"My best friend and I wanted to visit Napa so I booked this hotel due to it's charm. When we arrived the neighborhood seemed dicey but being from NYC we were used to seeing homeless people. These people seemed to be in a culture of their own. They were harmless unlike those in NYC. The staff were very friendly. Mostly European patrons in the hotel."

"The hotel is on the edge of the Tenderloin district so be prepared for an interesting collection of characters hanging around on the sidewalk by the entrance. There is no AC or fan so we had to leave the windows open for circulation. Even though we were on the fourth floor, the noise on the street kept us awake most of the night. Getting to and from the hotel was always a challenge since you have to wind your way through the panhandlers and other characters.

Even though the room was remodeled, it had several holes in the walls and was in need of repainting. The dispenser in the bathroom was out of soap and the phone wasn't working. When we told the desk clerk, he said, 'People have been here to work on it several times.' It never did work. He then gave us a quart of liquid soap so we could refill the dispenser ourselves. That said, the rest of the staff were very helpful and accommodating.

Even though the hotel was reasonably priced, the neighborhood makes this a poor choice for families and older people and it is worth the extra money to stay a little closer to Union Square."

"I booked the room 6 months before our trip to San Francisco to participate in the NWM. They were really friendly on the phone once the booking date was nearing to answer all my questions on parking and check in. for our needs it was perfect. The hotel was withing walking distance of all the activities involved in NWM. I will most likely book there again next year when I enter next years NWM. A lot of people stated there was a huge homeless problem there, sure there was, but that was everywhere in SF. no one ever bothered us, they seemed to actually enjoy the Marathon activities, even cheered us on!!"

"This hotel was very, very old. The stairway and hallway looks like it hasn't been vacuumed in years. The bed was made with 2 top sheets. The comforter had stains on it. The breakfast was okay with coffee, juice, toast, muffins, and apples. I would not stay at this hotel again and I would not recommend it to anyone."

"First off there was no A/C in the room, there was no fitted sheet on the bed just a flat sheet we had to lay on. Room was super tiny and so was the closet. No space for any of our clothes and luggage. Free light breakfast was light oh right, toast, juice and coffee. there were bums hanging all around outside the hotel. Staff was not friendly at all. And check in is at 2pm. We got there early at like 11am and we had to wait till 2. Horrible... Would never return to this place ever."
