Just stayed at this Hilton for a 4-day meeting. First the positives. Bountiful but expensive buffet breakfast at $34/person ‚?? unless it is included in your room package. Fast elevators. Refrigerator in my room. Booked a junior, one room suite. First assigned in Tower 3, which is being renovated from the top floors down ‚?? my 7th floor room was very tired and tattered, but no allowance on price ‚?? Ouch! Upon check-in, a group of rowdy, apparently drunk guys (at 4 PM) could be readily heard ... Read more

It's been several years since I last stayed at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square. I was welcomed back as a Hilton Honors member, which also gave me free hotel wifi. The room was clean, recently renovated, and the amenities were modern. The bed was comfy with enough pillows to prop yourself up to watch the flat screen tv. The desk provided ample space to spread out while working, and there was a pull out nested desk for added workspace or if you need the desk to be a bit lower. Some small c... Read more

Great hotel. Even while it's business oriented, which you would expect, I can imagine staying here with my family as well. It has a good atmosphere, great and well cleaned rooms, and all other things you would expect a good hire to have. I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and colleagues. Will visit again, next time I'm in SF.

Great Hotel to stay , concierge is awesome, they know everything in the area and everywhere in San Francisco. The area has great restaurants of every kind. Rooms are good size ,clean and coffee was very good. Their personnel did something so special for my mom's bday, they delivery strawberries covered in chocolate and sparkling wine, it was very thoughtful ,we did enjoy the gesture. The only issue which the hotel can't do anything about is that the immediate area can be unappealing at times.

I don't understand the other reviews at all. This place is awesome! This was a surprise hotel after I rolled the dice on Hotwire. I was initially excited since I love Hiltons, but then read the reviews and figured this would be an old, boring Hilton in desperate need of renovation. However, I was pleasantly surprised and thus compelled to write a review and increase their average. This hotel is happening. It has a great location just a short walk from Union Square. The lobby is always buzzing... Read more

This Hilton hotel is right in the heart of shopping, restaurants and easy access to public transportation. The 42 floor in tower 1 provides amazing city views and on a clear day, a view of the Gold Gate Bridge. Please note - a town car is provided for travel to the airport at $40 a trip, much cheaper than a cab - or take the BART two blocks away at $9 a trip. Hurray for Hilton - Great place to stay while you visit SF.

We stayed here as a couples trip in June, 2016. This hotel is HUGE - like when you stay in Vegas and your room number is 5-digits long huge! It's actually a convention hotel with big ballrooms and exhibit halls, and there was a national convention going on while we were there. The lobby was packed and loud all the time -- but the floors and rooms were really surprisingly quiet and restful. Pros: Beds were comfortable, shower was large (no tub in our room), great views of downtown, easy walk... Read more

We were lucky enough to have a three bed-room and a cot so we could all stay in one room, that was awesome. The staff was quick to please and bring us ladies more towels when asked. The faucet was faulty but we suffered with the constant drip, the noise in the lobby was always there with lots of business travelers and the store there was EXTREMELY expensive (2 waters and an apple for $15) really? The coffee shop could have opened earlier with many people walking to Starbucks. The homeless wer... Read more

I stayed here for 3 nights for a business trip. The hotel room was small but adequate. The bed was very comfortable and having a refrigerator in the room was a plus. While the hotel was right in the heart of the city (walking distance to most attractions) however the homeless population right outside of the hotel is very distracting and scary at night. I do not recommend walking around by yourself at dark. Parking is absurd but it is California. The breakfast buffet costs $34 as well which... Read more

We booked this hotel through our travel agent and were very pleased. It was clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. It offered a bar and a quick food service, although I thought it was a little pricey. My daughter loved the fitness room, which was a good size. Average prices, average quality. If your looking for upscale business class hotel in the Union Square area, try The Four Seasons, The Nikko, JW Marriott, or Grand Hyatt. Sadly, this Hilton has neglected many of the highly coveted amenities well heeled business travelers expect. I stayed there on business as a Diamond Hilton member. Upon check-in there were 2 clerks working a check-in counter that has 12 positions so I waited and finally gave up and checked-in online instead and got my digital key. Of course, no bottles of water until I went down the next day to get a hug for being a Diamond Member, which highlighted to me no one at the hotel could care less that I chose their hotel to stay in. I had stayed at this hotel back in 2002 & 2003 and thought it was worth another try and yes indeed. Located next to Union Square and the Theatre districts, the hotel is an ideal base to set out to see the many sights during our stay. The very large entry lobby area has been refurbished and turned into a much more user friendly space which showed by how busy it was each day. Stayed 3 nights with hundreds of people from my company. Room- I have to say thought the room was great and nicely designed, the bathroom was a little awkward in design. The sink literally sat adjacent to the toilet. The counter space was lacking. The shower/tub were a nice size; so that was a plus. Hotel staff- extremely friendly and helpful. Staying for business and I was glad to see that a Hilton was on my travel plans. Online check-in can save you a ton of time as this hotel is equipped for digital keys. It meant I could skip the front desk entirely and go straight to my room. This hotel has 3 towers with one lobby so the front desk can be quite busy. I liked the hotel; the staff was friendly, and I appreciated the in-room coffeemaker. I liked the herb n kitchen eatery, and the fact that it stayed open very late, since we didn't get to the hotel until after 11:00 p.m. The only thing I didn't like is that the room was so far from the elevator.

Stayed a week for a convention in SF and had a somewhat mixed experience. First room I got smelled bad, like an old smoking room. Nothing special but just typical Hilton. Very busy lobby with bar, coffee shop, snacks etc. rooms on the small side but comfortable and quiet. I stayed using Hilton points so bottom line for me it was great. I didn't even look at the room prices so I can't tell you value vs price. But at least there were no surprises. We had just returned from wine country and the corking fee worked out well at the bar area allowing us to enjoy some of the fruit of out travels!

For a start this is not on onion square it's more like a 10-15minute walk it is in actual fact on the edge of the tenderloin. There were quite often questionable characters in the streets around the hotel. Now for the hotel, I thought the staff were either uninterested, poorly trained or just not very good. Great location for exploring the city. Fast check in (thanks Alex) even when busy. Friendly, professional staff. Room was comfortable and quiet. It's big and you'll have some long walks depending upon where your room is located, but that's to be expected. Easy checkout! It's also right across the street from most major car rental agencies which made it easy to return our car and walk across the street to check in. I stayed here several times for business, from 2 to 3 nights. Generally: it is a huge hotel. it's always busy. There is almost always a queue at the checkin/out desks. Personally, I was just lacking the feeling of feeling "at home" or relaxed in this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. I was on the 21st floor. The view was okay. I loved the lobby bar. Great service and great snack. Great location, big room for a family of four, friendly, helpful staff, delicious breakfast- you can't ask for much more! We went here over week of July 4th and had a great time. This is a pretty standard hotel for a big city. Clean, and surprisingly spacious rooms. The decor is nothing special - just a regular hotel, nothing luxurious and maybe a bit dated and tired looking. The rooms were quiet, but we were up on the 19th floor. The big perk here is the location. Breakfast is not included but the breakfast buffet is amazing (a bit pricey at around $30 but the spread is considerable). It took me a couple of days to figure it out but the reason this hotel is strange is that it is essentially a 1,000+ room limited service hotel. Sure you can eat Breakfast at Urban Tavern but a $37++ buffet is simply not realistic even in San Francisco. The lobby is a mess and partly because they don't know how to staff the lobby bar. Day after day there would be packed tables and either no server or just one when there should have been three. They should go to the Marriott View and see how a... Read more

The rooms as a good size, the service is good, and the advice given by staff is definitely accurate, but the location makes it great. You are not right in the centre of the action, but just outside, pretty much a five minute walk in any direction will get you to shopping, nightlife, transport, or restaurants. The only thing to be aware of is that in my opinion, they either need more, or faster elevators.

Nothing super special about this place. Beds are reasonably comfortable and rooms are reasonably clean, though badly in need of updating. On the plus side, rooms seem pretty quiet, and if you are at a conference, it is very convenient. That being said, it's not the nicest location around, and the area directly adjacent to the hotel is pretty sketchy, where it seems like if you stay two or three streets down, the area gets much nicer.

Hilton Union Square is really in the heart of the city. Lots of shopping and restaurants within walking distance. The vibe of the city is great. We stayed up on the 15th floor, pretty much away from most of the traffic noise, with a decent view. The room was a double queen. The Honors desk tried to up-sell us to level 24 with a King and uber-internet for $70 more/n. We declined. The room was well appointed and adequate for our needs. Some built in USB charging ports would have been handy though.... Read more

For over $500 per night, free wifi only in the lobby. What a disgrace. And especially charging $13 per device per day if you want to have it in the room. The rest was all well, big rooms, but of course noisy.

The room is adequate and kept relatively clean. The pool on the rooftop is small in relation to the size of this hotel. My biggest disappointment is the lobby. It is constantly full of people making it noisy and uncomfortable. It feels more like a train station than a hotel lobby.

It was our first time to San Fran, and as Diamond members we were upgraded to a Junior suite which was amazing!! Huge room with great views. Over all it is a lovely hotel with lovely staff, the bar on the top floor is awesome with great views of San Fran! Just a couple of negatives. The halls are like something from the Shining, they go on and and on, but it was well worth the walk, ice machines and water bottle refill stations on each floor. We took the advice of some friends and don't turn... Read more

We have been staying in SF IN November for the last 5 years. The location of this hotel is fantastic. We walked to almost everywhere. Registration was crowded, but the lines moved through very fast. I want to give a thumbs up to Kayla at the front desk, who helped us get a fantastic room and accommodated any need we had. The breakfast buffet package is well worth it. Fantastic and fresh food that filled us up till dinner. The staff is super friendly and ebb fave my kids to go boxes, because t... Read more

The hotel is big and busy. The lobby is heaving any time of day, and feels more like a train station than a hotel lobby. The hallways are long, narrow, and seen better days, with some rooms being an absolute hike from the lifts due to the sheer size of the hotel. I paid for a room upgrade at reception, and whilst the room had all the basics and was clean, it was not particularly special, especially compared to other hotels in San Francisco.

We loved our stay at this hotel. The location was great, and we could walk to everything easily. They have a self parking garage which was a little cheaper than the valet. The service was great. Our room was big, and overlooked the city which was really nice to wake up to. We went to the Cityscape bar, which was located at the top of the hotel and they panoramic views of the city which was really cool. My only downside would be the lines for check in. They do have a smaller line for Hilton Honor... Read more

This hotel is in the perfect location! The staff was great! Rooms were incredibly spacious... especially for being in the city! The only down side was parking... but the garage across the street was helpful and much cheaper than hotel parking! The staff was also kind enough to suggest that garage. Despite being extremely busy, our stay was quiet, peaceful, and relaxing! Our room was always clean and tidy when we returned. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely stay again!

We had a great stay at the Hilton union square over the weekend. It was in a great location with easy access to excellent restaurants and shopping. Very easy to get around. We also felt the value was well worth the price!

Besides the wonderful Manhattans and the view from the CityScape lounge, the overnight stay was rather disappointing. Quality customer service was severely lacking due to the impersonal and almost uptight demeanor of the staff. This can typically be blamed on poor management the entire way up as not one staff member I encountered went out of their way to ensure the guest experience was out of this world. You can certainly tell that the front office staff in particular does not enjoy being the... Read more

This is my second stay, at this hotel my girlfriend & I had come to shop & relax. Comfy clean room it's not super fancy but for location & price great value. The food downstairs at convenience store is very pricey. Just around corner there is a Walgreens with lots of choices for snack also a starbucks close by. The concierge was great and was able to answer all our questions. We came to see the King and I and walked back from show down market and felt very safe. I would recommend.

Very busy hotel in excellent location in Union Square. Nice room, great view of the city from the 35th floor. Room very clean and comfortable bed. Excellent conference areas. The only downside is no real restaurant other than the bar areas and Herb N Kitchen. Several reasonable restaurants within a block of the hotel. Shopping area a couple blocks down from hotel which was a plus. Staff very helpful.

Rented a junior suite on the 10th floor and was very pleased with both the room and the service at the hotel--front desk, concierge, bell desk--everyone was courteous and eager to help. I spend more than 100 nights/year out on business travel, but this was a leisurely Hilton Honors stay. The location is SO very convenient--I had a hard time choosing between here, the Parc 55 (also a Hilton property), or the Financial District. But we made the right choice for us, I really enjoyed this Hilton--sh... Read more

Lack of customer service to assist handcap individual. When I reserved rooms I was okay but got into an accident and fractured my hip. Which required me to go to PT and walk with a cane. I didn't get much help from the employees at this hotel.

We had two rooms on the 18th floor of tower 3, overlooking the pool. The room was a good size, with a huge bed. It was recently decorated and had everything we needed. The hotel is only two blocks from union square, Westfield, cable cars etc so it is easy to walk anywhere. We did not try any of the restaurants as there are so many diners around but did have drinks in Cityscape which is amazing. Drinks are pricey but the view is amazing. We had no problems at the hotel at all so would recommen... Read more

Service was super as well as the location. Hilton is always known as a quality product and this is not an exception. We loved the bar with the wonderful view of the city. The concierge really knew the city and although I have visited the city many times, it was 20 years ago so we relied on his recommendations and he was spot on.

Hilton Union Sq is centrally located, so easy to get around. The property is too big, did a lot of walking from lobby to room. Comfy beds and great amenities. All the staff are helpful and friendly. Herb's & Spice offers a great selection of food & beverage. will definitely come back to visit.
