This has been my third visit to Hotel Vitale and it was just as nice as my first years ago. The staff is friendly and professional. The rooms are beautiful and cozy. The view of the bay bridge from the rooftop patio is awesome. And the location is great.

Clearly a renovation taking advantage of an outstanding location. Just across The Embarcadero from the Ferry Building. Staff polite. Good bar and restaurant with outside seating. Very clean. Fast elevators. Overall a very nice hotel. Go for higher floors and try for a room fronting on the Embarcadero. Good view of the new LED light show on the Bay Bridge. Do not forget to walk along the public promenade on the water side of Pier 1 thru 5

This is a very nice hotel, especially when compared to a lot of other comparably priced options in SF. Loved the location across the street from the Ferry Building, and the room was perfectly pleasant. The staff was lovely and the room service was very high quality. Seemed to have a fun scene at the bar and you also get day privileges at the YMCA nearby. It's a bit "basic" for the price, but that's typical for SF.

Hotel Vitale has a great location at the bottom of Mission St. at Embarcadero with great access to the waterfront and easy access to the downtown area. The hotel is boutique-ish with a nice vibe. We had a city view room with kingsize bed on the fourth floor that was nice and quiet. Have to say though that the the room seemed a bit small for the price and the amenities in the room were not quite at the level I was anticipating they would be. The bathroom was pretty standard/average and I have to ... Read more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Vitale. Great location; beautiful view; good food; quiet. The Ferry Building was right across the street, so it was fun to wander over there to shop and have a bite to eat. Also, on the corner across the street was a really good restaurant called Boulevard Restaurant.

We stayed at the Hotel Vitale since my sister in law Danielle, the "bride-to -be" at the time, chose to this hotel for her wedding preparations and as her wedding night room. I understood why she chose it due to the perfect location. Wonderful view of the bridge, water and ferry building eats so close by. The problem is the steep price almost $400 (all in tax service charge etc) per night wasn't worth the room I got. When I booked at the website there was an option to get an upgrade room $ 3... Traveled for business. Wanted a nice place to stay in a centrally located area. Hotel vitale met my expectations for location but way underperformed on amenities. I was shocked by the loudness of the room. I could clearly hear street noise and hotel staff in the hallway. I couldn't believe the hotel expected me to pay for high speed internet; even the cheapest hotel chains offer wifi. Likewise, the tv did not offer premium channels, like HBO. We booked this hotel for our Silver Wedding, a very special occasion. We chose it largely because of the location and view. We booked a superior waterview room. The first room we were offered had a view only of the building across the road. We were then given a 'free upgrade' to an identical room two floors higher up. It was the only room out of thirteen on our US trip that did not have a coffee maker, and one of the few that did not have a bath. The only coffee we were offered was in the lobby,... Read more

This little jewel of a hotel across from the ferry building on the embarcadero was a pleasant surprise. Sparse, minimalist with a zen vibe, the staff seems bent on making visitors welcome, smoothing the path of your journey. There is a decidedly young vibe to the place. If you are a visitor of Kimptom properties there is a similar boutique feel. Rooms are clean in design functional and compact. Hotel Vitale is ideally located on the corner of Mission and Embarcadero. Although the hotel is slightly pricy, the location is very nice with a view of the Bay Bridge and the ferry Building. Especially the Restaurant has a nice atmosphere with a Terrace on the Embarcadero and absolutely excellent food in the restaurant. Do try the artichoke and brussels sprouts fritty or the spicy fries.

You can get all the comfort and amenities of a resort-style hotel and avoid the hustle and bustle of the city with a stay at Vitale. Gracious service, spacious and well-appointed rooms and perfect location all "come standard." It's well worth the few extra dollars for a room with a view of the bay and the bridge - especially at night. It may sound funny, but event the hallways feel warm and welcoming.

But take away the great location and the beautiful bay and you have a hotel that's okay and 'okay' isn't the way you want to describe a place that bills itself as a luxury boutiqu... Read more

The Hotel Vitale is located close to some of San Francisco's most stunning views. We booked a patio room, overlooking The Embarcadero and The Ferry Building. You cannot beat the comfortable set up they have out on your personal patio. I WOULDN'T call it private as there are plenty of buildings around (though not obstructive) with 9 - 5 er's so, naked might not be the way to go. The room itself was smallish, well appointed, and had great a great mini bar, Bose audio system, and flat screen TVs. ... Read more

Very Good location close to downtown but also close to the Embarcadero avenue where you feel the wind a the sea of Frisco. About the hotel decoration i found it was fine but not great, the rooms are ok. Our room was us$200 per day more expensive than the second one for our family just because had front view, even so the other that was Mission Av. view has a wider window and receive more daylight. The staff was correct but not what you expect in a hotel that advertise as a "boutique hotel". Speci... Read more

I was lucky enough to get booked here as a conference speaker (they paid). I not only got a great hotel in great location, but found myself in a corner room (felt like a suite with 2 rooms). The location is great, I was able to use BART (Embarcadero stop) and/or Lyft and everything was super close. Also the view is fantastic. I loved the oversized bathtub in my room too.

For being on the Embarcadero this sweet boutique hotel was clean, quiet & the view of the waterfront & Ferry Building was fantastic. The room service was excellent & delivered a hot breakfast. We are coming back...already booked.

From the beginning to the end, our stay at Hotel Vitale could not have been more lovely. Perfect location, gorgeous room with incredible room, super clean and a great staff. I'm very picky about hotels and this one gets a top score.

I didn't intend to stay at the Hotel Vitale. I knew nothing of the hotel before booking the reservation. All I knew was a friend was staying there and I just wanted to stay at the same place. My reservation was for the smallest room. When we arrived, the staff gave me a free upgrade to a corner suite. This suite was spectacular! We saw views of the Bay Bridge and the Pier and the San Francisco skyline. I've been to SF multiple times and have never seen views like that. Anyway I highly recomm... Read more

I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel Vitale recently and was so pleased with everything the hotel and staff had to offer. Great location; wonderful ambiance; comfortable bed; every amenity one needs and a restaurant that serves delicious food and is very accomidating. I will return!

Beautiful views of the ferry building, bay and Bay Bridge and it's right by the street car stop so it's very easy to get to Castro ad Fisherman's Wharf. My room was large and very comfortable and clean (although I did have to beg for a replenishment of bodywash which was weird). I'd give their breakfast a miss - unfriendly welcome (staff seem to concentrate on being supercool and over-serious) - and food takes a while to order, a long time to arrive and mean portions/no finishing touches. I have been coming to SF (Ess Eff, as Herb Caen would've said) for a good 50+ years. I've sampled many a-hotel. I've given up on some of the oldies, sadly. I discovered this place through TA reviews, and thank you to all who reviewed it! First off, the location is fantastic! Across from Ferry Building on one side and Boulevard Restaurant on the other! About 1 mile walking distance to the baseball stadium (which was my reason for staying here). I love how they text you ahead of time about y... Read more

Booked this amazingly located hotel as a treat to myself and although I did not get to use the Spa facilities or the gym I did go up to the 7th floor roof terrace to enjoy the views of the pier and Bay Bridge in the evening and in the morning. My room was comfortable and as I checked in early I managed to get my room early too. Conveniently located in the Embacadero district I only wish I had more time to enjoy the convenience of it all.

Location of the hotel is great. Rooms may not be the largest, but really nice size, and they do the job well in every way. Hotel has a nice view from it's terraces, especially at sunrise. The breakfast was not included to our stay but it was certainly great. Everything we've tried was delicious, and the service quality was excellent. I highly recomment.

Perfectly situated across the Embarcadero from the ferry building, this property has fabulous views of the Bay bridge, particularly at nightl. Staff are welcoming and friendly, valet parking efficient (if not a bit expensive, but this is San Francisco), and they have a great restaurant. If budget is of great concern, this may not be the hotel for you.

We have stayed at the Vitale in the past and loved it, we were looking forward to sitting on the rooftop patio and having a glass of wine, enjoying the surroundings. Our room looked out on a roof covered with fake grass and with numerous vents. Although the room was clean it left much to be desired. It was very small, did not have a comfortable chair to sit on, the safe was hidden in a cabinet at floor level so one could not read the instructions. Decor was minimal i.e. rather sterile without... We stayed for three nights in August 2016 booking a room with a Bay View and were not disappointed. The room, including the bathroom, was large with a very comfortable bed and all the extras one would expect of from a boutique hotel. The view of the Bay Bridge from our room was fantastic. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, one waiter at breakfast seeing us looking through a guide book recommended places to visit and how to get there. Such a perfect location in SF! Across the street from the Ferry Building, run from bridge to bridge (11 miles or so), Lyft drive away from shopping, across the street from Boulevard, and a roof top terrace! What more do you need? Comfortable bed, quiet, bar, restaurant and modern, hip atmosphere! My favorite place to stay in the city!

We have been staying here for 11 years after spending earlier years in Union Square and SOMA. For us, there is no other place to stay. The water views of the Bay Bridge and Ferry Building, plus location to both, makes this the best. If you like food, being across the street from the Ferry Blding is a godsend. Walk over early for coffee, go back for breakfast at Boulette's Larder, return anytime for anything you want. Hotel service is perfect.

The location of this property couldn't be better! Right across from the Ferry building, views of the water and bridge and Saturday farmer market for fun and snacks. The Ferry building is fun too plus you can walk to so much from this part of the city. We had a family wedding here and the staff at the hotel were so helpful and attentive. Food was great as well. Americano is a great breakfast place. Hotel is a little dated - a bit worn out.

Great location right by the water - you can see the Ferry Building and the Bay Bridge. Service was wonderful - they even send you an email for your check-in so you can tell them when you are arriving and what type of rooms you want. Rooms are in excellent condition and the bathrooms are beautiful with large standing shower. Though it is along the Embarcadero, it is surprisingly quiet at night. A nice getaway for a few days. This is a centrally located above the hustle at bustle of The Embarcardero. Great location, lots of local nearby food. If you don't want to park at the hotel for $58 a night the Howard Street garage a few blocks away is a nice alternative at $34 a night. Most garages don't have in and out privileges. More to be added soon ....

What a great hotel, location, and room. We loved it! Simple design and big views over the water were what drew us in. One of the neatest things we did while in town was the Farmers market directly across the Embarcadero. Rolling Roti (sandwich truck): you have our eternal dedication. The rooftop patio was especially nice at night overlooking the lights of the city.

This hotel is fine. It is in no way worth what it costs-- the rooms are no nicer than a Marriott or something comparable. The best asset is the location, if you want to walk to the Ferry Building. The most disappointing part is the hidden fees-- I was quoted a rate of $588 per room, so I planned to pay about $1180 plus tax. I got home to a credit card charge of $1639.40. This is $500 more than the hotel advertised-- apparently there was an "occupancy tax," "business district assessment," "u... Read more

I just spent the weekend at Hotel Vitale. The main attraction of this hotel is it's location, which is quite central. Otherwise, the place is generally seedy, the rooms dark (especially if you face a building as my upgraded room did) and the prices over the top. I certainly cannot recommend this place whose subtitle (joie de vivre) is certainly a misnomer! Let me further add that I was with a group of people in the hotel and that poor assessment was generally shared.

I travel to SF pretty regularly but this was the first time my office booked me at this hotel. Location is great as everyone points out. But I had a good clean room on the second floor. It looked out on to the Embarcadero. The only downside was that it also overlooked the outside bar/terrace which was a little noisy early evening. It didn't eat there but the bar was nice.

We stayed the few days before Thanksgiving and thoroughly enjoyed the hotel. The location is great! The hotel itself was very well maintained and clean and the service very good. Menu in the restaurant is good especially for breakfast. There were so many restaurants within walking distance it was hard to choose for dinner. All in all, great hotel!
