This is a newer generation hotel in the burgeoning south-of-market scene, near the Metreon cinema and the MOMA, but a little less convenient than some hotels in terms of access to subway and BART. A good place if you're at the Moscone center for a convention. On higher floors a nice view (unusual for hilly SF). Elegant and well maintained. Internet for about $15 a day, a fleet of town cars to lure you away from taxis and ubers (I generally pass, it feels like a racket).

I have been looking for a nice place to stay close to AT&T park. I have definitely found it. This place is super nice with very nice rooms and a fun little bar. Only down side is not a super good selection of quality restaurants close by. Well I didn't find any on this trip but maybe next time.

Stayed here last weekend for two nights. Property is very modern and all of the staff is professional and friendly. Rooms are very nice and I am glad I picked this IC over the Mark Hopkins one. Rooms had a pretty good view of the bay. This property is definitely more for the younger crowd. Was upgraded based on my Ambassador status and offered access to the IC Club for $50/night which I accepted for the last night. The IC Club isn't as elaborate as club lounges I've been to in Asia but it was ve... Read more

Normally I likely couldn't afford a hotel this expensive, but had a group discount for an event. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and the highlight of the hotel (along with the view). Was close enough to the Powell BART station to easily walk with a carry-on bag.

Overall it was a great stay - rooms were large and airy, staff was friendly and helpful and the bed was comfortable. Knocked a star off for very low water pressure and mixed cleanliness. At the end of the day, hotel rooms are used for sleeping, showering and at times, working. room - spacious and relatively quiet - I faced bloomies on a low teen floor cleanliness - overall, it was okay, but found a small dead bug in the closet. decided not to put anything in there. bed - comfortable and medium... Had to move hotels during my conference. Was at Marriott Marquis then moved to this one for 1 night. I'd say this hotel has slightly nicer rooms, but the workout area was not as big or nice. All of the treadmills were full at 7 am in Saturday morning. Check in took a little longer than I'd prefer, but was not too long. It is also a little farther walk to BART, China town, etc.

There was a sense of welcome from every staff member, this hotel had a friendly and hospitable atmosphere from the minute you got there. Rooms were tasteful and well equipped. Breakfast was most enjoyable and the service polished. As others have noted the location is very good, next to the convention centre and a short walk from most key attractions. We were on a lower floor and the sounds of the city were evident, sirens from a nearby fire station, people yelling on the street at night, etc I w... Read more

Positives: This bed was so comfortable! One of the best beds I have stayed in at any hotel. Huge bed too. Great quality slippers provided. Negatives: I personally didn't like the shower because the water was minimal and the way it sprayed was not any good. Internet (wifi) is not complimentary.

The best thing they have is Nelson the concierge, he is part of the Les Clefs d??Or. Every single recommendation he made was absolutely wonderful. There is a Target in the next corner which has a supermarket so that was very handy. I get regular pedis and massages, and for the first time I took advantage of one of those groupon deals - $110 total at the I Spa for both services. Looking at the regular price list, they charge $130 for a massage. To me, even in a hotel, that's crazy. They also charge $65 for a basic pedi. It's a little better than the standard pedi you get in Noe Valley that costs $20 but a little pricey if you ask me. I stay at this hotel regularly, although I am not an IHG loyalist. I specifically liked this property. However, on a recent visit I requested assistance with an iPhone charger and was met with bewilderment. This is a basic request at any hotel, and I was willing to purchase but was told they could not provide me with one, and could not recommend a solution until the next morning despite this being San Francisco and presumably there are many 24 hour stores here. I'll start with the negative side of this hotel, then finish with all the positive sides. For starters, the rooms are very small. There's barely any space to move around. Everyone says the location is great, but when you get here it doesn't look like the neighborhood I would want to walk around at night, especially as a female. It is close to everything if you drive. This relatively new hotel ( 8 years) is a great base from which to explore SF. From here, I was able to walk to the Castro, and to walk to Fishermans Wharf with little difficulty. In fact, it was, if one wanted to go further afield, close to BART, MUNI and any number of buses. The staff was flawless in their service, and the upper floor corner room looking west & north afforded spectacular views.

Stayed at the hotel 19-21 of August 2016, on the 9th floor. The room looked ok and had plenty of fresh towels every day. On Saturday, after just leaving the room returned back to grab a jacket, and... found a cleaning crew member going through the drawers! (sure this is not a cleaning protocol while guests are still checked-in) Later that night found out that the bed linens were not even straightened under the comforter, BUT did realize a piece of clothing was gone from the room. Very-very disap... Read more

This hotel is great, it has nice beds, nice and clean bathrooms, excellent fitness center with pool, which was very helpful for my training. The only big issue was the parking, let me say that San Francisco has a big problem to find parking spaces and when you find one it is EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE and this hotel even for guests is VERY, VERY EXPENSIVE. The good thing though was that there is a big parking garage behind the hotel for half the price. Also, be careful with the tiny fridge, if you even... Read more

Stayed here for a conference at Moscone, so just next door. Also Market street just around the corner. Ask for a room on higher floor or towards 5th street to get a proper view. Gym did not look that inspiring, so I skipped it. There was a pool long enough for a bit of exercise, and a hot tub to warm up next to it. The terrace area was not furnished or decorated, so it was quite uninviting. the buffet breakfast was very good (and expensive) and staff in restaurant very attentive. All in all, a ... Read more

I stayed at this hotel for a conference and I must say it is one of the best hotels I have ever visited. My room was spacious and everything was clean. I love the pillows the most and the bed was great as well. The hotel's amenities made for a great conference with large conference halls and spacious doors for easy access. Hallidie Plaza is just 10 mins away on foot where you can hop on a tram and explore the city. Westfield Mall is also close by. Directly in front of the hotel is the Burlingto... Read more

Great location for conference at Moscone Center. Room was lovely and extremely comfortable and great city views from 22nd floor room. Very friendly staff. Workout facilty excellent with yoga video available. Sauna and pool available. Only drawback is that there is no quick grab and go or coffee bar. Enjoy the Grapa bar!

On the plus side, both the room and bathroom were spacious. I also liked the long ledge along the window in both rooms to put belongings. Bed was comfortable. If you are going to the Moscone Center, it's an ideal location. However, nightlife is lacking in this area. Service was minimal as was lobby area and decor, in general. I get that it's a downtown location in a busy city, but for the price, one expects more luxury and welcome from staff.

I used IHG points to stay at this hotel an then paid $30 per night for an upgraded room upon arrival. The room was palatial, very nicely furnished and equipped and at least 25 feet of massive windows from the bathroom to the other side of the room, offering a grand view of San Francisco to the bay. We tried the restaurant on site, which surprisingly offered one of the best meals on our 2 week plus trip. After perusing and researching nearly every hotel in San Francisco, I chose the Mark Hopkins Intercontinental for a special occasion ( my birthday) and moreso , my maiden voyage to the left coast to visit my son, who moved recently to the a Oakland area. Admittedly, I had previously booked a room across the street at the other high end hotel, but when I compared the benefits of the IHG club to the benefits of the United Airlines luxury hotel class, the choice was clear & easy. This was my second time staying at this hotel and it was once again amazing. At check in Kae was able to give us options for the rooms we wanted and we ended up getting a beautiful king room with amazing views of the city. After we checked in we asked for extra towels and a rollaway bed and they were in our room within 10 minutes. Checkout was a breeze with no problems and I love the fact that members get free internet. Definitely will stay at this hotel every time I travel to San Francisco.

Stayed in San Francisco for 4 nights with my wife while on vacation in California in fall 2016. Hotel is in quite a good location. We were coming from SFO, and we took the Bart to Powell St station and from there the hotel is about 4 blocks. The hotel lobby looks modern and is understated. Check in was very quick and efficient. I am a platinum ambassador member and i was told that my room was upgraded so we were on the top floor, floor 34. Our room was nice- it was average size but the view ou... Read more

InterContiental San Francisco was excellent. What I enjoyed the most is always seeing the concierge and front desk staff smiling and looking as if they really enjoy their jobs. Not a single frown!. Which made them extremely approachable to ask questions of the area, or a restaurant recommendation. The lobby areas and hallways of the hotel were kept extremely clean. Housekeeping staff was on the ball and kept my room in A+ shape. The only downside was my bed was just not comfortable. Just felt... Read more

I will keep it brief: Pros: - Great location - within a few blocks away from downtown union square - Michelin Star restaurant "Luce" on-site - Friendly Staff - Near Moscone Center ( if oyu are here for conference) Cons: - Average room for the price - Can be seedy if you walk in the wrong direction

This is a modern hotel and the rooms are well appointed and very clean. I was upgraded to junior suite and the room was large and very well laid out. The bed was very comfortable and the pillow selection was very satisfying. I used the club room for breakfast and afternoon tea. The club has access to an outdoor area. Stayed at the InterContinental San Francisco twice last month, and I enjoyed both of my stays. This hotel is next to the Moscone Center, and one block away from Westfield's Center. From there, you could find the Cable Car turn, and Union Square is about 10 minutes away. There are so many shops and restaurants around the hotel, and the Luce restaurant inside the hotel is very nice. There's also a Whole Foods store about two blocks away. We stayed here during our first visit to San Francisco and it was great. The location was good, close to the shopping area. The room was very clean and smart but we kept away from the mini bar as it was expensive. The staff were great and willing to give advice, when asked, about where to go and how to travel around the city.

Exactly what I would expect from an Intercontinental hotel. I've had nothing but great service, a beautiful hotel, excellent drinks in the bar and the rooms are very comfortable and stylish. It is also the largest tv I've ever had in a hotel room and it made for great football watching of my home team! They even sent up a special happy birthday dessert I had ordered for my Dad and he said it was amazing!

Within 10 minutes of entering my room, my throat started itching, eyes became itchy, and my nose started to run. It felt just like when I am around cats or dogs. Sure enough, this turned out to be a "pet friendly" hotel. I asked to be moved to a pet free room. They said they didn't have any pet free rooms. Pets are allowed in every room in their hotel. The breakfast here is great, and so was the food a Luce restaurant. The room was big but average. We were on the 30th floor and could still here all the traffic. The location of this hotel is not the best. You do not want to walk outside after dark. Due to the location of this hotel we will not stay here again.

If you want easy access to the majority of San Francisco's main attractions, this hotel is in the perfect location for you. Excellent for a weekend getaway of shopping and relaxation, the main shopping center is just around the block. If you feel like winding down at the end of the day, two of the major SF movie theaters are less than a five minute walk away. There are tons of restaurants within a five minute walk, as well as the famous Union Square (which is probably a 7 minute walk).

Yes, it's near union square. But when I arrived, I was surprised by the surroundings. It looks like not in the downtown, it's in a dump area. Also, the taxi driver warned me not to go out late at night! No free wifi is provided is a stupid strategy for business traveler. Breakfast is expensive! The room is clean and tidy. Amenities are good. Check in is quite slow!

Good hotel next door to Moscone Center - my third stay at this hotel. Rooms are attractive if a bit generic. The lobby bar is a good place to meet with colleagues. It's not in the most appealing part of town, but is convenient to a number of attractions besides the Moscone and to some restaurants and shopping. It's a good hotel for business, but I don't know that I would choose it if I was vacationing.

I stayed at the Intercontinental for a quick trip to SF. It's a nice property just a few blocks off of the Market Street area. Conveniently two blocks to the BART station so easy access from SFO. It's a little faceless from the outside - looks more like an office building than a hotel. Inside it's modern and tasteful. Rooms are average size but, very comfortable. Concierge and front desk were very helpful with suggestions. I would consider staying here again in the future.
