The room was spartan but certainly clean and comfortable. There was noise outside at night from homeless people on an adjacent street. Given the price and the clean comfortable room this hotel is a very good deal.

Hotel was a good choice for staying few nights with friends for a new year holidays. Pros: good location, friendly staff, good size rooms. Cons: sketchy neighborhood with homeless problem, mattress too soft.

the hotel itself was perfect for what I needed for my NYE stay. Nothing fancy. My room was clean & comfortable. The staff, especially Nanette who checked me in and Eric was incredibly helpful. They offered a glass of wine upon check-in, had free coffee/tea in the lobby 24/7 and offered a free breakfast to-go back in the am if you were interested. Now, it's Union Square/SOMA/Tenderloin adjacent, so it's a little dodgy right outside of the hotel as there is quite a large homeless population ne... Read more

Excellent location and extremely helpful, friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them. It is right in the centre and a two minute walk from the many shops and tram trips. There is a huge homeless problem but my daughter and I felt very safe. The hotel itself is a bit tired looking, but, we would not hesitate to stay again. Constanze and Eric (staff) were very helpful and obliging. Recommended.

A comfortable independent hotel in an excellent position. The staff were very helpful from the welcoming drink and free street map on arrival, to the exceptional help from Cicero who was on duty overnight. Not only did he have excellent local knowledge but because we needed a travel bag, he provided us with information so that we complied with airline requirements, and even suggested a few shops we could try. Service indeed!

Look this little quaint hotel. Each room has its own name and I stayed in "Mrs Doubtfire". The staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great. Despite there were a few homeless people, I felt quite safe and they were actually quite harmless. Will stay in this hotel again.

Our family spent 3 nights at the hotel recently. The staff were always attentive and considerate even before one of our family had a serious fall while on a tour of the city's sights. The accident unfortunately end up with one of the family members being hospitalised, requiring a short stay at the UCSF Medical Centre and further treatment upon returning home. From the very personable and informative reception desk day and night staff, hotel housekeeping to the helpful doorman, everyone made our ... Read more

Cute little hotel in a great location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Had an old and dated feel. Not the nicest hotel ive ever stayed in but For the price it was great. I would stay there again.

The location is very central but I would advise against staying here if you are female and traveling alone. There are tons of homeless at all times of the day. There were a couple of times I felt unsafe. It is not the hotels fault but I feel like you should know these things. The rooms are small but have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The staff is very nice and had plenty of information on nearby food spots.
