"The hotel is an older hotel with small rooms and bathrooms and exposed piping. I love that. If you want aHilton - stay at the Hilton. If you want a hotel that is right off Union Square,a staff that makes you feel at home every time you walk throught the door, great parking arrangements, and reasonable pricing, this is a great place."

"Location is great for shopping and dining - just 4 blocks from the Powell BART stop. Bed was very comfy and the room was clean. It may get a little noisy late at night but it didn't wake or bother us even with the windows open. There is no A/C in the room but not really needed for SF weather. Staff was very friendly. We would stay here again."

"Super friendly staff - very helpful in every way! Nice room - quite small, but with
large closet for suitcases, etc. No air conditioning, but large ceiling fan kept
us cool. GREAT central location, only steps away from central shopping, trolley
cars, bus and tour buses. 7-11 right across the street, large Walgreen on corner (including large food section) Will definitely return to this hotel !!"

"I would recommend this hotel for a stay in a very convenient location with easy access to the cable cars, BART, Union Square attractions. The room was clean and comfortable, and the lobby had sophisticated character in this hostoric building. If you choose to forgo room cleaning service, they even off a discount at the on-site restaurant or a Starbucks gift card - very nice touch. While my original room was comfortable, it was on the second floor with the lower roof right outside the window and a dismal view of the next building - when I asked about a move, they readily offered an available room for me to inspect. While it was in the sqame location, it was several floors up which gave a less closed in view and more natural light, so I was content with the change. The room, while small as expected, had a large walk-in 'dressing closet' with room to store luggage inside and also a dresser in the closet. An iron and ironing board was provided, and the small bathroom was more than sufficient - well laid out for the space. Don't expect any views from the room unless you are in the front of the building, but after all - you need to get out on the street for the best views anyway, right. The room itself functioned perfectly for my needs. I would stay there again."

"Location is perfect. Hotel Lobby is beautiful. Room size is horrible. Beds are twin size (small). My room wondow was broken, I could not open it. No A/C or Heat in the rooms. Room is OK size for a couple of single person. It is two small if you have a kid with you. Not much place to keep luggage."

"What a horrible experience. Upon arriving, I learned that my request for 2 twin beds was declined and I was told I would have to share a 'queen' bed with a friend of mine who was sharing the room. Upon getting to the room, which was TINY and bathroom was a CLOSET, the bed was a FULL not a queen. We returned to the front desk -- who was less than accommodating...and did not like that we had booked through Bookit.com. He would make no concessions for us, told me it was not their fault that we had the room that we had. But for an additional $50, he would upgrade us to the 'Suite' with a king size bed and a pull out. We took this room. The room was suite size and nice, however, the windows faced Sutter St. and was VERY LOUD all night! I think I slept about 3 hours the entire night. The next morning, we asked for a late check out and the front desk person AGAIN said 'No'. And, again no concession for having to pay for a larger room since we couldn't get what had been requested. Customer Service was TERRIBLE. I Will NEVER stay at this hotel again."

"I was more than pleased with my accommodations at the Larkspur Hotel on Sutter. I stay in the city often, but this was my first experience with the Larkspur. My suite was spacious and well-appointed. The staff was more than friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be in the center of things in San Francisco."

"Close to Union Sqaure, China Town. Location is great. Was able to walk to ATT park from hotel. It was clean and well maintained. Rooms are small, however, that is typical of the old hotels of San Francisco. When I booked the hotel online, I requested two twin beds. When I checked in, I was told they did not have a room available with two twin beds and only a queen. ('Can't garauntee requests made by third party booking sites' I was told). After some hemming and hawing, I was able to get a fold out in the room for my friend. Other wise the stay was pleasant. The bellman was pleasant and helpful when our tv remote did not work."

"I had never stayed at the Larkspur hotel prior to my visit this past ending of June, 2011. The front staff was pleasant and allowed me to check in early. I went up to my room and than came down a little later to check out AT & T Park.

Kevin, the concierge/front door staff/greeter extraordinaire, was quick to offer a kind smile while providing directions, options for dinner and a map. When I returned that evening, he again greeted me with huge smile and asked about the ballpark visit. I said it was wonderful, but needed some wine before everything closed. He knew where the closest liquor store was located, as well as the local bars and dance clubs. I went to the liquor store and returned to the same polite greeting as before I left.

When I departed the hotel the next day, the front desk staff kept my back in storage while I attended the Giants game. When I returned to the hotel, Kevin was once again working and offered to help me with my bags down to the corner. That type of customer service is a RARITY to say the least!

I know how important customer service is because I am a Tour Guide at Target Field, home of the MN Twins. I have also been in Event Services Management for over 15 years and often have stayed and contracted hotels. I would recommend this hotel to ANYONE from a CEO to a friend just going to the city for the evening or weekend! Kevin is a true professional with a genuine demeanor and kind smile!
