Stayed 28 Apr - 01 May Very welcoming at reception, coffee and wine on offer when checking in. Room was available at 1pm when we arrived which was handy. The location is within easy walking distance of Union Square, Powell Street and Market Street which means you have access to all the transport you will need (Tip: get a travel passport from Powell Street). The room was a little small but managable for the 3 of us, the bathroom was small but an additional 1 just down the corridor was handy. ... Read more

I booked this hotel for a weekend and I was extremely pleased with it. In San Francisco a hostel could cost you just about the same and at Bijou you get a nice little hotel room with a lot of character and super friendly staff. The lady at check in was so friendly and nice, housekeeping always smiling and super nice. Whoever complains about breakfast obviously did not check out the prices at other hotels. We wanted a nice little place where we can crash after visiting San Francisco . Pros: -... Read more

Really can't complain about this hotel for the price we paid. It was very good value. The rooms were spacious and clean. My only criticism about the rooms is that there was no tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The staff were fantastic (from the Receptionist, Cleaners and Concierge) and gave us such a warm welcome as soon as we arrived. Throughout our stay they really couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. It was right on the edge of the Tenderloin district so the are... Read more

We stayed here May 19-23 and the only complaint i have that was hotel related was that our key cards were not always working almost every day(The hotel was quickly willing to make sure our cards worked), and pertaining to the surrounding streets (not hotel related) which smelled of urine which is not the most inviting smell at any given day. Our flight got in late on the day of arrival and we managed to catch the last BART which got in to the Powell station close to midnight. So long as you know... Read more

This small, old hotel is well located a few blocks from Union Square in San Francisco, near Powell St. Public transport is very easy to access, stores and restaurants on all surrounding blocks. The staff were uniformly friendly, the room and bathroom were clean. That said, I would not stay here again, for several reasons. The bed was not comfortable, and if one person turned over, the whole bed shook. The room was very small, although there was sufficient storage space for clothing. No one on ... Read more

So I was a total travel rookie and booked Friday instead of Saturday. Whoops! Thank goodness for Brenda, the wonderful woman at the front desk for making sure we had a place to stay!! As for the room it is small, but it was perfect for my boyfriend and I. Clean, nicely decorated and the hotel has an adorable movie theater theme. We will be back for sure!!! Thanks for making us feel welcomed and we look forward to seeing the wonderful staff again!

I'll start with the positives, because there are a couple. The staff were very friendly and there was breakfast each day. My kids also loved the lollipops by the front desk. There is no beating the location for sightseeing, just a block from public transportation. Unfortunately, I can't really say much more on the positive side. My family stayed here for 4 nights. They put us in a room that faced the street, where the constant noise of the homeless living just outside our window went on th... Read more

Pro's - hotel is really affordable, one of the lower costed ones in the area, staff are lovely, friendly and helpful. Free continental breakfast supplies. Location is good, it's nice and close to the shops, cable cars, union square etc. Also, there is a great bar next door where you can grab a couple of drinks and play pool. Good cable TV, with lots of channels. Cons - mason st intersects with eddy st, which from what we saw and what locals told us is a well known drug and homeless area. Day a... Read more

Very small room, very comfy bed. No air conditioning but it is so cold in San Francisco that you don't need it. Perfect location to visit the city. Walking distance to all possible type of transportation: Bart, cable car, 2 decks buses (City sightseeing tour bus). Walking distance the the big mall. I bought the Go Pass San Francisco, paid $20 more to get access to the blue line and I was very satisfied with this option. The first day, I have visited The Aquarium of the Bay and The Science. 2... Ideally located near Union Square, you can stay here and save big money to go shopping along the Market Street high brand stores nearby. Themed with the idea of an old movie house and displaying dozens of old pics and paintings of stars and theaters from decades ago, classics all, my college degree in mass media and love of old films made this stay worthwhile. It's central location and generously helping staff, modest cost and decor were the high points. It's quirky rooms, each named after a fil... Read more
