Stayed at this hotel for convenience because the conference I was attending was being held there. The hotel staff were great and it was overall a pleasant stay. The rooms are dated and noisy however I was told there are renovations planned, however the largest disappointment was no food on property after breakfast other than a vending machine. After arriving late at night from a long fight I wasn't able to get anything to eat. The location being Japantown meant there weren't the usual convenient... Read more

I love the style of this hotel. I love the "Asian" feeling. Love the tub and sauna! Its so fun. The older rooms have good atmosphere, but no A/C, I really hated that and woke up grumpy and hot. I would choose one with A/C.

I had the opportunity to stay at this hotel. From the website photos it looked interesting. The hotel room was large and clean but it was also dated and extremely noisy. I could hear everything from the street especially the garbage truck at 4AM. There was breakfast but it was average for US$19. There is also a mini mall by the hotel with small stores and restaurants. I didn't eat at any of them so I can't make a specific recommendation. Overall this hotel is just ok.

Of all the many wonderful San Francisco hotels I have stayed at, this has become my favorite. The location is terrific and the valet parking is outstanding. The valets are excellent and take great care of your car. In addition, if you don't need in and out privileges you can take a short ride down the hotel elevator to the parking structure below and park there where the fee is less. There is also a shopping mall accessible through a door in the hotel where you can grab a bite to eat or do so... Read more

We loved our 2 nights at the Kabuki. The hotel is a lovely Japanese themed hotel. The bedrooms were well equipped, immaculately clean and quirky with the Japanese screens etc. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Its in the Japanese quarter of the city so not downtown but the public transport is easy To figure out - a 20 bus down then a 38 back and get off at Laguna stop.

We chose to stay in the family suite and were impressed with the spacious room and the comfortable beds. The kids enjoyed having their own space behind closed sliding screen doors. As previous reviewers noted, the bathrooms aren't the most up to date (hence one less star). However, it didn't detract from the experience of West meets East. We were surprised to find a sauna in our room. Wish we had time to give it a try. We loved the convenience to so many eateries! It was hard to choose wh... Read more

First, let me say that the positives certainly outweigh the negatives for The Kabuki. The location in Japantown is wonderful. It's a more upscale neighborhood than some of the surrounding ones. And at night, it is incredibly quiet. The hotel has a funky Japanese/modern motif. There are 10 or more sushi bars on the same street. So if you love sushi, you hit the motherlode! The staff is friendly and kind. The rooms are clean and bright. The beds are extremely comfortable. Some of the roo... Read more

This hotel seemed like something a bit different and fun. The check-in staff were very friendly. We were on our honeymoon but had kept fairly quiet about it the whole trip. But Domingo at the front desk greeted us so nicely and was very good at making casual conversation about what brought us to the hotel, unlike check-ins at any of the other hotels of our trip. The Tower building, true to its name, is taller and has some amazing views from the upper floors; that's where we stayed. 3 nights and four days to explore San Francisco is not enough and we would love to return, but not sure the same can be said for the Kabuki. It is reasonably close to the centre yet we still needed a cab both ways when going anywhere. Breakfast was ok but the worst aspect was the lack of car parking. Hotel is a bit dated, but comfortable. I had to change rooms two times due to an issue with the tub drain backing up and the A/C in the other. Staff is good and willing to help. The area is unique and a little taste of Japan and away from some of the madness of Union Square, etc. The hotel has some good value and as someone who loves Japan, I appreciated how it was connected to the Japan shopping malls and grocery stores.

The room is basic and should try and have a semblance of luxury but the bathroom really looks nice. Security should be improved as anyone can walk into the room without question. At least visitors should be directed to the reception to confirm if he/she should be allowed in. The dining services needs to be developed as I had to order dinner out and not all people like me like that. A robust menu should be provided so all that is required of a guest can be met in one place.
