My room on the 3rd floor was nice. Because of the steep drop in elevation on Nob Hill it felt like a higher room and there was no issue with street noise. The room was spacious and well done- bed was terrific. The lobby was staffed 100% of the time and there seemed to be doormen happy to assist anytime of day or night. If I needed to visit that part of SF again I would consider this property.

My wife and I stayed here a couple of weeks ago while on business. When we arrived we were impressed by the hotels classic exterior, and its location. We were met by the valet who was over the top nice, professional, and informative. Before we could blink our eyes our luggage was removed from our car and we were escorted to the front desk so we could check in. I will tell you all of the hotel staff are professional, friendly, and willing to meet all of your needs. We checked into our classic kin... Read more

Spectacular views, WWII history / nostalgia, excellent specialty cocktails, and a wonderful Sunday brunch. It's not as "dress up" as it was years ago, but the Top of the Mark is always a favorite stop on our trips to San Franscisco.

This is a very nice high end hotel with a good location and great staff. This was a last minute reservation after arriving from the Far East. This InterContinental is equal in quality and service with others of this name. Helpful and well trained staff along with nice classical rooms with modern day conveniences make this an ideal business stay hotel.

What an amazing location atop nob hill with incredible views! My room was spacious and comfortable. The staff members were friendly and accommodating. I was given an upgrade for a modest fee and had a room on a high floor with lots of light and a view of the bay. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The only negative is that the whole place needs a little re-fresher as some of it appears dated and a bit worn. The other thing is that there is a wifi fee which in this day and age is unacceptable... Read more

We got a good rate through Priceline. When we arrived at the hotel we upgraded to a King room for $20 extra a night. Our room was spacious (as was the bathroom) and we had a fabulous view. Friends of ours stayed in a double room and their bathroom was smaller than ours, but I didn't think it was unreasonably small for a big city. I've seen smaller. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. I think this is one of the best locations for someone visiting SF for pleasure. The ... Read more

The location it's my favorite for staying in San Francisco. The architecture of the building is very classy. It has potential to be amazing if they spend a lot refurbishing it. It feels very used, the smell isn't that good, the bathroom is not that nice and the shower doesn't have enough water pressure. The gym is very bad in general. For weight lifting you just have some dumbbells, is not that kind of gym you like to spent time, it' just for a fast workout and go. From the outside it looks like... Read more

We were extremely impressed with our four night stay here and I am very difficult to please when it comes to hotel rooms. We had requested a room away from the elevators at the back of the hotel and this is what we got, on Floor 6. I've always wanted to stay at the Mark, particularly because of its history and location. I had that opportunity last week. It met my expectations, but I realized the downside of a Nob Hill location. First, my hotel room was ready at noon when I arrived from the East Coast, so that was an immense plus. I had a corner room facing east and south. Some aspects of this hotel were perfect. The concierge for example was one of the best I have met in a long time and the bar man at the signature top floor bar was another sensational team member if you could deal with the old school waiting process to get in there. There were a few challenges in the service that were recoverable but annoying. The Hotel itself is a beautiful old building but it is beginning to look tired. I'd recommend a trip to the bar in the Fairmont opposite which has that whole jungle Tiki thing going on. A couple of the rowing machines were broken in the fitness centre. I stayed at Mark Hopkins for a conference, and wanted to stay further away from the Moscone center to enjoy the city. The area is not touristy, but steps away from all the attractions. The hotel is historic, so rooms are small, and the bathrooms are even smaller. But the beds are comfortable, and service is great. I highly recommend it. The cable cars stop right by the hotel, buy a cable car pass, and travel up and down the hill in-style. Munimobile app is the way to go.

Going uphill even one block is really challenging. It is also windy in the location. Rooms are spacious but the air conditioning system is uneven. Bathrooms are large. In summay, the hotel is a great place to stay at least once. Not the most practical location but worth the sacrifice.

The Hotel is at the top of Nob Hill and I believe 20 floors high. Our grandchildren loved the 3 cable car lines running near by. We love to walk and were able to walk to Chinatown and even Union Square. We had a suite and were pleased with it. We enjoyed the beautiful townhouses on Hyde Street. Hands-down, my favorite SF hotel. Unrivaled comfort, service, and spectacular views. The staff bends over backwards to satisfy every whim. I unabashedly love this place. Luxurious bedding, comfortable large bathrooms, and powerful climate control. Charming neighborhood. Yes, it's at the top of Nob Hill, but that's what Cable Cars and Uber are for. This place is a rare treat. A historic building with fully modern amenities.

I love staying at the Mark, not least due to its location at the top of Nob Hill. I think the service and friendliness of the staff is exceptional and is consistently so year after year. My only issue is that the rooms, while well furnished, can be small. Also, I object to paying for wifi. I hope that the Mark will change its policy and provide fast free wifi. Breakfasts are excellent though expensive. Even with these comments, the Mark is a superb hotel.

Staying here is like stepping back in time. Very elegant, from the doormen and front desk staff to the Top of the Mark bar on the 17th (?) floor. We were in a corner room, large and nicely appointed. Bed was super comfortable, and we had a delightful evening in the bar--it was movie night and they were showing "A League of Their Own", and serving popcorn. Met some really nice, interesting people there. I hope to be able to stay here again sometime.

This isn't the most modern or plush hotel but it's one of the most charming. It has managed to maintain its historical heritage and still has that old money Sam Francisco vibe. Small but lovely breakfast selection in a cosy restaurant. It's a homely place, really comfortable beds and good quality food. I needed a room for only one night. San Francisco seems to be ground zero for greedy hotel owners who push prices to the max when they can. On the Tuesday following Labor Day, I found this hotel online for $189.00, a bargain by San Fransisco standardize. I made the reservation using their website. Not a 3rd party booker. I was given a "run of the house" room. That translated to a third floor room overlooking mechanical equipment. So here's a suggestion. Talk up the customer who's checking in. ... Read more

This hotel is over 90 years old, I believe, and for the most part, very well kept. We loved the history of the beautiful building and found it to be quite charming. Clean, spacious, with wonderful bath amenities and a nice coffee maker. Turndown service included local chocolates. It is on a city block, in prestigious Nob Hill, a close walk to the shops of Union Square. The location is great, but be prepared for a good leg workout if you intend to walk back to the hotel! Also, the windows are o... Read more

I have to write this email as I am absolutely humbled by the amazing support and help the staff of Mark Hopkins Intercontinental has provided for my stay - I'm still staying and I was so impressed I'm jotting my thoughts down lest I forget. From start to finish the staff at the Mark Hopkins is Top of the Mark - haha did you get that? No? Never mind you'll get it when you stay at the Hotel. I checked in early as my flight had come in the morning; the staff eagerly offered a room that was availa... Read more

The hotel is great, and in a great part of the city. Very easy walking distance to Chinatown and several good restaurants. I would recommend getting a higher floor if possible, as the noise from the street might bother some guests. All of the staff were quite helpful for my short visit. The breakfast in the morning was terrific.

Stayed for 4 nights over Thanksgiving weekend. At checkin my husband asked if there were any updates. We were told we would have to pay $40 per night extra. There wasn't a room ready so we decided to say no. The next day we thought we would ask for an update because of a special event. We were told we would have a bay view looking out over Fisherman's Wharf BUT the room wasn't ready. They offered another room. My idea of a bay view wasn't what this room offered. Had lived in SFO so know b... Read more

Can't beat the location for the series of meetings I had in San Francisco. The property is stately, elegant, legacy hotel with high-end customer service. Each employee has been exemplary in his or her warmth, professionalism, and customer service.

Lovely hotel in a great location but our experience was poor. I really don't like leaving bad reviews but I am very dissatisfied about paying for a night of good quality accommodation that was not delivered. Our bathroom flooded from the toilet and had to pack up all our things and change rooms at around 3am. We were moved to a new room of a lesser standard than what we had booked and paid for (2 double beds instead of a king) and we didn't manage to get back to sleep. The night manager offere... I stayed at the Mark Hopkins for a two night business trip. It was very convenient to the California St business district. It has an aura of history to it and I enjoyed my stay. The lobby is spacious and perfect for meeting people before heading to the Top of the Mark. My room was fairly large and bed very comfortable. The windows do seem old and I could hear the cable cars throughout the night. You might consider requesting a higher floor. The highlight of staying there is access to the Top of... Read more
