The hotel is very comfortable, and the staff very helpful. It is close to the Golden Gate Bridge but only a short cab/uber ride every where else. The rooms were very spacious but definitely ask for a room away from the street as it can get quite loud.

We really enjoyed our stay at La Luna Inn. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. My only recommendation would be to add some type air freshener or perhaps a plug in as our room smelled musty. And also update the A/C unit. Sadly ours was on its last leg. Overall I would definitely recommend La Luna Inn to family and friends. We'll be back! Marc

Stayed at La Luna in SF for a couple of nights, comfortable beds good central location and the room had its own shower room which is hard to find in a budget hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly i would recommend to travellers on a budget.

We stayed here for 4 nights and found the room very spacious and clean and it was nice to get a bit of breakfast, even just toast and coffee. The main problem with this motel is that it is very noisy, due to its location. On the flip side, the location was great for going out. There are plenty of bars and restaurants within a 5min walk on Chestnut St. And it is on good public transport routes, which was perfect for going along to the piers or downtown.

Desk attendant was very nice. Room 205 (I think)was clean and roomy enough for myself, 2 teens and 3 very large suit cases as well as backpacks and other items. Step in shower (no tub/seat) with low water pressure but gets the job done with extra hair rinsing time of course. Breakfast was minimal with bread to toast, plain Cheerios, butter, jelly, and flavored oatmeal packets for use with hot water from coffee machine. Apple, orange juices, coffee and milk were also available. Parking was compac... Read more

I did not like the stay at this hotel that much. The room was very dark en old. On the floor were marks from an iron... I don't know how they came there. The lamps were broken and the doors were not that clean. The breakfast was poor, you only had choice between brown bread and Raisin bread. I would not go here another time.

I read the Trip Advisor reviews and I knew the hotel would be loud but I seriously underestimated how LOUD it would be. I can usually sleep through just about anything but this was shockingly loud. I could hear everything, people coughing in the parking lot, the lobby door opening and closing. The bed had a major indentation and I could feel the springs. The shower was tiny. It is a cute hotel but beware that in this situation boutique = rundown. Minimal parking despite the parking under s... Read more

We booked this hotel not totally knowing what we were going to get - it's safe to say that when you get a great deal on a hotel you always wonder just what you are going to get. La Luna was a great option for not a lot of money, and was well located for easy access to touristy things. Bus stops and transit are readily available and parking is great and safe. We loved being able to walk down a block or so and having access to some great shops and even better restaurants. We've recommended this h... Read more

A great little motel that seems to attract a lot of international visitors. Really close to Golden Gate Bridge and some good eats nearby, including trendy bakeries and coffee shops. Room was spacious and clean and the balcony was a nice touch.

We had an excellent stay in La Luna Inn, the rooms were lovely, clean and spacious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location of the motel is excellent, it is on Lombard Street which is very close to the Golden Gate Bridge and it is about a 45 minute walk from Pier 39. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Loved our stay here, bed was so comfortable. The night time receptionist was really helpful with parking and even helped us out when we'd lost a padlock key! You can easily catch buses from nearby stops to all the places you need to go and we were able to navigate the main sights with the map provided by the hotel. A block away there's shops and restaurants with boutiques and chains. Breakfast was very basic and once the one loaf of fruit bread had run out there was just plain bread and grape ja... Read more

We stayed here for 3 nights in May before heading to LA. The receptionist man (cannot remember his name sorry!) was wonderful! From the moment we arrived her was super helpful giving us maps, brochures and telling us little places to go and things to see and do. We booked a great Bus tour through him and it was awesome! Got to really see San Fran! The room itself needs a little sprucing up as carpet was a bit stained and old and the shower was only warmish but everything else was great! We woul... Read more

I read other reviews, but before paying more than double the price, give this place a shot. Pleasant staff, tour buses pick you up at the hotel. A bit run down but definitely worthwhile, very close to lots of food & shopping. Breakfast wasn't interesting at all.

Our room was good but was at back of hotel which was quieter, our friends had room at front and there was a lot of street noise. The walls are quite thin in this hotel. It was a short bus ride down to Fishermans wharf so quite a good location . Is quite expensive for what it is, but San franvpcisco accomodation is expensive everywhere we found.

My friend and I stayed in the Deluxe Room with two queen beds for one night. We enjoyed San Francisco so much we decided to stay another night in the same comfortable room. La Luna is perfect for the On-the-go traveler. This establishment meets the 5 point criteria I base my lodging selection on: 1. Reasonable Price 2. (What I considered) Safe Location- (Cow Hollow) We went out at night and didn't see very many homeless people roaming the streets. 3. Free Parking- a must, when wanting to... Read more

Close to golden gate bridge. Clean room. Easy check in. Breakfast is very basic but can get you on the way quickly. Not the best neighborhood but ok just lock car doors and keep all valuables out of sight.

Lovely white clean sheets! And smelt like bleach when I walked it so you know it was cleaned! Great location and wifi was really good and free Very happy for the price I paid - especially compared to the other places for the price I paid this was the best

An upscale want-to-be but just doesn't make it except for the price. Has elevator. All rooms opened to outside walkways but the walls were dirty with grime. We were given a room upstairs (supposedly nicer). The floor creaked and the air conditioner did not work at all. They gave us a fan but indicated that they were awear that the air didnt work. Apparently other rooms had also reported problems. They moved all our stuff the next day to a new room while we were sight seeing. Air worked floor... Read more

A very problematic check in- (due to circumstances and other parties who can write their own reviews). The room: clean and comfortable- though quite a bit of traffic noise from outside. Lombard is a busy busy thoroughfare that shoots folks straight off the GG Bridge into The City. Having said this, the location is excellent for walking to/ from the Marina, Presidio, Russian Hill , even North Beach if you are up for it. If you're not a walker, there are several Muni lines running to all areas. I... Read more

Simple, comfortable motel on a very busy noisy road. Room very simple, comfortable beds, cleaned daily. Not very nice smell from the bathroom and toilets, poor water pressure but hot water. Good for marina district and close to good restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Far from the centre and you either need to take busses or use uber. Staff is friendly and helpful. We didn't bother with breakfast as there was nothing much to eat, one choice of cereal, toast, jam, coffee, orange juice. Not a lot... Read more

Hotel is clean, comfortable and cheap and does exactly what it says on the tin. The rooms are cleaned regularly, the breakfast basic and the staff consistently friendly and approachable. The location isn't fantastic depending on your physical requirements. We stayed for four days and walked to fisherman's wharf on two of them. The walk is safe and trouble free and takes around 45 minutes. With regards to regular travel, we used taxi service uber to get around and the local bus once or twice ... Read more

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at La Luna and had a great trip. The room was very clean and the staff was super friendly. The GM, Mike, was very accommodating and offered great advice when asked about where to go in SF during a trip. We'll definitely return!

Not a bad place. A good area, if a little away from the tourist spots. Breakfast was good, and the room clean. The price was good. Only a one night stay, but it was quite suitable for that. Any longer and I would stay elsewhere.

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay and do not mind dirty carpeting, then you may be okay with this place. The front desk is super nice and friendly, but the carpet in our room was really gross, the painting was chipped, the bathroom was dark and the road noise was audible from our room in the back.

We were really disappointed with this place. I booked it so long ago along with about 15 other places as we are in USA for a month so I can't quite recall but I think San Francisco accommodation was quite expensive overall and this was priced slightly above budget prices so perhaps for the money it is all we should expect. We stayed for 3 nights. I feel that for one night it may have possibly been ok but I do wish we had stayed elsewhere seeing as it was 3 nights. The WIFI was very good and so... Read more

We stayed at La Luna in July 2016 for a week, parked our rental in the carport, and it was broken into (nothing was taken, but what a hassle to exchange it with the rental company). There were two other vehicles with smashed windows while we were there that week, one of them was parked right next to the front desk reception area. Don't know if those incidents were isolated or not, but after staying at La Luna in 2007, and going back this year - nothing has been updated since our stay in 2007, an... Read more
