it was fixed. Breakfast is basically a toaster bar. We brought our own food. My kids liked it. Coffee isn't great either, but drinkable. Great location on Lombard street.

Floor/carpet is dirty; wish there was laundry on site; noisy if you are on Lombard side; quiet if you aren't; breakfast is okay-good fresh fruit, oatmeal, toast and cereal. Went out and came back at 9 pm-nowhere to park. We parked a few blocks over in a residential neighborhood. Had to move car by 10 am. Friendly service. No bathtub for kids. Refrigerator in room.

La Luna is right on Hwy 101 the main route from Golden Gate south through San Francisco so if you want a peaceful nights sleep this is not the place for you. If you are driving it is easy to find though and gives easy access in and out of the city. It is about 1 km from the lovely Marina District and a short walk takes you to the waterfront with good views of the Golden Gate. There are some gorgeous residential streets to wander through and the beautiful Palace of Fine Arts. One block below o... Read more
