I came to San Francisco this month for my first solo trip, wanting to see the west coast for the very first time. I planned to explore and enjoy Japantown, so theming and location led me to choose this hotel as I love Japanese food, culture, art, and American ethnic neighborhoods. When making reservations online, I made a short note asking for a view of the local historic Peace Pagoda. When I arrived, my room was ready in perfect time. I was placed in a stunning corner balcony room that not onl... Read more

The hotel is located at Japan Town. The hotel is currently under renovation because it's outdated. Our room is very small with 2 double beds and very dark. The bathroom sink clogged and night stand lamp does not work but no one came to fix the problems.

Stayed here on a friend's recommendation. Right in Japan town, so that is cool if you are looking to get some Japanese food. Nice overall atmosphere with the decorations, wood block print art, etc but the hotel also feels a bit like something from the 70's. Room was definitely not impressive. It was a bit beat up and the furniture was blah. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom set up with the toilet separate from the shower/bath. Also, standing shower right next to a very deep tub was nice. ... Read more

This is the second time I have stayed here. Glad to say they still had the same scrambled eggs and bacon cooked in the way the Kabuki do it. I pray they will keep doing it that way. Many hotels do bacon and eggs and porridge but these guys do it like no other hotel I have ever stayed at. I love their breakfast.! I have stayed at far higher standards of hotel and I do not know why I like this one so much. It's in a great area, Japantown, masses of services right on the doorstep for all needs, par... Read more

I stay here cuz the rooms is weird looking and you right next to Japantown. One thing that stinks is the crappy and limited parking situation. They ain't got enough space for all the rooms and good luck with that.

Service and accomodation of our needs was above and beyond ordinary, expected service. I love the contemporary Japanese design elements in the room decor. All facilities are comfortable and the locatrion is great. If you have a car, parking in the underground, City-run lot is far cheaper than parking would be at a comparable downtown hotel.

There's plenty to say when it comes to needed improvements. The two rooms I booked were terrible and disgusting. The décor is out dated and old (read reeking of b.o. and musty) with peeling wall paper, moldy tiles, stained/musty carpet, slow/clogged toilet, pet hair everywhere, doors so old the outer wood layers shows water damage and is peeling away, windows were not well sealed or insulated (loud street noise and bitter cold draft), only one ice machine in the entire hotel, beds and pillows w... My family and I were on a business trip and we had to travel with our teenagers as it was thanksgiving break for them, we checked in on the 27th , we were a little early but Adrian at front desk was so accommodating and very nice and professional! We were even able to get a bigger room to fit our girls on the last minute! As far as the room goes, yes some of the family suites are out dated and old looking but the price is well worth it! We were so surprised that our family room had a sauna! Wh... Read more

This hotel is conveniently located in JapanTown, only a few blocks from several venues in the civic center area. It is surrounded by good restaurants, and the neighborhood feels safe. The rooms are quite comfortable, and have several features that reflect the Japanese cultural identity, like sliding screens and a large, deep tub. The common spaces and grounds were lovely, and underground parking is easy to access. The staff were all polite, professional and friendly. The room rate was more re... Read more

This is my second time at this hotel, and this time it was disappointing. I am staying in the Garden Wing, which feels a poor relation. The lift is slow and feels like a service life. There is no bottled water in the rooms. There is no socket by the coffee machine. The socket by the bed does not work. The free internet is spotty and slow (1mbps). Overall I would expect more for the price. But the breakfast is good!
