The hotel is very conveniently located very close to the airport and major highway. The lobby is somewhat attractive but the hotel goes down from there. The rooms and hallways are very tired an in need of updating. My daughters were going to sleep in the sleeper sofa but the mattress was terrible and all the hotel would offer was a mattress pad. Most Embassy's now have a Managers Evening with snacks and free drinks. The snacks were goldfish - needed to stay with wine since the bartender didn't k... Read more

This hotel is horrible. I will never stay here again. I'm a business traveler and I come to So San Fran quite a bit. I usually stay at the Hilton Garden Inn down the road, but I noticed I get more points at the Embassy Suites, so for a change of pace I tried it. The rooms have old, humid carpet. The trash bin was broken on the bottom. The microwave was so small, the popcorn bag didn't turn so it burned. The temperature control was so bad in the rooms because it is connected to whatever they have... Read more

This is one of our favorite hotel to stay. And whenever i have friends who's planning to visit San Francisco I always recommend this hotel. So, as always we had a great stay. Room was clean, smells freah, furnitures are in good shape, you got everything you need. Good customer service. It got fridge and microwave inside the room so it's very comfortable and a living room to entertain friends. We will definitely come back

Strategically located with a shuttle at the airport and just a short walk to the Caltrain stop at South San Francisco. The trains run all day and are only 11-15 minutes to the King Street Station which is just a block away from ATT park. They also have a shuttle to Union Square on Friday and Saturday with easy access to the San Francisco transit system including BART. When you factor in the cost of hotel parking and higher hotel costs in the city, this is a great choice for a hotel in the Bay Ar... Read more

Don't be taken back by the location (industrial area) or the "tired " appearance" the hotel is a nice safe place with easy access to the SFO airport. Shuttle service was adequate and somewhat timely. But beware if your not in the specific area he stops at the airport he will not stop and pick you up, you have to wait until the next shuttle. That could be improved as far a location of the bus as all they tell you is to wait on the peninsula with no reference as to where.

Old, tired, poorly maintained. Even the Premium Floor was sad (add an extra $20 a day for this sadness). The staff hustles and tries to make the best of it. The rooms are poorly maintained and look and smell 'old' although ours was clean. There's an extra charge for parking in the gate accessed lot- even though the gate didn't work and was open most of the time. The lot was littered with trash and beer bottles and had Poor lighting. They say that there is renovation going on - not sure where. ... Read more

The rooms are very large and all rooms are suites. The lobby and breakfast area are nice. The rooms themselves are a little dated. I was on the premium 10th floor yet my sink had a crack in it, the tile around the shower was straight out of the 50's, as well as the style of curtains. There are very few outlets so it's hard to find a good place to plug in your phone and still use the phone. The couch was uncomfortable. The breakfast is great, there is a made to order omelet station, scrambled egg... Read more

We were happy to give business back to Embassy Suites because of the convenience we encountered in their Burlingame property, six months ago. This time around, we decided to try Embassy Suites in South San Francisco. Despite paying about $80 more than what we paid for a similar room in the Burlingame property six months ago, the experience fell below our expectations, for the following reason: We used the airplane transfer service offered by the hotel. As is so often the case, this Embassy Suites is gorgeous, with a large coy pond and fountains in the lobby. They also provide an excellent, full, made to order breakfast. All rooms are suites with a separate bedroom, and are super nice, including a microwave and refrigerator. For San Francisco the prices are also reasonable. I will definitely stay here again. We have to travel due to medical appointments and it's so nice to have a hotel we know will be clean, staff friendly and an overall enjoyable time. As Hhonors members we were on the upper floor with a large corner room. It was very clean & Embassy Suites standard. The furniture is showing some wear but still in good condition. Breakfast was up to Embassy standards and good. Pool was nice. Kids enjoyed staying here. Staff was attentive and helpful with directions. I did not agree with the parking fee especially as an Hhonors gold member, it should be waived or at least substantially reduced.

Stayed here 5 nights; 6/17-6/22/16. In agreement with most other reviews. The daily free cooked breakfast and Happy Hour are definite plusses of all Embassy Suites; saves money, and hassle of finding food/drink. The staff was quite cooperative, even helping me with a phone charger. This brings me to the next point: need for an update. The hotel airport shuttle (the reason for our stay at this hotel due to its proximity to SFO) was ridiculous. First of all, there are two embassy suites in the area and the driver does not confirm which location he is going to. He made personal stops and was unapologetic to the three guests who were on the wrong shuttle and merely stated "oh, this happens all the time." Bath tub was not clean for 2 days (stop smoking patches not being removed from bath tub rim). Which bring into question the cleanliness of the entire bathroom and suite. The night manager was awful. First, registration checked us into the wrong rooms. The night manager then "corrected" the problem by reissuing keys (so we had access to the correct rooms). This was a pretty good hotel at a fair price. Service was good with a very friendly staff. Breakfast was way above average. The location is not terribly convenient to SF but the Cal Train is a short walk (~1/2 mile). If you plan to go to SF via the Cal Train, get a schedule before you go. Rates are very reasonable (about $4) but you end up at the Cal Train station which is not close to many attractions. From the station, take a taxi or the #30 bus.

This Embassy Suites has the old style atrium which is very nice. The rooms are extremely dated and need to be refurbished. The restaurant has an extremely limited menu.$20 for a cheese burger is like putting a gun to your wallet.

I like Embassy Suites because they have a spacious room for a reasonable price with a good breakfast and complementary happy hour. The Embassy Suites Gateway of San Francisco Airport does not live up to the standards of other Embassy Suites. This place is bad. 1) Despite being away from the city, they charge you for parking, but don't tell you in advance. 2) When I walked in, the check-in attendant told me my room was ready, but told me the price for the week would be $1300 more than we had rese... My husband and I stayed at this property for one night. On the evening that we arrived, we waiting about 30 minutes for a shuttle. The shuttle process was confusing to many people awaiting shuttles to their respective accommodations because there are several hotels under the same property names in different locations. It was dark and perhaps it was hard for people to see if their property was listed on the side of the multi-property van. Perhaps this factor slowed the pick-up process which w... Read more

The rooms are very well kept and spacious. All of the amenities we needed were at our fingertips and I was so happy with the room. The free breakfast needs to be left alone and not eaten. It got us sick and was made from powder, byproducts, and was undercooked.

The rooms and the overall facility were very clean and the people were very helpful and accommodating. There were some slight issue with the gym equipment meaning the tv's on the tread mill and an elliptical machine did not work. But they were working on them as I left the hotel. May was a very nice hostess during the managers special. I look forward to returning to the hotel when the job requires me to return to sfo.

There are many things to like about this hotel. The suites are spacious and well appointed, the rooms are quiet and there is a lovely lobby atrium. The location is as advertised: it's South San Francisco, so you stay here if you have business in the area or are on a layover at SFO and don't want to venture downtown. The only knock against it is the TV...it was low (like super low) definition. A minor point, to be sure. But a hotel that can't provide an HD signal in this day and age?

Embassy Suite is one of the properties we like. We like the suite concept and Embassy Suites are usually appointed nicely as was the case with this property. Our issue is that there was not hot water to our room. This can happen and while it is a small inconvenience to me it is a major inconvenience to my wife. I have two issues. First, I learned from another guest that the morning we did not have hot water was the second morning in a row that they had not had hot water. I feel the check in... Read more

The hotel does not appear to be updated. The room was large. However, the heating system was terrible. We could not make the room warm enough due to the have "dual system". Basically, you are unable to control the room temperature from your room. We asked the front desk and they gave us a small noisy room heater to warm the room.
