Great location lovely hotel , right by all the tourist area the rooms are very light in the morning , very expensive breakfast should be included for the price we wouldn't recommend it , go to holiday inn express they give you breakfast the only thing this hotel gives away is a glass of water . We stayed here for 3 nights just over a week ago, whilst we did not like Fishermans Wharf and weather was terrible we enjoyed our stay with a few negatives and positives! Nice welcome large room with great space although bathrooms need a facelift. Great large comfy bed, large sofa and big TV. You are right at the front and at the start of the great cable car turning point. Personally I found the Wharf a too seaside type commercial tacky area but that's no disrespect to the hotel and weather didn... Read more

Stayed here on our last night of our 'road trip' in the US, on great TA reviews and I can only agree. Actually, I think it could be the best US hotel I have stayed in, not cheap and I agree that breakfast could have been included, although that is unusual anywhere these days but I have paid this for a matchbox in London with second hand furniture. ...... All the staff were super friendly (not just American false, if you know what I mean...) and we were upgraded to a room with a great view of th... Read more

Stood here 3 nights, the hotel was good but not great although the location is pretty great and the on site restaurant is better than most in the area. I gave it four stars as they could do little things to improve the property and train some off the staff to be a bit more courteous to guests.

Location is great - Hotel is very comfortable. Room service is not 24 hours and there are no kettles in the room ( there are coffee machines ). If you go for a suite ask for the bar fridge to be put in the sitting room not the bedroom as it is noisy. Sea view will give you Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, fog permitting.

The Argonaut is a lovely hotel in a great location within easy walking distance of Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39 and right by the cable-car turnaround. The rooms are gorgeous - good decor and very well equipped with lots of towels and nice toiletries in the bathroom. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating.

Booked the hotel several months ago as part of a 6 week USA trip. The rooms and all public areas were kept really clean and all the cleaning staff always had a smile for you. The other staff were all very pleasant, but there seemed to be some resentment about handling your own bags, which I had not come across in the 20 or 25 or so other hotels I had stayed in during our 9 state trip. I asked to use a trolley which again have been available in all the other hotels but was told they are only fo... Read more

This boutique hotel is located in the San Francisco National Maritime Historical Park @ Fisherman's Wharf, owned by the National Park Service. The hotel was originally the Haslett Warehouse, part of the fruit & vegetable cannery complex, once known as the California Fruit Association, which later became known as Del Monte. The construction of the building used solid early 20th century bricks & Douglas fir wooden structural support beams for the foundation & aesthetic frame. It is breathtaking... Read more

What a gem! My husband and I arrived for a late check-in, and were greeted by Franklin and Esha at the front desk. There was a slight issue with our reservation, and Franklin and Esha were able to upgrade us to a suite for no extra charge. When we were leaving the next day, John helped us get our car. After asking about our next destination, John ran inside and brought us back magazines on visiting Napa. Everyone we encountered went above and beyond to make sure our stay was enjoyable. N... We've stayed here many times over the years and hope to stay for many more! You can't beat the location or the history of the building! The decor is ultra-charming and the staff are always friendly and helpful! For being so close to the busy waterfront the hotel and rooms are very quiet, one of the things we look for when traveling because it's usually our only opportunity to sleep in! The prices may seem high, but booking directly through their website usually results in great rates with perks ... Read more

Just had 4 nights at the amazing Argonaut Hotel San Francisco (10 - 14 June). The rooms were clean and even though we had 2 rooms we still had plenty of room for our baggage. I do however would suggest putting in extra baggage stand so everyones bags can be off the ground. We had a standard room so no view, though when your out exploring a gorgeous city you don't really require one. The location was fantastic, cable car, hop on hop off city sighting bus company and fisherman's wharf all on your... Read more

This hotel is a very well kept and clean place. The view is nice and it's in a convenient place because you can walk to popular restaurants, shops, piers, and attractions. The rooms were also nice and well designed. At first our room keys were not working so we went down to the front desk and asked for new room keys with no problem. Employees were professional and happy to help. I would definitely stay here again!

When we arrived around noon (ie early) after a long flight from NY, our room wasn't ready and we were told that check in was 3pm. No problem at all until we got back to the hotel at 2:55pm to be told in a surly manner by front desk that check in was 3pm. After having to kick up a fuss we eventually got our room at 3:20pm. A busy hotel so can feel a bit impersonal. Our room was spacious but not particularly cosy; it felt more perfunctory and functional, you dont get the feeling that there's much attention to detail. The restaurant attached to the hotel was only so so in terms of fare. It's on Fisherman's Wharf so location wise is perfect for exploring the city; the tram station is just round the corner. It's got a picturesque setting and a park in the next block.

We stayed here for a week, and it is a fabulous hotel! The location is awesome -- it was easy to walk to North Beach and Chinatown, and Fisherman's Wharf and the cable car route are right around the corner. it seems that all hotels in San Francisco are at premium rates so it is hard to rate. The main positive is the location of this hotel, very handy for the tram, the bridge and fisherman's wharf. when we arrived in SF there was a Gay Pride march and the place was gridlocked so being strangers and trying to access our hotel using Satnav was challenging. Popped up to San Francisco from Monterey for the night during our stay in California this June, couldn't be so close and not make the effort to see a couple of the iconic sights, and then have a very comfortable hotel to rest our weary heads and feet in overnight. The location for this hotel is what you are paying for and is great if you wish to stay in the tourist area of the Waterfront. The hotel has a nautical feel. Our holiday was booked by a separate company and we were not offered or given a waterfront view - instead we had an inside room which looked out onto other bedroom windows and air vents. The location directly on Fisherman's Wharf is perhaps the major asset of this hotel. At $500 a night, valet parking at double that of most hotels it is not quite the value for money you might expect. The rooms are a nice size with a nautical interior theme (we had 2 comfortable queen beds for a family of 4) and if you get a view on the waterfront side you can sit and muse on the history of Alcatraz although just out of visual reach of the Golden Gate. We booked this hotel based on Trip Adviser reviews. They proved to be very accurate. The hotel is centrally placed on Fishermans Wharf, next to the cable car terminal and ideally placed for all forms of public transport. The rooms are well themed, spacious and clean. There is free wifi with good bandwidth. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Happy hour each work day between 5 and 6 pm provided for cheap drinks and $1 oysters. Food is of good quality and reasonably priced. This is where we... Read more

We stayed at the Argonaut for 6 nights. It was very quiet and warm but our room (twin doubles) was very small and cramped and unlike the photos on the website. We love the historic exposed-brick look but our room was an inner room with zero view overloking a spartan central lightwell and had no exposed brick walls. Bit of a disappointment. The staff were very pleasant but the hotel is a bit short on amenities, e.g. pool. Well located though. Was okay but if we return to SF we'd probably stay e... Read more

We chose here as we had 2 nights in San Francisco and wanted to do as much as could. Lots in the area, but super touristy. Easy to walk to the Alcatraz ferry and the cable car stop. We arrived with no Alcatraz booking to find it was a 3 month wait but the concierge sorted us - for a price. The staff were all ok but nothing special when you get to expect good American service. The valet was fine but expensive at $50 a night. The rooms and the hotel take the nautical theme to the MAX but it works.... Read more

This hotel is located right where you want to be by Fisherman's Warf. Perfect for a short stay in the city. Quick access to the key sights. Rooms were clean. We stayed 2 nights at the beginning and end of a week long trip to wine country. Our first room was spacious for 3 friends, the second one (same price, same description) not so roomy. Everyone was kind and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay at the Argonaut mainly due to its perfect location at the Fisherman's Wharf. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant offers a good choice of nice food. The rooms are okay but lack some storage space and cloth hooks for a family of four. Ask for the complementary bikes at reception, first come first serve.

This hotel was great! It is actually an old cannery owned by the National parks organization. It is styled with as much of the original building as possible, but modern as well. The staff was helpful, friendly, and always willing to help. The hotel is in the perfect location to walk to Ghirardelli Square, Fisherman's Wharf, and Pier 39. If you are staying over a weekend, take advantage of the free tour of the wharf area that leaves from the lobby.

This is a charming hotel in an ideal location, located in an historic old building. Love that it is past all the crowds and restaurants of the wharf and next to a park, right by the cable car stop and Ghirardelli Square. The deluxe 2 queen room was very spacious and the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. The hotel has a small fitness center and offers room service. Would stay here again.

If you want to be down in the action of the Pier and touristy stuff - this is the hotel to stay at. Near Pier 39. The Blue Mermaid restaurant is good - only ate breakfast there but it was good. The Wine Collective - not part of the Hotel but attached to it is a great place for some nice wine - Mark that works there is a lot of fun. Hotel rooms are small - hate the doors on the bathroom. Shower head was not great. Noise was awful from the A/C and then it would just stop working.

My husband and I were visiting San Francisco for the first time as we were celebrating our 30th anniversary. We wanted to stay somewhere where we could get the flavor of the city. We loved staying at a hotel that was the previous site of a DelMonte Cannery. Other hotels we considered had all the amenities and were beautiful properties, but they seemed like generic hotels catering more to the business trade. We loved the location, right across the stree from the wharf with a view of the bay, Alcatraz, and the bridge. Our 4th floor corner room was beautiful and clean. It's a bit crazy getting checked in as you have to park on the street and the best option is to have the valet park the car. The staff is friendly and we saw one of the door men playing football with a young guest. The on site restaurant serves a great breakfast, which was the only meal we had at our hotel. Sparkling wine waiting for us at the room was a nice touch as we're on our honeymoon (guess travel agency has informed the hotels).
