Careful if you are visiting during summer, there are very few rooms with air conditioning. There is no vent elation in the bathroom so it can get very hot very quickly. No room service or kitchen to even deliver bottles of water to the rooms. Would be best if you are young and looking for something that is a slight improvement on a backpackers.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and I had everything I needed. Located close to theaters, the coast and restaurants. A short walk from the BART train station which is an easy route in from SF airport. I would definitely go there again.

We enjoyed a long weekend at the King George Hotel and would absolutely choose to stay here again. It was very close to the BART and also close to the trolley turnaround area. The hotel is in a busy area and has plenty of shopping nearby. The room was clean and spacious and I had no complaints about noise from outside. Overall great stay!

This hotel is in a great location. It is near the financial district, union park, Market Street, and Powell Street. We even walked to China Town which wasn't too bad. The people at the front desk were very nice and very helpful. When we wanted to do some site seeing the day we left the hotel kept our bags in a safe room while we toured the city. The room and bathroom were very small but it is to be expected in an older building. The room and bathroom were updated and very clean. I would r... Read more

I arrived in the afternoon and got a huge king-size bed with a window to an alley (so no view). However the climate was good and the bed was comfortable . We had one hickup and that was that my travel agency forgot to pay. So they took the money from my credit card instead and I was later reinbursed by them without any hassle. They were also quite helpful with weighing my luggage and pointing out nearby good restaurants..

This hotel was reasonably priced and right by Union square so very handy to everything, because of the location it could get noisey at night but small price tp pay for location. The hotel itself was clean and tidy and the staff friendly and helpful.

Extremely nice and helpful staff, along with clean rooms. Amenities are somewhat lacking, but location resolves the need for much more. Be aware some (unsure if all) rooms have adjoining rooms separated only by a flimsy door, and if you end up w/ terrible neighbors as loud and disruptive as we did, you'll find the experience awful and you'll wish you were somewhere else as we did. Do not get a room that has an adjoining room capability in our opinion because of our bad experience. City noise is ... Read more

Really enjoyed our stay here, was reasonably priced in comparison to other near by hotels, decent size room and bathroom which were cleaned and maintained daily, in a good location for getting out and about and seeing the sights, plenty of nice bars and restaurants nearby, would certainly stay in the hotel again.

Great stay spent here with family for after the holidays. Staff were great. Rooms comfortable. Good was lovely. It gave a lovely location to explore SF. My husband and I treated our family to a holiday in SF and they all can't wait to return next year again.

This is a very nice hotel at a great place. The rooms are a little small in size, and so are the bathrooms. But everything is very neat and clean. The staff is very very helpful. They have a desk with computers and a printer also so that you can check in online and print your boarding passes. It is situated in the heart of the city with everything nearby and all the transport also to take you wherever you want. On June 18th, I left my kindle and power convertor in my room and advised the hotel within the hour of this occurrence. The initial response looked really positive. There would be no problem in returning my goods- I only needed to supply a credit card authorisation, a US phone number and address and the property would be sent to me. Sadly this hasn't occurred. Six follow up phone calls made by me and at least 2 emails this week alone- none of which were acknowledged by the hotel, have left me in... Read more

Was a great place to stay for 3 nights in San Francisco. The bed was amazingly comfortable, and the room was a good size. If you love shopping like me it's in a great location for Union Square, just around the corner. The only down side to this hotel was the shower pressure!! I struggles to wash my hair. But other than that was lovely!

The room was small and nothing really special, but the hotel staff was very nice and the hotel was in a great location! We chose not to do the valet parking. There is a parking deck across the street that was very easy to access and pay for. There are many shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Stayed for 4 days in a Superior Queen at the top floor. Quite small but very comfortable enough for 1-2 persons, although bath may be a bit too small for people taller than 6ft. Plenty of storage spaces and drawers in the room, and services are available right at your fingertips using a bedside tablet. Location is unparalleled, situated right beside union square and a couple of blocks away from Powell station where you can shuffle to/from the airport. Internet is moderately fast, but could be te... The King George Hotel, San Francisco is located one block from Union Square. It is near at least a dozen other hotels, many of which are internationally known and I stayed in quite a few of them. The George beats them all for price, standard of accommodation and friendly personal service. Our room was ideal for my wife and me. We have stayed here before and will do so again in the future. Be sure to sit and enjoy the ambience of Winston's bar while you are there.

I've stayed at King George for business several times over the last 5 years and it gets better all the time. Great location, convenient to Union Square, Powell St. Cable car line, Moscone Center and Market Street shopping. The rooms have been redecorated and the beds are super comfortable. The staff is always very helpful. This is my favorite place to stay in San Francisco.

This hotel is lovely. It has an interesting history being built for the world trade exhibition in 1910 ish. They have refurbished to a high quality reminiscent of that period. Reception really helpful and bar staff welcoming at end of day. We knew we were on fringes of Tenderloin area but surprised at drunks and destitute hanging around the area. It made us cautious of coming back after dark. No direct approaches but just the worry.Probably naive of us.

Stayed with two friends in a double room in late June and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room felt quite small because there were three of us and only two double beds. We felt like we were in the land of giants because the beds were so high, as was the sink in the bathroom. The bathroom was quite tight but everything worked and was clean and well presented. Despite the size, we were happy with our room, the hotel overall and the service we were given. It's in a brilliant location and I'll def... Read more

King George Hotel in San Francisco is an average 3 star hotel in the Union Square area - the hotel is fine, and seemed generally clean enough, it is perhaps a bit tatty and worn in parts, but most of the bedroom area was pretty modern. The bed was far too high off the ground on some curious box with lights underneath it. I appreciated a huge number of charging ports throughout the room, and the tablet to order things was good - although I set an alarm on it for the following morning which didn't... Read more

King George Hotel is a nice conveniently located hotel in San Francisco. The staff are extremely helpful, especially Franz. I will definitely stay at the King George again especially when visiting the San Francisco Bay area.

(Double run of the house room) My partner and I stayed at the King George hotel for 3 nights, I can agree with a few of the other reviews posted on here, the rooms were tiny, I could hardly get in and out of the shower and I'm hardly a big guy, we waited on the lift every time we left our floor which was the 8th level, the room was noisey from out side noises at night (that maybe a San Fran thing though) there's no fridge to store a drink or any cold food in the room. We stayed at this hotel during our family trip to SF. Very cute older hotel but everything was updated. Centrally located to pretty much everything we wanted to see and do while in town. The staff was friendly and helpful. Elevator was small and you had to wait a while for it but really wasn't a big deal.

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel for a short break. The location is great, just off Union square, very close to all public transport links. Only a 5 minute walk to a Bart stop direct to SFO airport. The staff on reception were very friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing was to much trouble. Rooms are small but adequate, clean and have all amenities you need. Great free wifi. I would definitely stay again.

I stayed here for 4 nights and found the hotel staff very friendly and helpful especially the concierge service! The hotel is nice it's old fashioned with one small spiral staircase and one extremely slow elevator. I had read the reviews about the wifi and asked for a room where it worked, I was on the fifth floor and had no problems with it. Rooms are small but clean. Stayed for 3 nights in mid August. Booked two rooms, one normal & one superior. Slightly odd that the normal room was more spacious than the superior room. The difference being the size of the bed. I wouldn't bother paying more for it. Bathroom in the Superior room was a tight squeeze to get in and out of the shower so wouldn't recommend for elderly or those with mobility issues. Mixed feelings about this place. The room was ok. Bed was very high, room was a bit tired but very clean. The main problems are the lift, One small lift for this size hotel is far from ideal but can't see how they can rectify, the coffee machines in the room and choice of tea/ coffee is very poor.

I stayed at King George Hotel for 6 nights and found wi-fi signals were too unstalbe to access the internet. I also got many bites by mites and could not sleep for a couple days. Although I asked the housekeepr to exchange the sheet, it did not work. On the last day, I asked an wake-up call but there was no call. $250 per night was too expensive for this service.

Nice hotel in a good location just around the corner from Union Square, two good diners next door to the hotel the only draw back to this though is that they can be a bit noisy in the early hours , but I would add that this is not the fault of the hotel. So I would recommend some ear plugs which did the trick for me. Found the staff very pleasant and very helpful when requiring any information. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

location: Very nice location in Union Square, easy to walk from powell/market street and from the bart station. The only problem is if you come back late at night, the hotel is surrounded in the neighbor by homeless people. A bit scare past midnight to walk in the area. Rooms were clean and well appointed. Service: Check-in was done in a professional way but getting room service was another story. I ordered breakfast two times and both times I didn't get it after an hour as they were 'busy'..... You can't beat the location! Especially for dining options and proximity to shopping! The room was small; but we'll take boutique-style properties over the big corp hotels any day. Pillows were on the cheap side. But the bed was really comfortable. The King George has personality! The Valet parking attendant on Saturday night was no where to be found; hence, the 4-star rating vs 5. So, as many of the other reviews say, the location is great. With Union square not even the laziest person will consider needing any taxi. Except for the shopping around Union Square you are also close to the cable cars on Powell, close to some of the hills and fairly close to the financial district or Moscone conference center. Also, if you arrive to the airport the hotel is just a few blocks away from the BART station (airport train). However, even though its as much city center as it can be, ... Read more
