People were friendly and the saving grace was a really good and clean bed. Otherwise the room was super basic and dated. No A/C (but a fan beside the bed) and not a single drawer in the room for unpacking into. And the neighborhood! Human feces on the sidewalk about a block away.

Quite nice - between good and average. Rooms are clean. Location is good - 15 min to union square. But you have to take Geary st to the city center because Ellis st is quite dangerous. Lots of dealers and homeless people. I was warned by 3 different uber drivers and that was true.

Decided to do a spontaneously weekend trip to San Francisco and stayed at the Cova. Without knowing where to go on such a quick trip, Shadon (one of the hotel staff) suggested a few great places to visit. She was extremely helpful and lovely! Our trip was definitely a memorable one because of her. Thank you Shadon for your excellent customer service!!

I stayed here for a few nights in November. I'd read some reviews that expressed concern about the area however I wasn't phased by that & booked. I really liked the hotel. It's small, older hotel that's been updated quite well, room's are well appointed, and clean. Bathroom has a full size bath with the shower in it, there's plenty of room clothes etc and a coffee maker. I didn't use any other facilities apart from breakfast in the restaurant downstairs, which was buffet style & ok. Personal... Read more

I really liked this hotel. Staff was wonderful, especially Latoya (thank you!). We could check in early because we had a tight deadline with our rental car. The neighbourhood didn't really faze us (we're two women), we were told to stay clear of some streets which we did. In fact, the streets around this hotel are filled with great little restaurants, many of which asian, which were very affordable and high quality. And yes, there are many homeless people around, but they didn't bother us. It wa... Read more

A good, friendly stay! Meet the lovely Craig who was helpful, friendly and such a lovely man! He went out of his way to give us directions and tell us about this beautiful city. Thanks Craig :) Room was nice, clean and the extra facilities were handy. Would stay here again

The Cova Hotel was nice and clean. Hotel seems to have been recently remodeled. You have to pay to park at adjoining private garage. Neat roof top deck. About 10 minute walk to Union Square but area did not feel safe, was dirty, and sidewalks crowded with homeless people

First time in San Francisco & stayed at this motel. We overlooked the bad location, rude staff, having to pay the extra deposit and not getting the room I had paid extra for while there. We had paid for a room with a view but when we had got there our room was flooding so we were given a standard room, nothing was mentioned about refunding us what we had paid extra and no apology. We overlooked this and made the most of our time there. Bus Shuttle times are very limited, your better organizing y... Read more

I really liked the Cova. The staff were lovely & helpful, the rooms clean & tidy - Shame about the location in the middle of the tenderloin. If you want to cab or drive then it's fine - but if you want to walk (to union square) better to get a hotel closer so you feel safer.

We stayed at the Cova hotel for 2 nights during our first visit to San Francisco in a Superior King Room with breakfast included, and although we thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring the beautiful city, we wouldn't choose to stay in this hotel again if we ever have the opportunity to make a return visit. The decor and cleanliness of the room was fine as was the air conditioning, shower and hot water. The bed was comfy and made up daily. The location was a problem for us. We arrived late at ...
