[2] Take the ramp to US-101 N
[3] Keep right at the fork to continue toward US-101 N
[4] Keep right at the fork, follow signs for US-101 N/San Francisco and merge onto US-101 N
[5] Take exit 434A to merge onto US-101 N/Mission St toward G G Bridge
[6] Turn left at S Van Ness Ave
[7] Turn right at California St

From East Bay to the hotel:

[1] Take Hwy. 80 West over the Bay Bridge ($4 toll)
[2] Take the Fremont Street exit off the Bay Bridge. Fremont Street is the first S.F. exit on the right
[3] Turn left at the bottom of the exit onto Fremont Street
[4] Get into the right lane and go 2 blocks until Market Street
[5] When you cross over Market Street, Fremont Street becomes Front Street
[6] Go 2 blocks on Front, and turn left onto California Street
[7] Go 8 blocks up California, and turn right onto Mason Street

From South Bay to the hotel:

[1] Take Hwy. 101 North into the city. 101 North can be accessed from Hwy. 280 NorthStay in the left lane and follow the signs for Hwy. 101 North, Golden Gate Bridge
[2] Take the 9th Street/Civic Center exit. Make a half left onto 9th Street
[3] Go 5 blocks to Market Street. Stay in the right lane
[4] When you cross over Market Street, 9th becomes Larkin Street
[5] Go 14 blocks on Larkin, and turn right onto California Street
[6] Go 5 blocks on California, and turn left onto Mason Street.

From North Bay to the hotel:

[1] Take Highway 101 South over the Golden Gate Bridge ($6.00 toll)

"The Fairmont is the quintessential San Francisco Hotel- exudes elegance and old world charm. The staff is gracious, mannered and attentive.

Be prepared however- Hotel charges for every ammentity- over $60 per night for parking, $15 a day for internet in a city culture that promotes social connectivity, $10 guest charge for the Fitness Center.

Try Tyler Florence's Wayfarere's Inn a couple of blocks from the Hotel- reinvented Fried Chicken in a throw back setting to the days of Herb Caen toasting the town."

"The Fairmont was AMAZING! We were so surprised when we were upgraded at check-in to a beautiful room overlooking the city and bay. We could see Alcatraz & Coit Tower from our room! The staff was friendly, helpful & made our stay extra comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel! The only downfall was the hikes we had to take in order to get to and from the hotel by foot. By day three, our legs were super sore! Other than that, our stay was great!"

"The ornate beauty of the grand lobby of this majestic hotel captures you as you enter, having been greeted by the friendly, efficient doormen outside. The room was large, with high ceilings and large wall to wall windows that looked out toward the bay bringing in the warmth of the rising sun. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom large with a soothing 'rain shower' shower head and separate bathtub. The only negatives: wifi and workout room charges. It makes no sense that a 4.5 star hotel with what it charges will separately assess charges for use of these facilities when even the Holiday Inn provides them for free.
Looking for a romantic get away, or simply an elegant, quiet place to stay up on Nob Hill - The Fairmont is an excellent choice."

"My trip to San Fransisco was really great. Fairmont San Fransisco is a really nice hotel. It is well located but I suggest you take the cable car to go up the hill.
I got a good deal for a queen bedroom, I wouldn't have paid the full price for it. I don't understand why 4-stars hotels don't provide free wi-fi.
The shower and window curtains were a bit stained, but the rest of the room and common areas were very clean. The bed was so confortable! The concierge was really helpful with restaurants recommandations.
We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel."

"I planned a 5 day trip to SF. Tuesday was in the city. Wed & Thur Night - staying in Yosemite National Park. It was only 2-3 hours away. Def worth the additional travel. I wanted a memorable last night. I chose well with the Fairmont SF. This hotel is def a double thumbs up. I'm 29 & went with a 30 yr old friend. We are still young at heart but wanted a relaxing experience. We chose a Balcony Tower Suite. Specifically we stayed in the Buckingham suite. ZERO REGRETS. Good service. Great views. Def a luxury spot - but not overly stuffy. No problems at all with this place. Had booking issue in the beginning, I was put into a non balcony room. I ordered the balcony room. I called up my agency, They called the hotel & 10 minutes later I was in a free UPGRADED balcony suite. 800 sq feet. room could easily fit 20 people. Hardwood flooring entry, vanity room, bar area, lounge area and king size bed in seperate bedroom. The hotel is at the top of Nob Hill. It oversees the entire city. Memorable views. Close walking distance to union square shops. Good restaurants around. Safe area for sure. Recommend to anyone. The prices are def worth. Will def come back. I loved the room // hotel // & the city."

"I was expecting much more. Our room was next to the elevators and it was annoying. We got back to our room late and didn't want to deal with switching rooms in the middle of the night.
