My room was on 25th floor- clean and recently renovated. Comfortable bed. Iron in room, coffee maker, gym and pool so good for a business trip. Quiet. Good breakfast buffet with friendly staff. Not the closest hotel to market and the main tourist areas but uber is cheap and it is on the trolley line.

Hotel is clean and tidy. Some of the floor staff can be a bit curt. We decided to eat there on our first night and the service was a little slow. But there are plenty of places nearby to eat. Walking distance to cable car, well worth doing. Local bus is 47.

The hotel is an excellent downtown property with rooms which are comfortable and have all the requisite amenities for a business stay. Lots of good restaurants a few minutes walk but the convention center is not within easy walking distance (1.5 miles). Taxi rides are quick and cost around 10-12$, which is good. Nearest train (BART) is about a mile away. Overall, proved to be a convenient location. Staff was good and friendly

I love the location of this hotel, close to the cable car, bus line, walk to wharf or Lombard street. TIP: there is a Whole Foods in the building across the street for stocking up (keep walking around behind the Chevron station and you will see it) The lobby is remodeled and looks lovely, the staff is quite friendly and helpful. The rooms are adequate, the bed was clean and comfortable but the carpet and drapes are in need of replacement if you can live with that (and I was able to) this is prob... Read more

I agree with the positive reviews - good location, professional crew, helpful tours and attractions booth. Located at Van Ness which I discovered to be very central. Serves as a good home base for a trip, and the hotel crew I came across were all very professional. One note - I'm also a business traveler with the company I work for and they knew I belong to that company. At specific times/events I felt like the team wasn't very flexible and responsive to requests like an early checkin/checkout ... Read more

I have just spent 3 nights here with my family. We encountered numerous problems and unfortunately the only staff member who seemed to genuinely care was the lovely gentlemen who checked us out on our last day. We were told many conflicting things from different staff members which was quite frustrating. Also, the air conditioning wasn't working and although we were told twice that someone would come and look at it, it was never fixed and there was no communication about it at all. I think thi... Stayed here for a few nights with my son (early 20s). The hotel was clean and comfortable with helpful and friendly reception staff. The hotel is reasonably located with lots of restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk. Also the start of the cable car is literally just around the corner so good for going downtown, Fishermans Wharf, etc., and getting home in the evenings! Didn't eat at the hotel so can't comment on the food.

This hotel was perfect for our business needs. The room was comfortable with a splendid view. The gym was nice, but I preferred doing yoga on the pool deck area. It was in close proximity to many tourist sites. Easy access to the bus and trolley system. There are plenty of restaurants in walking distance. I really like that Whole Foods was across the street. Overall, it was a splendid, comfortable stay!

So the good part first: Room was clean didn't smell bad and the house keeping staff was very polite. The elevators are fast and secure. The cable car stops right outside so getting to something to do is not awful. The one pizza we ordered was pretty good. Bad part: They over charged me for parking, then when I said something, the front desk said they fixed it, but it is still on my charge anyway. My children and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. It was clean and comfortable. We found parking up the street because the hotel parking was nearly $50 a night. We were also somewhat disappointed with the very expensive snacks in the hotel lobby restaurant -- a couple of breakfast pastries, a yogurt, two juices and a coffee was $40! Finally, the weather was far too cold to take advantage of the pool -- the main reason I selected this hotel.

This makes it easy to get on it, however you may wait in a long line when coming back. A Whole Foods was a short walk up the hill and there was a Starbucks located in the bank... Read more

Wouldn't recommend this hotel! After a long flight we were greeted by friendly hotel staff who offered us half of one of their suites on the top floor...the catch was that there was no bed so would have to use a sofa bed where you could feel the springs coming through. The staff on the desk promised to get us a mattress to go on top to make it more comfortable but when the mattress was brought to the room it was one single mattress (two of us would be sleeping in the bed). We then went back to r... Read more

Spent two nights. I requested a room away from the elevator and was told by front desk that he would get me as far as possible. Went to room and it was the closest room (next to) to the elevator. Had to go back to front desk and another desk clerk put me in a room further from elevator but was a double queen rather than a King that I paid for. Room was very dated but clean and quiet. Hotel was within a block or two of good restaurants and bars. Was about 5 blocks from a cable car. Restaurant was... Read more

This hotel is huge with loads of foot traffic due to its location and access to public transportation. Security is great as key controls elevator otherwise it's impossible to control safety. A three floor garage is inside if you have car. A lovely restaurant is located in the lobby. Rooms are spacious, large tv, comfortable beds, and a refrigerator in the corner. AC is killer! Gym was great but a bit warm as it has direct sun light, all glassed in and overlooking the pool area, which is lovely. ... Read more

Nice hotel. Conveniently located for buses. Minuses: (1) Parking charges are outrageous - $45 per night. Adds up very quickly for a multi-night stay. Highway robbery, but they have you at their mercy. (2) Only 1 washer and dryer. For a very large hotel filled with tourists, this is ridiculous. Had to do laundry in the middle of the night since machines were always busy.

This had been planned since January as it was my friends 70th birthday year and we wanted to go somewhere special. We went to New York for her 60th. We arrived 7.30 USA time. We been travelling for nearly 24 hours. My friend and I were sharing a room and were offered 26th floor as they were booked up. We had already sent an email asking for a high floor but they never answered. We thought this was a bonus. My friend had the bed settee and I had a "cot". The room had the most marvellous views and... Read more

Very well located - less than 3 miles walk from Fisherman's Wharf along the Van Ness Ave - terminus of the California cable car and served by local buses. Comfy beds, clear TV, vg wifi too. But no GOLF tv channel. Very good shower but air con can be very noisy - hence might have to switch off.

Staff were friendly and very accommodating. As a Club member, got ungraded to a room on the 24th floor with a spectacular view on downtown, Bay Bridge, Coit Tower and more. Room was well equipped and very comfortable. Hotel price is one of the lower ones for a San Francisco hotel. Parking on site is a convenient benefit.

I was pleasantly surprised when we stayed at this hotel recently. The hotel has been renovated and appeared much improved in terms of comfort since our last stay a few years ago. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Our room faced east and provided us with an awesome view. The staff are pleasant and professional as well. We loved the beer selection in the hotel bar but found the excessive amount of televisions overwhelming, if you aren't up for watching sports you're out of luck. Acce... Read more

Spent one night at this hotel as part of a 14 day tour of the Golden West (Newmarket Holidays) and really enjoyed our short stay. It had all the amenities one would expect from a first class hotel (free WiFi, safe, fridge & tea/coffee facilities). Room was very comfortable with 2 large double beds. Location is excellent with many bars and restuarants surrounding the hotel. Public transport including the famous trams are also very close to the hotel. Would certainly use again if in this famous ci... Read more

We stayed 4 days in this hotel and were quite happy with the stay. The service in reception and breakfast area was good. Training facilities were open early in the morning which is a big plus. The best thing however is the location which is central when you want to get around in SF. The breakfast is a bit lackluster though with all its industrialized and processed products; it does't take that much to make more out of a breakfast that costs around 20 USD but that is probably what you get staying... The definition of a hotel in India of the same Holiday Inn Chain means a 24 hr coffee shop, 24 hr room service, a very courteous reception etc. Here one has to q up for long time to get your turn to check inn. There is just a tiny coffee shop. There is no restaurant where one can have a proper meal. And there is no proper room service. It is better to stay in a cheaper hotel or motel. It is shear waste of money. The very concept of SERVICE does not exist.

I really want to keep this positive but find it hard after one incident. We had been allocated a room next to the lift shaft (which should be avoided at all cost due to the sound of the lift) so after the first night asked if we could be moved rooms. The staff being very understanding said they could arrange this and provided us with a free breakfast. We had been asked to pack all our bags and they would move them to the new room for us. We were very happy with this choice. Great location, the rooms are very comfortable, ours had a nice view of the city. Service is good, the restaurant inside is not gourmet but it's okay if you are tired and want to have a nice meal. There is room service, my kids used it one night while they were watching the NBA finals and didn't want to go out to dinner.

The hotel is centrally located in San Francisco. It is about 1.7 miles if you want to go to Market St and about 2 miles to Fisherman's wharf. The cable car is right next to the hotel at Polk St. Ride the cable car from corner Van Ness and Polk then change cable car at cor Powell and Polk going to Market St. The hotel is clean and no old carpet smell. We stayed at 22nd floor so we had a nice view of the bay. Front desk personnel are all friendly and nice. I will surely come back to this hote... Read more

Good location but you will need to take public transportation or Uber/Taxi to get around. Just too many hills in any direction to be able to walk around the city from this hotel. The outside looks very plain but the rooms are top notch.

With the hotel market in San Francisco being totally crazy, it is important to review SF hotels versus other SF hotels in the city, not with other holiday inn hotels in other states or cities. SF is very expensive and hotel room prices reflect that. For what you would pay for a 5 star resort in some parts of the country you get a basic room in SF. So the hotel can be expensive, but over all it was very comparable to other similar hotels in the area. It is a nice hotel. The staff was very frie... Read more

This is a fantastic place to stay. You're in the middle of the city. There's a Trolley stop right outside the Hotel on California. We've had nothing but great experiences here. Whole Foods is right across the street. Surrounded by fabulous places to eat and easy access to Fisherman's Wharf. The Hotel staff are very friendly. Parking is on the premises for $40 a day- which means I don't have to contend with the traffic and fighting over a spot outside. The Hotel is immaculately clean! Room servic... Read more

Like most of the reviews already mentioned, it is a hotel in a good location. Not right in the middle of the centre however everything is in walking distance or can be reached by public transportation. Make sure that you have a Muni visitor passport as busses and cable car both stop nearby the hotel. With the cable car you just ride for a couple of minutes and a Traders Joe is at the right (Hyde Street). In case you are looking for a good breakfast you might try 'Toast' at Polk Street just minut... Read more

We spent three nights at this hotel and had a room with two double beds, a TV, coffee maker and air conditioning. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and modern. The location of this hotel was okay but it was quite a walk to Union Square and Fishermans Wharf and very hilly. There are a few shops and cafes nearby. We had a comfortable stay but I would recommend checking out hotels closer to Fishermans Wharf as there are more restaurants and shops and is more of a tourist spot.

The outstanding staff of this hotel make it a great place to stay. Easy to get to the UCSF campuses. Walking distance to Swans! On the cable car line. The central location and outstanding views from either side are so special. We even got to see the Blue Angels during fleet week!

Since I arrived the experience has been a nightmare. First, they dont recognize you as IHG priority member. There is no priority line whatsoever. You have to be with airline personnel and families doing the queue. Then, they charge you $3 per package (box or envelope) you receive before or during your stay. Yes! You can be in your room and if someone send something to you they kidnap it until you pay. Breakfast is expensive, the restaurant hasnt a lot of options and the service is bad. If... Read more

Clean, modern hotel, good service, everything you'd expect from a city Holiday Inn. Well placed for Chinatown and not too far from other tourist sites. It is expensive however, with lots of extra charges - parking and breakfast especially are very overpriced.

I usually don't write reviews because i own my own hotel and don't want to cause waves... I let the right people know if I have any issues. I stayed at this hotel for one week. Nice gym (open 24 hours!), great beds, and good service as well. The location is especially great: everything worth seeing is quite close (I walked everything), such as the Golden Gate Bridge (approx. 5K by foot), the piers, Mission, Castro, etc. There is a whole foods at the other side of the street, which is really convenient too if you want to get something (healthy) to eat.
