"The Non-Smoking hotel is refreshingly different from conventional hotels in its decor, and free WiFi, in a quiet but convenient neighborhood and is across the street from the San Francisco MUNI bus lines, which we planned to use for our ventures throughout the city, The beds were very comfortable, there was an in room safe large enough for my 14' travel computer, and a small refrigerator that was not already filled with things we neither wanted or needed.

We arrived well before check in time but were graciously welcomed and immediately assigned our room. We had a lovely view of the Japan Peace Plaza with the Peace Pagoda. Fillmore street was a few blocks away with restaurants and shopping of every variety.

If we return to San Francisco, we would definitely return to this hotel."

"The woman who checked us in was so friendly and helpful. We knew nothing about the area and she pointed out great places to go for dinner, drinks, shopping, and let us know about all amenities the hotel offered. Four of us went to the hotel restaurant for a drink and the staff pulled up chairs and asked people to shift down a seat so we could all sit together. I was blown away! They said "of course we need to make room for you!!!... This would never happen anywhere in NYC. I love Japan Town in San Fran! I won't stay anywhere else! The room was spacious and clean and when we asked for more towels they brought us extra shampoo and soap 'just in case.' Umm thanks!!!! So helpfull!"

"The hotel was roomy, clean and quiet. It was easy to get to down town and all the sies by bus which was located across the street and ran frequently. There are some restaurants int he area and one in the hotel. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. We enjoyed our stay in Japantown at the Tomo."

"for me everything is perfect.
this tomo hotel was rebuilt and decorated with lots of japanesse cartoons.
i do love cartoons and tamagochi
this visit to san francisco and stay in tomo is an awesome experience.
i cannot say anything bad to tomo
plus transportation is pretty easy
2 and 3 bus are just outside the hotel
38 is several blocks away
i love it"

"We had a room on fourth floor, nice view of the cathedral and distant buildings.
The mattresses are a little too firm for my taste but ok for one night. Pleasant room and outdoor surroundings. Staff was very accommodating."

"Truly wonderful location in San Francisco walking distance to great shops and restaurants on Fillmore and Japantown. It was difficult to find a mid-priced hotel in the city that accommodated four so we were appreciative of Hotel Tomo. Other hotels wanted us to book two rooms. We enjoyed our balcony room %u2013 it added a little something special. No problem with outside noise as other reviews mentioned. Loved the contemporary but warm décor. The front desk was wonderful and always very positive and helpful. The only small negatives were the dimly lit bath/shower room and the 60/40 cotton/polyester sheets. I would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend this hotel to anyone. Saw a great diverse group of guests here which was fantastic: families w/young children, hipsters, young couples, mid-career jazz musicians, and elderly Japanese nationals."

"Hotel is in a fairly central location so you can catch a bus and get to most spots you want to visit. Fishermans Warf, Chinatown, Little Italy, Union Sqaure. Definitely a safer neighborhood to walk around in. Staff was awesome! Hotel is Clean! BUT.... If you want to sleep, you are out of luck....because the Beds are hard as a ROCK! "

"In general my stay at the hotel was good. Unfortunately the trip was medical in nature so I was largely confined to the hotel. The neighborhood is safe and I walked about a half mile to the hospital at 5 AM without concern. I did not get an opportunity to explore during my brief. I asked for little, but when I did make a request it was happily and promptly fulfilled. My regret is that the cafe was limited and although the staff there was cheerful more choices would have been nice. The room was bright and more than large enough for me and the in room safe was a comfort for the night I was confined to the hospital. In room coffee was used and refilled to my pleasure."

"There were very few outlets, which made it inconvenient to charge my phone and laptop. The room was also very warm, i changed the thermostat to 68 degrees but it didn't seem to help, so i had to leave my window slightly open. The bathroom light was also very dim, so it made it feel like i was showering in the dark. Overall, the room was clean and staff seemed nice."
