I was a solo female traveller visiting from Sydney Australia a few weeks ago and stayed 3 nights at the Triton. I have established a Trip Advisor account specifically for the purpose of reviewing them. I was highly impressed by everything at the Triton - really a top place! Staff and management are incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful and deserve praise for their excellent customer service. Shaneika checked me in and was a sunny, friendly face for the duration of my stay - I felt like I was be... Read more

I came into SF for business and had called earlier in the week to request an early check in. I was told that could not be accommodated as the hotel was booked full which is totally understandable. Then I asked if there was a bathroom in the lobby where I could ready ready for a meeting and I was told there was. Turns out the bathroom referenced was one stall that was really intended for a connected restaurant and it had no outlet. Not an ideal situation to try and change in and get ready when re... Well, had a room set a major brand around the corner and thought about it, OK pay 450.0 a night to sleep , shower and leave or pay 250.0 to do the same but look isn't it all about location and most of all the welcome was best of all its was warm. Keep in mind this is during the Busy Travel season for San Francisco I liked the place especially since it located right in front of China Gate. The place was clean, comfy and quiet and dated but nice. It was Groovy to the generation past but nice sta... Read more

The service was excellent from greetings to leaving. Beds were comfy and shower hot. It's also right next to the dragon gates of China town and a short walk to union square shopping so happy days. If your just using it as a base to see SF and sleep, you'll be fine. If you're looking for a resort ststyle lace, it's prob not the right hotel... my room has funky interiors (like a 50s Burger bar) and TV had limited channels and screen qualits. None of which I minded as I only slept there :-)

Good hotel, better than I expected, Not much to do in the town centre a lot more bars and restaurants in fishermans wharf. The only fault was the air con wasn't the best but still good enough to keep the room cool 5stars for price and better than the pictures show you.

Location excellent for downtown visits. Nice old hotel with rooms modernized for the era, everything worked great. Desk was quick and efficient for check in and out. Room amenities great, liked the cashews and chocolate coated almonds as a snack. Plenty of room to move about even though the room is relatively small. Thoughtful furnishings.

The property itself was in a great location and offered a uniquely whimsical vibe. The major drawback was the lack of Internet service, the lifeblood of most business travelers coming to the Bay Area. While its understandable for a boutique hotel to have periodic service outages for a few hours, it is completely unacceptable and bewildering that an upscale property in the heart of San Francisco would not remedy the problem for over four days.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel on a visit to SF and used it as a starting point for exploring the city. It is located right at the base of Chinatown and is a short walk to the Coit Tower and Embarcadero. The staff was wonderful and made it an amazing stay in San Francisco.

Hotel is right next to the entrance to China Town. Located next to a great restaurant and there is coffee and tea provided in the lobby in the morning. Hotel is also a short walk (30 minutes) to ATT&T ballpark. It is located in a safe area and has a Starbucks right across the street.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the start of June, staff were very welcoming after a very long day of travelling and we checked in very easily. Room was compact but had everything we needed (except a mirror in the actual room, only mirror was in bathroom but I am nitpicking!) We rented the hotel bikes for free, they're quite old but got us all the way over the Golden Gate bridge to Sausalito so they did the job! Very good location and the best value for money in the area. Standard rooms are small and there are no tea-coffee making facilities. However there is a bar fridge that needs to be opened with a key. The decor is unusual give it a unique charm.

For the past 2 months, I have stayed at Hotel Triton for work on and off. The hotel has a fantastic location for all things "San Francisco," As mentioned in earlier reviews, yes the rooms may be smaller however everything is extremely clean and in good working order and provide sufficient space. There is such a great vibe of "friendliness" from all of the staff from front desk to housekeeping. Great value compared to other "boutique" type hotels in the area.

Stayed here for New Year's Eve for 6 nights. Great location and an unusual hip hotel. Free class of wine available in the evening, some nights we were late and we're still offered a drink. Great attitude in the hotel. Location is right on the edge of Chinatown. Would recommend, particularly for younger couples. Loads of good eating places around this area.

We stayed at the Triton for 5 nights at the beginning of June, and found this to be a "quirky" hotel, with some original artwork in the reception area, and individually styled rooms. We were facing the gates of China town, so did not suffer the noise of the garbage trucks as mentioned in some other reviews, and although the room was small, it was perfectly formed, with everything we needed and it was clean. The thing that made a difference for us was the staff - they were absolutely fabulous an... Read more

I loved the colorful decor in this hotel. The hotel was older but the location was great...right next to china town and close to union square and incredible shopping. First, the 3 star rating is of the property itself--not of the area. This is a great area to stay, and the Triton offers a lot of advantages in that regard. I have stayed at the Triton many times and just returned from my most recent stay. it is no longer a Kimpton Hotel (and no longer union), so there have been some changes. Still as clean, or even cleaner, same decor, etc. Coffee still served in the morning, but no wine in the afternoon. Most noticeable change: the front desk. Efficie... Read more

Very central location, old building with some of the musty smell that comes with it but very clean, probably the cleaner bathroom I have been in ! Be prepared to be up at 4 a.m. evey morning as the city cleaners are very active at that time and they make sure you hear they're working. Pack some ear plugs or be ready for the noise; otherwise it's a good option for a quick visit to SF.

Great Atmosphere and friendly staff. My only complaint is that the a/c seems a bit dated and it takes even small rooms awhile to cool down when you first arrive and if you leave the a/c set to "energy saver".

The first thing you will notice is the colorful and cheery lobby. It is out of an Alice in Wonderland/ Willy Wonka Johnny Deep style movie. It makes you feel great. As we got out of our Uber, the concierge greeted us by name, even though this was the first time my wife and I have stayed here. Stephen was very helpful, informative, and told us where we could purchase a bottle of wine. The room was large enough and comfortable. We stayed on the top floor. Quirky, 'boutique' hotel conveniently located just up from Union Square and immediately opposite Chinatown gate. Rooms are clean and modern with an individual flavour. Staff very helpful and friendly. Parking is available but costs $58 a night for valet, a bit more expensive than parking locally but worth it for convenience and security. Happily visit again.

We stayed Sun-Wed at Hotel Triton and were really pleased with our experience. Our room faced the courtyard so no view (obviously) and it was quiet inside & out. The decor was as expected and the room (although small, not surprising) was really clean. The front desk was extremely helpful and accommodating to our needs. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

I stayed here for three nights in late July 2016. The hotel is dirty, desperately needs updating and is extremely overpriced for what they offer. Valet parking was $58 a night and it took them 25 minutes to deliver the car! There are so many other hotels in the area that are better priced and clean. Stay somewhere else!

This is a truly terrific hotel. This was my first visit to San Francisco. I had no idea about this location versus the activities I had planned. We explored all over the city and this location was perfect. I feel it would be hard to beat the location, atmosphere, hotel room, or personable staff at Triton. The staff was always available to help in any way. A big thanks to Eduardo, Benny, Marcus, and all of the staff.

While my room was on the small side, it was so fun! The theme was from Jack Kerouac's book "On The Road", and the wallpaper was excerpts from his book! Everything in the Triton is San Francisco themed right down to the funny announcement on the door to the ice maker, to the notation in the elevator: "We want to take you higher." So fun!
